Rangers Rumours Archive June 19 2012

Use our rumours form to send us rangers transfer rumours.

19 Jun 2012 22:28:37
Right only a rumour so no biting my head off.
It is being claimed that although a date of July 4th has been set aside for the spl vote The newco might not even be able to apply for inclusion. The wind up of the old company is expected to take between 6 & 8 weeks
until this is completed Newco can not order new strips or provide catering at Ibrox as those rights are still being held by the companies who hold them and cannot be discharged until liquidation process is complete. The same applies to bank accounts so any ticket money would have to be paid into Greens Sevco 5088 account.

Believable40 Unbelievable13

Am hearing all kinds of rumours like this tonight. Am beginning to doubt we'll be in any division next season in all honesty. BB

Agree0 Disagree0

They have already applied the old company is nothing to do with the newco and sevco own the newco and that company will change its name to whatever the newco will be called so all money will go into that account why would it go into the old one

Agree0 Disagree0

What are you talking about?! Ofcorse the money will go into the sevco account, where else's would it go?!?! He bout the assets so if course he can sell catering etc, do you just not have a clue what's going on here?!

Agree0 Disagree0

What exactly are the other clubs voting on?
14 days notice means it can only be to accept a registration of the share. But only the owner can apply to register the share. The share is currently held by oldclub.
To transfer the share requires 21 days notice and a 90% in favour vote.
So the SPL needs to ask for a transfer of the share first and a vote, BEFORE they can ask for a registration approval.
Its a mess!

Agree0 Disagree0

Any business carried out (catering etc.) from the date of the newco forming will of course go into their or Sevco's bank account. Any business carried out in the period before the newco MAY not and will be viewed by the liquidators BDO as their money, they will view that as business by the old company and that includes season ticket renewals - the renewal forms were issued by the old Rangers company and therefore the money may still go to their bank account NOT the new Sevco account - be very careful about this, don't pay £500 for a season ticket that you might never get. I've asked the question of where the money will go and Duff & Phelps haven't bothered to reply and The Rangers have said they don't know!

Agree0 Disagree0

Seems that any money paid now is going to the dead RFC and not Sevco, something to do with not having proper bank accounts/credit lines or something.

Agree0 Disagree0

I honestly believe we should take a year out of Scottish football to give us the time to sort everything out - and that includes setting up a supporters trust to buy the club . If St. Mirren can do this , why can`t we ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Your worrying about the pies when the club is going through the mincer!

Agree0 Disagree0

since its obvious that we will be forced to play in either the 1rst division, or more likely the 3rd, would it not make sense to have 3 year season tickets for say 800 pounds, im sure we could still sell 40,000 tickets giving us a pot of around 32 million to get us going again, we could also sell some top players for around 10-12 million and replace them with bosmans on sustainable wages. looks like the only option for me.........

Believable18 Unbelievable28

40000 st holders in div 3? Not a chance and all your 'top' players are leaving for nothing.

Briggs

Agree0 Disagree0

Im a tim and that is prob the best post iv read in a long time ,only object is money is short every where but good luck it will take peaple like you to go forward

Agree0 Disagree0

You haven't sold 40, 000 season tickets ever

Agree0 Disagree0

There are no top players to sell on, yet. It is not an automatic transfer of players over to Sevco FC. It is the players' choice whether they do or not.
However, the three year season ticket may be a go-er.
Al

Agree0 Disagree0

You were making great sense up to the point about the players!

They are as good as free agents as ooh as green makes any attempt to tupe them! Why do you think they are all still contracted to oldco? Ffs get this into your head, green owns a stadium, training ground and car park but has no team and no league to play them in!
Otherwise a great thought out post! And a perfect example of why the rest of Scottish football hate the rangers when they're not laughing at it!
Selling players you don't own for millions! Brilliant!

Agree0 Disagree0

I applaud your optimism, in reality less than 20,000 fans will pay £300 for season tickets, this may or may not be enough to turn the lights on at Ibrox and MP.

Anorak.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree but if we go down to the third youngsters are the only way ahead with couple of senior players

Agree0 Disagree0

Servco no longer has Ibrox or Murray park ! Don't know who has it now, but it ain't greens Servco ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Pretending for minute that £32M is achievable, if you do a Ticketus and gamble on your future season ticket sales and the players TUPE across only to be sold, where does the money come in during years 2 and 3?

Once the 3 year tickets have been sold, and the players whored for the best price you have nothing left to sell, but the stadium maintenance (or rent!) will have to be paid, as will the players wages and tax, strips and equipment, as well as travel to the away games will all need to be found

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you mean sell a group of players for £10 - £12 million, i hope so because i cant think of one player worth that on his own?

Agree0 Disagree0

What happens if you pay 3 years money and they go tits up again or green does a white and takes all the money

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a bad idea at all mate, it works out at around 24 ponds a month, we would be back to havibg a waiting list if walter had got the keys, and by the way the players are an asset, the same as the stadium. auchenhowie and the albion. they are all now owned by servco...fact....

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds good but after the initial financial boost we then have no major income for the next two seasons ??? doesn't make much sense to me at all!

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course i meant a few players, and how can green run away with the season ticket money if were paying it up over 36 months, what i cant understand is how green expects to run the company at profit when it has been loosing over a million a month for years? the only way to survive is to have a team full of bosmans on sustainable wages for the next 3-4 years, and of course the full support of the fans and that will only be acheived when green bails out and rangers man come in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why pay three years income to a consortium who may be gone in less that a year having first blown three years income? - Jaxie

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't it be easier for Green to borrow from Ticketus on 2 years ticket sales?

Agree0 Disagree0

Players are not assets of Servco as upon liquidation they transfer to ownership of the SFA as a player cannot be owned by a third party. Fact (see everyone can do it!)

