I can with certainty confirm that Joey Barton will NOT be signing.

22 May 2016 20:36:11
Yer just guessing!

22 May 2016 20:43:28
just making stuff up.

22 May 2016 21:11:23
He's 100% not signing you say rangers 1972 2016, you've not stated how you know that which has me thinking you're having a shot in the dark here unless of course you're a family member of joey barton or a very close friend.

23 May 2016 06:59:27
If he has not committed yet then no thanks Joey. If you need that amount of time ti sign for us then sorry. Walk.

22 May 2016 23:36:24
Another tweet from tonight from him looks promising he randomly said #.

23 May 2016 16:37:55
Well you were saying? Barton has signed with Burnley and we move on to other targets.

22 May 2016 16:05:56
My sources tell me that Barton is a done deal. What your thoughts?

22 May 2016 18:31:26
I feel like a tweet of his from yesterday insinuated that he was, he quoted a tweet from a person blaming rangers fans and defended them, but it said something like you aren't actually going to sign for Rangers with those **** fans.

22 May 2016 18:48:25
No chance, let's get real.

22 May 2016 18:21:23
Did you bump into wullie and snowy?

22 May 2016 18:24:02
I hope not just imagine if he had been on the pitch at full time I dread to think.

22 May 2016 18:26:21
Is your spare reliable?

22 May 2016 19:14:45
I'm still confident he will sign, was never about yesterdays result! A bit of fire in midfield wouldn't go a miss either!

22 May 2016 19:44:10
Total agree and think what he wants a longer deal than 1 year or would of stay at burnley.

22 May 2016 18:40:10
Hope your right liam buchanan, hope your sources and their info are reliable, personally myself I now don't think joey barton or niko krancjar will sign for us because it looks like they were waiting for the outcome of yesterday's cup final to see if we'd be participating in europe or not, if that's the case I don't want those sort of players at rangers, they must want to come to the famous glasgow rangers right reason or none and want to wear the famous royal blue jersey, if they don't they're not right for us in the first place, we then move on to other targets that want to come for who we are!

22 May 2016 11:01:08
Anyone got any rumours about centre backs.

22 May 2016 12:21:20
Apparently they're still missing.

22 May 2016 12:38:14
Your team play yesterday poetic?

22 May 2016 12:41:15
Too soon tpp but couldn't be further from the truth at least we put yous lot out though 😉.

22 May 2016 12:41:15
Did yours? 😀.

22 May 2016 12:45:59
Yes the did. Not very well but atleast they were able to make it there.

22 May 2016 12:54:22
In all honesty, I said before the game to Bruisedbear that I wanted Hibs to win for personal reasons that had zero to do with Rangers losing. I also hoped everyone was safe. I stand by both statements.

And you are both correct- you got to the final, so there should be plaudits for that.

In terms of the match, all things aside, aftermath included, the football on display was way more entertaining than both the FA cup final and the German Cup final.

22 May 2016 12:58:50
Tpp at least our team reached the final, could you be as good to explain to us why your team were not playing at hamden yesterday,

22 May 2016 12:59:26
aye in one game but did yous do it all season? no didn't think so mind the last minute goal that screwed yous? rather go up than win the cup if i'm honest.

22 May 2016 13:05:30
We were the better team against the tic. Just play poor against hibs and need to sort our defence out.

22 May 2016 13:13:52
Bigjoh, catch up.

Tjrfc, what are you rambling about?

22 May 2016 13:38:35
Well said PP. Glad you enjoyed it. We can look forward now to at least 4 old firm games a season. The interest has been put back into Scottish fitba.

22 May 2016 14:02:07
TPP are you happy with Rodgers? I know a lot of fans didn't want him because of his failure at Liverpool, I take it all that's changed now that he's in?

22 May 2016 14:36:07
Recbob-

If you know a lot of fans who "didn't want him because of his failure at Liverpool" (which btw is ridiculous statement for a plethora of reasons) then you should ask them if it's all changed now he is in.

As for me, yes I am very happy.

I posted certain reservations about him prior to the appointment - and unlike some on these boards, I won't attempt to rewrite history and claim otherwise.

That said, I stated ad nauseam that if he did get the job (I genuinely didn't believe we would push the boat out) then I'd be impressed by the statement of intent, and hopefully the change in ambition.

So, original reservations aside, I'm excited by his appointment -and in all honesty, from the names mentioned, he really is the best I could have hoped for.

22 May 2016 15:31:31
I am sure he will be an improvement on roaring Ronny.

22 May 2016 14:51:59
Tpp catch up? Maybe its you that should realise my post was sent before your3rd post was posted onto a rangers site, me personally i blame the schools.

22 May 2016 16:04:51
On the Rodgers talk yea he could be good but he has a rebuilding job to do.

22 May 2016 17:31:42
Rodgers was a failure at Liverpool. He couldn't win the league with the best striker in the world (who he never signed anyway) . When he lost him he wasted over £200m and failed miserably, hence why he was sacked. That is failure, so I would love to hear your plethora of reasons why he was a success.
He'll suit Celtic though, second is your rightful place. 54 and counting.

22 May 2016 12:31:57
Heard one about Danny Wilson, apparently he thinks he's one?

22 May 2016 18:53:42
BigJoh-

If you are going to (try to) be smart and make childish comments about schools - it's probably best your posts aren't full of rambling nonsense. If you are going to talk of patience, it's probably best you don't post the same message time and time again in, guess what, a churlish example of impatience.

Recbob-

You ask a question and I answer in a civil manner. Why is your immediate go-to-position "aye but, aye but, aye but". If you are going to be aggressively argumentative for the sake of it, I suggest you learn to read. If not, it's not only going to be a long drawn out conversation but BigJoh will be on to you about your schooling, such is the interest he takes in that type of thing.

