I HOPE SO JACKIEWee Fleckie was being touted by Man U about a year or so ago for about 5 million, so 500,000 i don't think so.

"American midfielder Alejandro Bedoya meant to be signing in the summer from, currently plays for Orebro in Sweden so shouldnt be too expensive"

Hi Ed -I've heard this lads name quite a few times. Do you know what type of player he is ie is he a definsive midfielder in the Edu/McCulloch mode or is he a creative/attacking player (which I think we are more in need of)? If its the latter it may knock any interest in Eremenko on the head. {Ed010's Note - Bedoya is more of an attacking midfielder and this is borne out in him scoring 9 goals from 63 matches. He did have a trial earlier this year with Birmingham City but although he did impress Big Eck, no deal was ever struck.

ed heard a lot of rumours about john sutton possibly comin 2 ibrox u think he'd do a job for us? {Ed010's Note - I am loathed to say yea or nay on that one. Football history is littered, with so called "average" players and Sutton in my humble opinion is average, arriving at bigger clubs and making a huge impact. If he bangs in a hatrick in the Cup Final, I'm sure I may have to rethink my opinion lol

"Ed heard Alot of rumours about Jason puncheon Comin to rangers for 2m was in the evening times today aswell what do u think ? {Ed010's Note -
I did read the article to which you refer but I got slightly annoyed with the price tag that is being banded about. In January, Blackpool were offered the lad for £800,000 but decided against buying him outright. It was then reported yesterday, in one of the Southampton newspapers, that if Blackpool stay up, then the asking price would be £1,000,000 but now that Rangers are interested, the price tag has doubled. I think that he could be a good squad player for us but don't know if he will be anything more than that."

I agree that he would be a good player but for that price I defo feel we could get better. They must think that now we have been bought over that we have loadsa money.

Just a personal opinion; but I really hope Rangers don't sign David Goodwille. I think he is a liability and personally think we can buy much better with the money he is suppose to be worth . .what do you think ed? {Ed010's Note - Isn't it funny how potential signing targets evoke different opinions and it is on that basis, I tend to disagree. I see a bit of a young Ally McCoist in David Goodwillie and if he turns out to be half as good as Ally, he will do for me. You also have to take into account that we need to rebuild our squad and the bare minimum nowadays is for successful teams to have a pool of 4 strikers. Having said that, I hope Ally gives Jelavic and Lafferty a chance to play together at the start of the season because they looked good together, over the last few games, of the season.

Anyone else got an opinion on this topic ?

Wholeheartedly agree Ed

The boy has more to offer up front than say Boyd and look how many he put away for us. He's not a top class striker. .yet. Fact is he has potential and lots of it. We need a pool of players and its horses for courses. He will score for fun for us in the SPL and may make the grade in Europe if given a hand up.

Bluegenius

I tend to agree here too. Goodwillie is young, talented and more to the point, scottish. I think we need to keep playing the young scots that are desperate to prove themselves. if we get two years out of him and make a profit i'd be happy. it can only be good for the national team if we keep improing these lads and making them play with their full ability and confidence.

I fully believe that Conway will be rangers first signing. . McCoist has said again and again that he really likes conway as a player and since he is available for free i say this is a no brainer. . £12-£15k a week, european football and 4 in a row suggests its a no brainer for him too. . . or he could go to the championship and rot away down there. .

Goowillie is a tougher one. . do rangers need a guy with an already tarnished reputation? (allegedly) on the other hand i think him, conway, laffarty, naismith and jelavic in attack for rangers would be frightening for many teams. what do you think ed?

{Ed010's Note - The situation is indeed a problematic one for both Rangers and Goodwillie. If indeed Rangers are interested in signing him, you can rest assured that it would only be if any criminal charges are dropped. I can't see any way that Ally would splash between 1-2 million pounds on a player who could be "jail bound" for a decade or more. If the charges are dropped, then Goodwillie will join the non-elite group of professional footballers against whom alleged criminal offences have been dropped.

I maybe wrong ed, but i was under the impression that puncheon was out of contract at the end of the season, can you confirm this plz???

namba

{Ed010 - It is my understanding that Jason Puncheon was signed from Plymouth Argyle on 30 January 2010 for an undisclosed fee. He put pen to paper on a three and a half year deal and that means he would command a transfer fee.

I'd agree with that I think Goodwillie has a lot of potential. My only concern is his of field antics- they will be heavily focused upon playing for Rangers. As a footballer I think he would be a great signing. I am completely against signing Eremenko though, what do you reckon ed?

GovanFR

{Ed010 - There is no doubt that Eremenko was one of Kilmarnock's better players this season but whether he would be a good signing for us is anyone's guess. At the end of the day, Ally will make the decision and we will find out soon enough.

Considoring that Goodwille has been in talks over the past few weeks, I highly doubt that becaues Celtic have only SHOWN THEIR INTEREST in him, that he would turn around and sign for them, when Rangers are SPL Champions AND are guarnteed Europe next season, and Celtic are neither .

anyway ; from BBC SPORT -

One possible target is Southampton's 24-year-old winger Jason Puncheon now that Vladimir Weiss looks like he will be playing for Espanyol next season. (Daily Express)