Agree0 Disagree0

Cunning plan Baldrick with just one tiny weeny flaw

nobody would buy them because they would fear the club will be in administration again after year one

Agree0 Disagree0

"since its obvious that we will be forced to..... " It is far from obvious. What's obvious to me is that one of 2 things will happen. a) We will be voted into the SPL and a lot of people will complain. or b) We will cease to exist. Again.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jaxie, it will be payed to them over 36mths.....keep up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Where did the OP say that the £32M was to be used in the first year?

Agree0 Disagree0

I've been a ST holder for 20 years an have followed Glasgow Rangers for 35 years all over Europe and I've ran a bus from West Lothian for last 10 years. This year it stops. I'm peed off wi aw this nonsense. SDM and his crooked cronies have killed my club and I will not be following any 'Newco' .I'd rather go an watch Livingston. I feel I have done nothing but line the pockets of a bunch of crooks for 20 years and as far as I'm concerned we cheated our way to a lot of these titles. Glasgow Rangers died but I will remember them only BM (before Murray) after that ,not with pride because I am ashamed to be a Rangers supporter.
I loved Rangers, they bunch of bstrds killed them. Tam B

Still not set my season ticket renewal back was waiting to see what division we will be playing in first. Does Charles Green expect full season ticket price if we are playing in the 3rd division?

Gers1986

Believable28 Unbelievable8

Off course he does bcause he knows u dont do walking away

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers till I die wAtp but mr green better b offering value for money. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont think you need to worry as the way things are going rangers will not be playing in any league next season

Agree0 Disagree0

Your clubs fighting for its existence are your not forking out for your ticket and you call yourselfs supporters ?? PATHETIC

Agree0 Disagree0

We will be in the SPL though. The 8-4 vote will scrape us in. And then there might be sanctions handed out which we will have time to appeal. We will appeal in all manners possible. and by the time all that is resolved the season will already have started and it will be too late (maybe a points deduction)

Agree0 Disagree0

Still a bit early to be giving away your cash. What league are we playing in, who is in the consortium, what's happening with the players, what sanctions are we going to endure etc, etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ohh to early to give money away what league ?? what sanctions ?? whats happening with the players before we part with 400 pound of our money .... did green know the answers before he forked out 5.5 million ?? NO... but he took the chance and you want to drive him out ?? hes doing more for your club than any supporter has

Agree0 Disagree0

Green may hv invested 5.5m knowing nothing but green will walk away with treble his investment after a year. The ordinary rangers fan is buying a product not knowing what that product is or whether a refund is an option if it goes wrong! Would you buy something you didn't know what you were buying? You Celtic fans have short memories and quite frankly a ridiculous post. Have a wee think mate. It's got nothing to do with not supporting your team!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm happy to buy a season tick, but I am not paying 800 quid while the other supporters are paying 120 quid. That would make us gullible fools being milked by a big business.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes he wants you to pay the £455 or whatever. And then the club will go into administration again, deducting enough points to ensure they can't even get out of Div 3.

Agree0 Disagree0

But green will walk away with treble his investment after a year. ... if newco is in third and fans dont buy tickets how is green gonna walk away with treble his investment ?? is some wee tooth fairy gonna drop a wad of cash under his pillow ?? you need to have a wee think mate if you want to fork out 3rd division prices then your gonna have a 3rd division club and theirs no club playing in 3rd will have a 16.5 million pound turnaround for him to walk away with get a grip of yourself man

Agree0 Disagree0

And... or whether a refund is an option if it goes wrong! well now you know how the creditors feel that yous ripped of they wont get a refund ... and celtic fans short memories ?? we watched our club buy guys like wane biggens when we cleared our debt over a five year period winning nothing but the fans still forked out and every one owed money was paid ... and all while yous where cheating

Agree0 Disagree0

How much should a NewCo Rangers Season ticket cost for the 3rd division ?

If we buy a season ticket now do we get a rebate.

Queens park season tickets are about 150 quid I believe.

Believable25 Unbelievable6

Shire's were £120, so reckon your £150 would be about right.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we go into division two (england) then I would pay the same as in the SPL

Agree0 Disagree0

Why doesn't some one start selling football special train season tickets to all pionts south. These deluded fools who keep talking about the English leagues are clutching at non existant straws. There is more chance of Elvis Presley playing in a Rangers strip than there is of Rangers playing in England.

Agree0 Disagree0

You're not going to go into League 2 in England - you'd have to start right at the bottom of the pyramid system which would be about 15 leagues away from the top. Not that you'll be allowed to play in the English leagues anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye he wants what you paid last year because he believed rangers fans when they said they would never walk away and let the club die! Mug.

Agree0 Disagree0

Elvis did play for Rangers some folks have a short memory {Ed039's Note - Played for Celtic as well)

Agree0 Disagree0

With the stadium...big players, your will need to pay full spl price unless cut cut our costs {Ed039's Note - Even in the SPL Rangers would need to cut their cloth for next season, and quite considerably)

Agree0 Disagree0

About 145 quid for the ticket fellows bears

Agree0 Disagree0

Aren't they cheaper being that you can pay £2 on match day to get in?

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats not value for money wee craigy is selling the club for £2 and you are expected to pay £150-£500 a season talk about having the wool pulled over your eyes

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe we'll get into england.... are we from england?! no. can we get into england? no. who says? fifa. sick of this

lord nelson

Agree0 Disagree0

Have you forgotten elvis did play for gers and it wasnt his guitar doug t.s.o

Agree0 Disagree0

"With the stadium...big players, your will need to pay full spl price unless cut cut our costs" - You don't pay London west end theatre prices to watch a school play !!

Agree0 Disagree0

This could be a downward spiral. Lower gates and lower prices mean (obviously) less income and less money for the team. But there are fixed costs like the upkeep of Ibrox to take into account. At some point the company gets into a situation of spiralling losses.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2012 17:17:30
we all keep complaining about, how we dont want green etc, why as us as the fans the life and bread of the club not done alot more to save the club. What happened to the rangers fighting fund. This whole liquidation is killing me. I dont see why we couldnt have come up with the money to buy the club over. They say it would take 15 million now to buy green out thats only £300 for 50000 die hard rangers fans to come up with but why couldnt we have did this when in administration and made a better cva pot. I just think we have sat back and done no where near enough to save our club.