I'm going to say this once, because explaining something to someone who doesn't want to read what you wrote is a chore:

Here goes.

You said, and I quote "I know a lot of [Celtic] fans didn't want him because of his failure at Liverpool. "

I replied, "If you know a lot of [Celtic] fans who 'didn't want him because of his failure at Liverpool' (which btw is ridiculous statement for a plethora of reasons) then you should ask them if it's all changed now he is in. "

I didn't say he was 'this' or wasn't 'that'. At no point did I mention the word success. I was commenting on what you are saying Celtic fan's are saying. If they are claiming they don't want him because of his perceived failure, then it's ridiculous because anyone of that level -- and certainly of the names mentioned -- is going to have been sacked, unemployed and or deemed to have failed somewhere at a much higher league than Scotland's. That's why it's a ridiculous statement. It's ridiculous for those fans to use said "failure" as an excuse for Rodgers, whilst championing Moyes, Mackay, Lambert or insert whomever. It's equally ridiculous because those same fans would be apoplectic if it was a John Hughes, Paul Hartley, Jim McIntyre or Peter Houston that was appointed - despite the fact they have been very successful in relative terms.

But onto what you would then say:

"Rodgers was a failure at Liverpool. He couldn't win the league with the best striker in the world (who he never signed anyway) . "

Who signed him is of little importance. Barry MacKay couldn't get the tea in when McCoist was at the club. Now he's one of your better players. Does Warburton not get/ deserve any credit for that? Besides, another way to look at what you said would be: when Saurez signed, he was a good player; when he left, he was one of the best in the world. Saurez is on record crediting Rodgers for that. Is that true? I don't know. I'll take his word for it.

As for not winning the league at Liverpool. They haven't won it in nearly 30 years. That's not their barometer. I don't know what his targets at Anfield where, nor do I really care. I'll leave that to you and your Celtic fan friends to discuss.

I do know that he didn't "waste" £200m: One, there is a transfer committee at Anfield. Two, Manchester United have spent nearly double that this year and Rodgers worst finish as Liverpool boss 7th. A mere two lower than Utd achieved this year. Three, players like Benteke, Moreno, Balotelli etc have -- whether you want to admit it or not -- resale value. Players like Firmino are now mainstays in the team under Klopp.

I've already said above that I had reservations from him, so whatever you think you're trying to instigate between us, whatever points you think you are scoring, you're not. I don't care. I was civil before and for the sake of discussion, I'm being clear now. This attack on Rodgers from you is a painfully transparent attempt to convince yourself -- be that consciously or unconsciously -- of his failings gone by, and would be failings at Celtic.

Considering the weekend you've had, I'd be more worried about your own team, your own manager (who Hibsd it yesterday) , your Chairman (who was talking about Europe this week like it was fact) , than some fanciful talk about X being second, or any of that nonsense.

Or look at the positives, Wallace and Mackay can play for Scotland now without you or anyone else worrying about Europe.

22 May 2016 21:42:30
Neither going to agree or argue with TPP but he at least backs up his arguments with valid points, welcome the banter TPP.

22 May 2016 21:39:07
TPP, I asked you if you fancied Rodgers since he was a failure. He was a failure, he took them backwards.
Rodgers did not turn Suarez into a world class player, he did handle him well though.
Benteke, Ballotelli etc have all considerably dropped in value, why even mention them specifically, they couldn't buy a goal between them?

My point was actually that everyone I spoke to didn't want him, now he is a world beater because he's on £45k a week or something, as if that's a good thing.
My own personal opinion of him (and I've always had it, before you accuse me of being biased because he's your manager) is he is an Ego maniac who waste's vast sums of money with little to show for it. He might go on to do something up here he might not.

I think Celtic have panicked and splashed the cash and it will be a very costly failure. Again just my opinion. As you said yourself you never really fancied him. Every manager you's were in for had been sacked from their last job, it was not a strong list but to pay £45k a week for Rodgers is a big mistake I think.

I don't know why you're saying I'm looking for an argument, i asked a simple question looking for a simple answer. It's a forum. And btw you were on a Rangers forum slating our team in the first place, what were you hoping for a pat on the back?

As for my weekend it was fine thank you, watched my team end a long journey with a Cup final (that we embarrassed you's on the way to getting to) . Fair enough we got beat but I'll give Hibs their day in the sun, they're long suffering fans actually do deserve it even though they made a fool of themselves afterwards.

We've won plenty, being the most successful Club in the world and that, so it's not a problem. 55 is all I care about, and tbh the Europa league would have been too much for us in our first year back.

22 May 2016 23:12:45
Recbob, your entire post is nothing but a contradictory and erroneous mess. If you can't see that for yourself, then I've clearly already wasted enough of my time trying to engage with you. I'm done. I've said my piece.

By all means though, say what you will; get the last word; whatever makes you feel better.

23 May 2016 11:42:23
Poetic, you think by writing smart replies to everyone that they all think you're clever, when in fact everyone just thinks you're a person.

Maybe you can lend your glorious wisdom to the Hearts Rumours site or something next, eventually you'll find a home who appreciates you.

23 May 2016 12:02:51
Hopefully that's you sorted now.

23 May 2016 20:08:42
the only reason rodgers done well in his first season at liverpool was because he had suarez and they had no european ties that season.

22 May 2016 10:32:38
Fenando Adi Portland Timbers target man linked today. Almost a 1 in 2 ratio in the srates. Bit hit and miss at other clubs.

22 May 2016 14:05:49
He's on $712k a year so works out about £9.5k a week, no way can we afford they wages.

22 May 2016 15:52:53
Gersb how could we not offered 9 and a half grand a week? do you think the players we've been linked with were offered less than that?

22 May 2016 14:42:39
We can. rossiter is on 10k a week.