Believable36 Unbelievable15

I've pumped enough cash into my club thanks... Season after season renewing season tickets, official merchandise, trips abroad. I'm not throwing anymore money at Rangers for some business man to run us in to the ground again and make what he can off it. My room was a rangers shrine growing up... Curtains, wallpaper, bed sheets, lamp shades, duvet set, broxi bear, posters, framed photos. At the rate all this crap is dragging on and the rate all the new nonsense keeps cropping up I can't help wonder if I even care anymore.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why did you not listen to me when you first went into administration. You should have walked away and got yourself organised and one of the Blue Knights or whoever would have been forced to work with you for the benfit of the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

You outline the easy bit, buying it.After that you have running costs, maintaining ibrox and murray park.Lots of cash...........green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

Heard that Green would possibly accept
11 m from Walters group but the consortium
are not prepared to put in more than 6m,
why could the supporters not put in £100
each to make up the difference and in turn
get some shout in the future of the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree, money men done nothing, fans waited on leader that never arrived, disgusted and angry that we could not agree cva pay debt and continue our history. Keep ur chin up mate. Sad bluebear

Agree0 Disagree0

And once the fans have bought him out, where does the money come from?

Agree0 Disagree0

100% correct, as a season ticket holder for 27 years it has broken my heart, I don't care what anyone says it will never be the same again.

I worked it out from the very start when it emerged we were potentially £134 million in debt inc EBT's that if 50,000 Rangers fans worldwide contributed £2680 each as a one off payment that wiped out the £134 million, or 100,000 Rangers fans contributed £1340 as a one off payment equals the same.

If all our groups had got together I honestly believe we could have achieved this. It could have went down as one of the biggest share issues of all time.

I know some people will post that they could not afford this which is totally understandable but I firmly believe this could have been achieved .

I hope certain individuals who have brought this great institution to it's knees can sleep at night.

Stu

Agree0 Disagree0

Part of the problem was that for too long the WATP mentality fueled to an extent by the laptop loyal masked the problem and there was an "it'll be ok, we're the mighty Ranger" blind defiance or ignorance to the imending danger than was coming.

For me I am surprised at Smith and his consortium of two, as £10m to them is not much to save the club they claim to love rather than joining the growing list of people who tried to buy the club on the cheap

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't have £300 spare

Agree0 Disagree0

I had mentioned back in feb a gurantee company be set up to combat this issue 200000 options available at £600 which could be set up over 2 years £25 a month with reduction in season ticket to season ticket holders who take there option. Would ask a lot but the world and europes banks are in meltdown. What you think ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Rational average thinking ordinary Rangers supporters... will not follow Green's sham of a club through the lower divisions.
Diehard fans such as some that frequent this page, maybe, yes. But not everyone and I'm pretty sure large numbers will just not be bothered and will find something else to do on a Saturday. Life is too short.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think ur rite priorities all wrong ,when mo johnston signed there were thousands outside ibrox sreaming and shouting , but liquidation 3 men and a dug (says it all )

Agree0 Disagree0

For me I am surprised at Smith and his consortium of two, as £10m to them is not much to save the club they claim to love rather than joining the growing list of people who tried to buy the club on the cheap.

just to point out the sir wattie group came in after the cva failed and liquidation was ensured so your club wasnt saved

Agree0 Disagree0

I can just imagine 100,000 husbands, telling their wifes and kids they are not going on holiday this year, because the football club they support can't pay their bills.

The OP is obviously rich or single.

Rangers fans were offered the chance to own their own club and they walked away.

I am getting bad vibes about the number of real fans that wil support Rangers through at least 3 years of misery and failure. Rangers may never return to its former heights, it may be commercially impossible.

Anorak.

Agree0 Disagree0

I just cant believe theres no been more done from us fans to stop this, iv never felt so down in my life. we need a leader and theres been no one. walter and sandy headed the rfff but just dont think they did enough to unite us all in the hour off need when the club needed us most. i also dint know if the feeling will be the same for the new rangers going forwards. Murray n whyte are getting away with murder here. Especially Murray, 50000 should be at his front door wanting answers. Im sick of reading coloums in papers from ex players saying this n that bout situation but iv never seen them front something to do sumit bout it. we have had great leaders on the pitch in the past but now when there needed most they let us go surely they have got what they want from us £££.

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't Rangers fans have there chance to put money into the club when Minty had his share issue? No one took him up on it and that is why your club is now dead.

Agree0 Disagree0

Correct minty ended up having to underwrite the shares himself so where wer all the loyal fans then ? You still can't remove your head from the sand !

Agree0 Disagree0

Bottom line we have all been duped by those in power. Can't blame the manager, players or the fans. Take it on the chin down to 3rd show those picking the bones of a dead carcass what real Rangers supporters are and back the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

"telling their wifes and kids they are not going on holiday this year"
--

What one holiday to contribute to the saving of your club. hardly a big deal. OP correct should have happened problem was everyone's plan was to buy the club then do a shares issue.

The people we needed to buy the club couldn't afford it or weren't interested in buying at the right time.

Agree0 Disagree0

"Didn't Rangers fans have there chance to put money into the club when Minty had his share issue?"
--

Seriously can't you do some research instead of believing the nonsense you read somewhere sometime.

Uninformed nonsense from the obsessed, why isn't it surprising.

Agree0 Disagree0

The fans should be starting their own club. They should be applying for the 3rd divison and setting up a ground share with Partick or Queen's park. The old rangers is dead and owning the assets does not entitle you to the loyalty of the fans. A fan backed club starting in the third and playing to crowds of maybe 20,000 at hampden could up to the SPL in no time. There would be no debt and I think the need for million pound rich backers would be gone too. If you ended upp in the SPL crowds could be back up to 40000 and that would just about fill hampden. Its not Rangers that are the dead weight it is Ibrox and Murry Park. They are not assets, they are LIABILITIES and if cut loose from them then you might have a chance of survival. What ever happens it is likely that Green will sell Ibrox and Murry park to developers who can MAKE money out of them. There is a good chance that there will be no football at Ibrox next season

Agree0 Disagree0

Some of you guys make me laugh, £300 a head, listen Bro its a well known fact when the old Rangers were having a bad run of results, the fans deserted the team, like rats deserting a sinking ship! What makes you think the fans of the new Rangers, as the other one is history, will not do the same. You would be lucky if you collected about 30K

According to Channel 4 's Alex Thomson
more big revelations to come out...
who's been naughty this time? Timalloy

Believable27 Unbelievable22

Makes you wonder why Smith has dropped his offer and is walking away, doesn't want to be part of the consortium!

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, after today's events, I'd assume it involves Walter Smith and an Rangers funded EBT outside his time at Ibrox.

Anyway, at this moment in time I feel betrayed and I've almost lost my appetite for the game. Surely things can't just keep getting worse for Rangers.

The fans deserve so much better. Because no matter what anybody might say we have some of the finest fans imaginable. BB

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe Another SPL side has been using EBT's aswell,

Agree0 Disagree0

Things could not possibly get any worse than they already are. So bring on the 'revelations' (I expect this is just rhetoric anyway)

Agree0 Disagree0

Is he the guy in the "inn betweeners" ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Whatever happened to the journo who threatened him, seem to remember him trumpeting it on clyde.ahh that's right it was a spoof account

Agree0 Disagree0

Now I remember him, he was the reporter who gave us the scoop that D&P rejected a guy with 350m funds. Quaking at the thought of another of his scoops timalloy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think it's McLeish

£150 is still better than what the self proclaimed greatest fans in the world paid under their world-beating manager tony mowbary? Short memories

Agree0 Disagree0

Alex Thomson:Ch4 news spoke to the lawyer who represented a former rangers manager-he said there is a massive fraud waiting to come out ie rangers!Obviously you still think he,s a ch4 newsreader Do your homework please or Alex Thomson will do it for you thats why he,s a 20 yr war correspondent and head of ch4 news!

Agree0 Disagree0

Souness is just a teaser for something bigger. For a number of years lot of big money was changing hands for players that weren't really big stars at all and certainly not worth those sums. So what was *really* happening....?

Agree0 Disagree0

Believe it's about EBTs mentioned in RFC/MIH annual accounts that refer to EBT payments made to "Employees and Other Service Providers".

Recent TV programme highlighted a number of EBT employees, but so far the indentities of who or what lies behind the "Other Service Providers" has remained unearthed.

Agree0 Disagree0

If smith was in or even knew about the ETB's he should have no part of Rangers, this Mr Dignity act cuts no ice with me as I have hade direct dealing with him in the past.

Green likely to do a share issue at some point to raise capital, how many rangers fans will buy shares in a newco?

Believable20 Unbelievable17

Good question, because not a lot of takers in last share issue in old co.

Time to step up to the mark Bears.

Agree0 Disagree0

How many bought them the last time when Murray tried this ? Was it 3% ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Murray never raised more than a million

Agree0 Disagree0

To the poster regarding the 3% take up on the last share issue, would you have taken up a share issue that was solely designed to reduce debt and not to invest in the team or the club??

Agree0 Disagree0

Im not sure he can do a share issue as its only a linited company?

Agree0 Disagree0

He won't do a share issue for 12 months and he won't do a share issue unless he's in the SPL a share issue might be some time off if he does an earlier share issue in an unstable new company it could be a nightmare trying to attract investors.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you are mad enough to give any money to this man I wish you luck.
He told us that he had 20 investors. Has he ? Ian Hart was then revealed as a major investor. Is he ? Glenmuir are a another big investor. Are they ? He was looking to buy several players who are at the Euros. Really ? Any players who leave will be in breach of contract. Will they ? He claimed not to have spoken to Dave King, who tells us details of two telephone calls. Okay ? He denied a plot to get rid of Ally. Believe him ?
And he expects us to believe him when he tells us he is not just an asset stripper.

Agree0 Disagree0

Key question is when is the next pay day.... did not look like a lot of money in greens pot... and payday could take £1-£2 million out of that and will be a big payout, with tax pay as well.

time for green to tell us his backers and how much money he has to spend.

Agree0 Disagree0

Murray share issue was totally different.

Agree0 Disagree0

£1m versus £40m target

Agree0 Disagree0

Yip no doubt he will because the guys he owes the £5.5 million to will not be happy with what he has bought with his money. But don't worry he will pick up the investors on E/bay it his last port of call as everyone else is blanking him. But don't worry D&P are still sniffing around trying to decide weather to leave the office they have at Ibrox or just to hang around for the next Admin job.

Agree0 Disagree0

As a Hibs fan I GENUINELY FEEL for the mass of decent Rangers supporters, during this fiasco.

Businessmen, regardless of their feelings for football clubs never make a donation(for want of a better phrase) they make loans. The only people who make donations are the genuine football fans in the form of share purchase. The type of shares offered are comletely useless. They never make any money, never mind a return of capital.

Green has stated that he intends to raise a rights issue. The majority of capital raised will no doubt be pocketed by his investors. Emotional blackmail!?

Turn the screws on the buggers. Make it be known that the fans will only buy preference shares(that way you will get preference when/if the club is sold in the future, and prior rights to dividends) and the money raised will be invested in the football club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Greens purchase depended on Rangers staying in the SPL
it was a condition, was it not?
So what happens if we get kicked out?

According to BBC we can't use the name Rangers for a whole year! This gets worser every day. Im not going to support a team called Sevco 5088, even for one year!

BBC Scotland has learned that Charles Green's Sevco 5088 company is not currently permitted to inherit the name "The Rangers Football Club".

Any attempt to adopt the name "The Rangers Football Club" would require the approval of the liquidators, BDO.

Companies House has said that a name change application has not been made by Sevco 5088, and may not be possible.

The consortium insists the full name will be transferred over to Sevco 5088 in due course.

"The Rangers Football Club P.L.C.", which has the registered company number SC004276, has not yet been dissolved, but will inevitably be liquidated due to unpaid debts.

BBC Scotland can confirm that the company's liquidators, BDO, have not yet taken control of the company's affairs, and may not do so for some time.

Believable30 Unbelievable5

You need to get the facts right. We can't use the name 'Rangers' again, it's 'The Rangers' that we might not be able to use for 12 months, or for ever.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ye I was just reading that earlier as well, that does not look good, especially in the time frame for which it is required, also what is to stop anyone from contacting companies house and taking up a name of anything relating to Rangers leaving Green no options of calling the club after Rangers....but by some other name, Govan F.C or something, it is not looking good at all....more hurdles to get over. bill

Agree0 Disagree0

There is a law that a new company cannot trade too closely to the liquidated company it replaces.Colours, badge and name might cause problems............green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

It's any name with the word Rangers, they are not allowed to use any similar ones either this includes words like THE

As a rangers fan i tried to stay positive through all of this no matter what everyone else thought.I really thought i would beable to follow the newco no matter what div we played in.But now i am close to the point where i think its just not worth it.Please sort this out whatever the outcome or i am afraid i am lost to scottish football forever.

Why not try to use 'Glasgow Rangers'?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, Sevco 5088 sounds a bit like a washine machine spare part.

To the 2nd responder; too late. Check the whole story on the BBC website (not just the edited version above). Many variations have been registered already.

What about Team X or Club 12? ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

D&P (BDO dont need to get involved yet as not in control ) change oldco name and once done Green can change Newco. not complicated, BBC making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Agree0 Disagree0

Call it strangers or zombies

Agree0 Disagree0

Cos 'Glasgow Rangers' was probably registered by celtic supporters last year - and you would have to pay them a royalty to use it as a company name... {Ed039's Note - Could have been registered by anybody, people have been making good money doing this sort of thing for years)

Agree0 Disagree0

Al, that was the point I was trying to make, Green would prefer"the Rangers Football Club" to be the 'NEW"name, what is to stop anyone and everyone contacting company house to take up any name that maybe relevant in respect to Glasgow Rangers Football Club? leaving Green very few options to actually connect the "New" club with the "Old" club, which would obviously drive many "old" club supporters away.....

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the most suitable name for the club after the farces, promises and disappointments of the past 3 months should be Hokey Cokey they are in they are out they are in again to mess us all about.
Disgusted with the lot of them, Murray,Smith,White, TBK. Rangers Men my Auntie, each and everyone of them are just glory hunting robbing badstarts

D&P (BDO dont need to get involved yet as not in control ) change oldco name and once done Green can change Newco. not complicated, BBC making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Not that simple..you can't change the name just like that.. the reg number is issues against a name...that is name until Dissolved which looks like a 12 month timescale

Green won't get Newco on park this season so don't much matter!

Agree0 Disagree0

Leaves the door open for BDO to sell the rights to the name Rangers to another party rather than give it to Green for nothing.

If that sounds mad, the rights to use the name Rolls Royce were sold separately from the factory where Rolls Royce cars were made a few years ago (which became Bentley).

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the club should be called govan football club the rangers football club is only a trading name for the meantime sad to say till we are finally liquidated

Agree0 Disagree0

Company name not the Club name....on the football side Rangers will still be Rangers. The name of the club has never been in doubt, the name of the Company is.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not that simple..you can't change the name just like that.. the reg number is issues against a name...that is name until Dissolved which looks like a 12 month timescale

Rubbish, a company doesn't change it's registered number every time it changes it's name. Get your facts right.

Supporters who want us to play in Div 3 are failing to see 1 big problem.
The running costs of Ibrox including annual property tax would mean that we
would be running at a huge loss (unless we dont pay the players like at Queens Park!)
Season ticket sales to play in Div 3 could obviously not be priced the same as the SPL.
And its doubtful how many people will by them even at knockdown prices.
Crowds coming to support Berwick and Annan will be outnumbered by the stewards
So if its to be Div 3 then funding is a major problem.

Believable24 Unbelievable14

I would gladly pay full SPL prices for season book whatever league we end up in to safe guard the club from oblivion....
I am not a glory hunter, I will be with the club until they are back on top. no surrender.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well i for one will not step foot inside the brox again while green and his cronnies are in power there, while it breaks my heart as a lifelong gers fan and season ticket holder of 25 years i fear the worst those men have no feeling for our club and questions must be asked why are they here ? Listen to the people who have rangers in there blood ! PLEASE dont renew your season tickets and force them back to the table with walter and co .

Agree0 Disagree0

We've been running at a loss for years! Doesn't matter what league, if that's the punishment we're dealt then keep calm and carry on!

Lord Nelson

Agree0 Disagree0

I really am sure most fans would happily pay the full price for a season ticket. I also think for the smaller teams in that division it would be like a cup tie, their likely only chance ever to play Rangers in a league so their fans would flock to Ibrox.

As for the players wages, the big money earners will all very likely leave and youth players on a fraction of the wages will be promoted in their places keeping the wage bill down. BB

Agree0 Disagree0

The biggest percentage of posters on here say they would pay SPL prices to dig the team out of this mess.............green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

Get your rich owner to pick up the bills....if he can;t afford it...borrow from the bank and don't pay it back...or how about not paying your tax, that would help.....new club, same problems.

Agree0 Disagree0

I posted a similar message some weeks ago. Everyone assumes if TRFC start in Div.3 they will automatically gain promotion to the SPL in 3 years. However you need a benefactor i.e. someone who is willing to donate money to your cause in order to achieve this. You will need to pay SPL wages while receiving less gate money, less corporate sponsorship money and selling fewer pies. The fact that a Scottish billionaire felt unable to support you during this time sums up the mire newco are in.
Liah Smit

Agree0 Disagree0

To the guy who tells us not to renew season ticket books --- Walter had his chance, him and his millionaire buddies didn't think Rangers were worth more than £6 million. So much for Rangers in their blood.

Now Walter's obviously been given the nod we won't be allowed back in the SPL and has decided to walk away. What was the point of his last minute bid. It strikes me as pretty pathetic and most of my Gers fans agree although he will always be our greatest ever manager. BB

Agree0 Disagree0

Assuming 40,000 season ticket holders paid in full up front, surely there is still not enough income from division 3 to pay for the current wages and running costs?spl money wasnt enough so how can division 3 money be enough ?specially with alot of first team players probably going to leave for free, and replacements need to be found. not a dig just saying. DD

Agree0 Disagree0

"The fact that a Scottish billionaire felt unable to support you"

Maybe the reason he is a "billionaire" (or close enough) is because he is an astute businessman.

When you are negotiating with people like Charles Green you don't chase them, you wait for them to chase you.

Agree0 Disagree0

The team all us bears supported is gone we no longer have a team to support they were liquidated last week unless we choose the new club 12 which is an entirely different team and has absolutely nothing to do with the now dead RFC 1872 - 2012.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on.
Remember how many SPL3 games are played in front of 300 to 700 spectators.
This is a completely different ball game (no pun intended).
So many of us think SPL3 is the honourable way out, but it would be a colossal culture change for most people.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've also heard news from the ticket offices that hundreds of the automated season ticket renewals are being cancelled each day.

Agree0 Disagree0

We've got to stick together and get behind the team - no matter where we are playing next season. For all real Rangers supporters that is the only way.

Agree0 Disagree0

We must stick by the newco we will definatly not be called the rangers football club as it is too close to the old name its only a trading name just now the old club is not liquidated yet

Agree0 Disagree0

Fiorentina still drew crowds of 40,000 when relegated to the bottom tier of Italian football. Maybe a generation of bears brought up in the good times will balk at the idea of Rangers in the 3rd Div, but it is the only honourable option open to us if truly wish to rebuild our clubs reputation.

Agree0 Disagree0

Big watty has been tipped off we're out the SPL and into div 3 . The gers are worth hee haw . Nay players , Div 3 money and no sign of cash coming in soon .
When we do get back up to the SPL then what sort of investment is required to bolster the squad and make us once more competitive ?.
I think it's more than obvious that Charlie has bought a pup here and he'll be desperate for a buyer or an offer like watty's once we get hoofed out the SPL . If we don't get kicked out the SPL then the whole game in Scotland is a joke . Sad times ahead but we will survive .

Dave King says Charles Green is now only show in town but he's sceptical his business plan can work. He also believes huge cost cutting needed if Charles Green's plan is to work.

King was in Glasgow to get assurances Craig Whyte is no longer involved. He says he's confident he's had those assurances.

Believable6 Unbelievable19

Agree with cost cutting, can't see how we can afford Ally or any decent players playing in D3 or even out of Europe. Green needs to unveil exactly what the model will be after 4th July.

Agree0 Disagree0

Green's backers will not input the money necessary to finance the football club, without a drastic cut back to the annual overheads. £10m plus loan repayments plus financial penalties imposed by SPL/SFA?

I also doubt he has paid the £5.5m for the assets, considering he has a clause enabling him to retract should Rangers not be accepted to the SPL Same as purchasing a house, you don't pay the money until you take occupation, but you are legally bound to pay, under completion of contract.

Considering Green has a vast number of disgruntled/doubting customers i.e. Rangers fans, players who will in all probability be able to walk about for nothing, I don't think we have heard the last of Walters plans.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes cost cutting....if they are real rangers men they will stay with the club, I am talking about Ally more than the players although look at Juve, Del Piero stayed with them through thick and thin....legends are made through actions NOT words. bill

Agree0 Disagree0

Bill

would you work for a fraction of you're pay if someone offered you more money? the high earners will be off, no doubt about it, a footballers career doesnt last long, most of the high earners would will be in their 30's before the the Newco gets back into the top division, sorry to burst you're bubble, but you're living in dreamland.

Agree0 Disagree0

You are deluding yourself if you think players are going to hang around this club now. Maybe the odd one or two who are in the twighlight years but guys with some years ahead will want the big money and /or European football.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can we pop back to reality for a minute, Mr Green has not the foggiest what Rangers income will be in order to cut costs to suit. He has no business plan, he is flying by the seat of his pants into the great unknown. One can be certain of only a few things, Rangers average attendance for multifarious reasons will not remain at 46,000 for the next 3 years, and no investor is going to bankroll losses they will never recover.
Rangers ultimate goal is to achieve the same financial position as Celtic, and they break even without Europe.

Green may persuade some investors to buy 5.5 million of recoverable assets, but he will never persuade an investor to plough millions into a high risk-break even business model.

He hopes to use the ticket money long enough to raise a fans share issue, and I believe it will flop.

Anorak.

Agree0 Disagree0

There all ovskis no doubt about it

Agree0 Disagree0

Walter walked away because he can see Green's business plan hasn't a hope. He as good as said that in his statement. King has said the same. Green clearly is hiding some of his cards up his sleeve. This story isn't over by a long chalk.

Agree0 Disagree0

Guys as I stated in my original post I was more talking about Ally than the players( i know a football career is not long) it was not head in the sand theory and I referrenced del piero with regards to the juve demotion....for a managerial experience, if he is allowed to stay Manager, I think it would do Ally the world of good to build a team with no money and work his way through the leagues, it will certainly teach him for the future, look at Lambert he started off in the lower divisions learning his trade, it can only help mccoist, I mean he would have been sacked if there was not the turmoil of this season on his record....bill

Walter knows his name is on those EBT's as well, Ally to, sticking with the point in hand, by offering £6 million to buy Green out was insulting to say the least, Walter knew when he chucked it last year this was about to erupt, now he come in like a saviour only to f off after a day or two, his group were playing a dangerous game, don't they know that Green could sell off Ibrox etc and walk away with a lot more than 6 mill??? as for the planned Walter march, the dummy who thought that idea up is certainly going the right in way in forcing Green to walk away with plenty, imo he will walk away anyway.

New Co Rangers is not for me. Queens Park, founded 1867. They have the national stadium, one of only 29 Uefa Cat 3 stadiums. Wont 2 league titles and 10 Scottish Cups. Rangers: Walter Smith group drops bid for club
The consortium led by former manager Walter Smith has withdrawn its offer to take over the 'newco' Rangers.

Smith announced a last-minute bid, shortly before Charles Green completed his purchase of the Ibrox club's assets in a deal worth £5.5m.

But the group are stepping back after talks with Green.

"We very much hope the verbal assurances they provided to us - and the public statements made - are adhered to," said Smith.

Green was quick to invite Smith and his backers on board, offering to take the 64-year-old on as chairman of the football club.

However, Smith and his associates have declined to combine forces with Green's consortium.

"I would like to clarify the background to the offer of £6m for the assets of the club which I announced on Thursday," read a statement from Smith.

"The offer was made to the administrators before the Charles Green consortium had concluded their transaction to acquire the assets.

"We felt it necessary to have a fall-back position to secure the club's future. We have since made the same offer of £6m to the Green consortium through Zeus Capital.

"Our offer has been rejected and they have made a counter-offer inviting us to join their consortium.

"However, the current business plan is not in accord with our understanding of the present circumstances of the club and the way forward, but we wouldprefer to leave them to proceed in their own way and we wish them good luck in their endeavours.

"Members of our consortium had met with Charles Green and Zeus Capital prior to the CVA (company voluntary agreement) meeting and it had been agreed that we would be provided with significant information which would give us comfort as to the identity of the consortium members, their strategy and their funding capacity.

"This information had not been forthcoming by the date of our offer.

"We are therefore withdrawing completely from the process to enable Charles Green and his consortium to move forward.

"We very much hope the verbal assurances they provided to us - and the public statements made - are adhered to and that the Ccub will therefore be financed and managed with appropriate governance and can go forward in a sustainable manner.

"We wish the new Rangers Football Club every good fortune."

Believable13 Unbelievable1

So this was nothing more than the Blue Knights bid repeated, albeit with Walter as front rather than Murray.

Did anyone actually see Walter being interviewed. Probably Kennedy or Murray with a cardboard Walter mask on. Thought it odd Walter being out of country.

What a waste of time and a distraction! No more from these timewasters and by the way King, you can do one as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

I cannot see why the Smith consortium came in at all, seems they have just muddied the waters of Green's bid to move the new club forward, I would suspect it has also sullied the relationship he would ever have had with the supporters, after the Smith's disturbance, why come in at the last minute and offer very little, I mean he had a billionaire...but could not offer 15/20 million Green had asked for? does not make sense, also if they are such Rangers men then why not throw the 6 million offered into the pot and join the football board of the new team? he has really dented his reputation with this nonsense in my eyes.

Walter smiths consortium withdraws bid to buy rangers.
If Walter and his consortium really cared about the club they would have been bidding months ago and would have done whatever it took to gain control of the club, now they have just proven themselves to be another bunch of charlatans along with the rest of the failed bidders when the club was in administration.I think it says a lot about the people who claim to have rangers best intrests at heart when the only person prepared to put money on the table when it really mattered is a man from Yorkshire who didn't even know who Davie copper is.Shame on you Walter I think I will support the only person who has stood up to be counted.good luck Charles green.

Sounds like we'll get in.

Believable3 Unbelievable27

I wish this farce would end now with us being demoted to the third division.

SPL = Sel Preservation League.

Taking titles to justify keeping us in the SPL, and therefore saving other breadline teams from the same fate as ourselves.

Fascicle.....

Agree0 Disagree0

A secret ballot means we will get in?what r u talkibg about?they could secretly vote 11/1.

Agree0 Disagree0

The SPL can't bring any charges until after the Big Tax Case decision is made. Otherwise, the SPL could stand accused of prejudicing the outcome of the BTC.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fans can stop supporting Scottish football...and will. This is a defining moment for the game in Scotland. NewFRC want into the SPL, great, that will destroy the whole thing. Not satisfied by destroying your own club/reputation/history you want to set the game back 140 years so everyone needs to start again.

Well done...yuo all must be so proud to call yourself supporters of a non-existent club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely RFCIA relinquish their SPL share as thet are being liquidated and therefore cease to exist. And how can the newco vote in their place when they are not a member?
Also, does this not change the voting structure is only 11 members are allowed to vote which will be detrimental to newco chances.

Agree0 Disagree0

BTC has already been decided. It's just the appeal decision that's waiting. SPL charges will not prejudice the appeal. HMRC have already filed the double contracts with Tribunal which is why thety found against RFC. Where do you think the BBC got their copies of the double contracts for recent programme.

Agree0 Disagree0

Secret ballot?what would mcoist say,he wants transparency!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

We shouldn't be looking at the other clubs voting us in or out of SPL, we should stand tall and apply for 3rd division and start a new chapter in order to regain dignity from our wrong doings.

This whole thing is now a total farce and embarassment.

I cant make my mind up on this, anyone else got an opinion, Ed, other readers? Have D&P made matters better or worse by holding onto the relevant EBT/two contracts documents till a time whereby Rangers were going to be a newco by the time the findings were published? The SPL got the documents on May 31st and believe there to be prima facie evidence that charges will follow. That took a grand total of 18 days to establish. Sounds like there was proof and plenty of it available with even a cursory glance. Have D&P played a blinder by holding this back or would it have been better to have been handed over immediately and have the punishments incurred by the oldco which was on a shoogly peg anyway? Any thoughts? Technically it may help the newco but given the quickness of the decision to proceed it may be argued that they would have come to that decision just as quickly had the documents been handed over when first requested ie during the time of the oldco. Did D&P ask for any opinions on this from within or outside Ibrox? They truly seem like a law unto themselves at time, doing things that don't seem within their normal remit and making arbitrary decisions that have an impact above and beyond those of an administrator.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

D&P held off to avoid puting off potential buyers is my guess. Cynical sellers trick - could give Green a way out if he wants as they would had to have given him certain warranties.

Agree0 Disagree0

Might be way off the mark but I believe CW was calling all the shots and making the decisions. He appointed the administrators, he obviously had aan agenda to liquidate (its all he really knows). Why would any same person challenge what was a lenient sentence and risk the full wrath of SFA, EUFA, FIFA? Made no sense even although they won the case it means forcing SFA to take available actions which are worse. I also believe that CW is still in the background and (hope I'm wrong) WS is being used to force another sale and raise some cash before he flees.

Looking at the situation I think it is clear that the powers that be want not only to punish Rangers (the corporate entity) which is now , or soon will be dead, they also want to punish the club which according to HMRC would be allowed to continue playing football out of Ibrox, that's what they said when they refused the CVA. That is not apparently the same agenda that the SFA nor the SPL have in mind , if we look at their latest declarations they want to kill off the NEWCO as well, perhaps they want to kill off the Rangers fan base, that to me is what it looks like, is this what we deserve? has our behaviour been so bad in the past, no better or worse than the fans from Parkhead but they (THE POWERS THAT BE) should have the B*LLS to say in public what they are trying to achieve.

Believable10 Unbelievable13

It's called Justice - not a witch hunt, not a conspiracy not a different agenda. RFC hindered and hid the facts and it's only now it's coming to roost thanks to some good recent journalism that has unearthed the truth at last.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not just the corporate entity. rangers was liquidated... Simply put, if we weren't liquidated and had to face our debts. Would we keep ibrox? Murray park? The players? The ground staff? The ticket office staff? My point is every single aspect of the club was involved, included and affected. It's not just the company that dies whilst we keep our history. That's not how it works. Rfc died at liquidation. It's a newco
If I was going bust facing liquidation and a person came in at liquidation, bought the assets and renamed the store... No matter how many people liked my store it is over, the history of my store is over. I can't keep saying the history of my store continues through new owners company. Time to get real and face the facts.

Agree0 Disagree0

Did you honestly just claim your fans behaviour has been no worse than celtic's....really...have we forgot Manchester, the video evidence of the last old firm game where rangers fans when on a rampage around the toilet areas of parkhead and how rangers fans still belt out all the old vile at ibrox

Agree0 Disagree0

No worse than Celtic: let me remind you: Barcelona, Ososuna, Manchester, etc etc need i go on. Sorry to Say Rangers will not be able to hold up the league. nor hold anyone to ransom because they do not like the punishments set down by the governing bodies or other member clubs. Rangers do not have the power in this situation as they do no have the operating capital to run the club for any length of time, hence the reason Green offering or should I say asking Walter Smith and his backers to invest.

Dundee United, I would doubt, Hibs I would seriously doubt and being someone who occasionally works in the Aberdeen area, all I can say is no chance.

Anyway, threats to disrupt the SPL aren't going to help are they? BB

Agree0 Disagree0

Nonesense pal. Your idea that rangers somehow have the power here is deluded. start begging and maybe you will have somewhere to play next season. Must tell you something that only half the 3rd Division would want to see you in there league and most of the SPL dont either. The SFA have all the power just now. Sky's statement blew your idea that scottish football will die without you right out of the water.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have no legal basis or mechanism to hold up the league. Even the old Court of Session can't help this time.

On one hand the Bears are contrite, (albeit blaming everyone and their grannie) but in the same hand as we have seen over the past few months, any punishment given out is going to be too much.

RFC brought Scottish Football to a crossroads and they are about to finally receive their just desserts once and for all. So no complaining, take it on the chin and let's move on.

Agree0 Disagree0

The end of football as we know it ?
Also known as " the start of football as we'd rather have it" with all the cheating teams expelled

Agree0 Disagree0

"....rangers will knock back the offer"

Eh, what offer? Rangers are there with begging bowl looking for favours. If SPL knock them back or attach conditions it's take it or p*** off.

Agree0 Disagree0

Poor attempt,no rules and begging you really don't have a clue and as for green there is a FAR FAR FAR BIGGER story in the offing SFA buying time as they can convene a extraordinary meeting within 48hrs and these circumstances come into this category so SFA AND OTHERS who know who they are CALL OR FOLD we are now all in as our cards are truly on the table.once again WATCH THIS SPACE

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers might knock back the offer if there was a rangers to do so, they are being liquidated a new club taking their place has no power

Rangers in crisis: Ibrox club face being stripped of five league titles and a battle to avoid SPL expulsion

NEWCO Rangers could pay for the sins of the old regime after the SPL last night confirmed they had a case to answer over alleged illegal payments to players.
The Ibrox club stand accused of using a dual contract/EBT system and if found guilty they could be stripped of the league titles won between 2000 and 2010.
They could also be expelled immediately from the SPL even if other clubs vote to allow them back in at a crunch Hampden meeting on July 4.
Early indications suggest Ally McCoist's side will struggle to secure the 8-4 majority needed to win re-entry.
St Mirren and Motherwell were quick to issue statements which claimed any club found guilty of financial wrongdoing must be severely punished.
And Aberdeen, Hearts, Dundee United and Kilmarnock fans have already urged their clubs to vote against a newco getting back in.

All the chickens coming home to roost.

Believable25 Unbelievable9

So the SPL now say Rangers have a prima facie case to answer over the illegal use of EBTs and double contracts - although I was under the impression that the investigation had been put on hold last week.

Anyway, the only positive I can take from this is it brings the termination of David Murray's knighthood that bit closer. How any chairman of Ibrox could behave so idiotically is utterly beyond me. Everybody knows that dual contracts are illegal. I'm guessing even the likes of the hugely incompetent Mr Ogilvie.

True Ibrox legends like Bill Struth, Willie Waddell and Jock Wallace must be spinning in their graves at the way this obnoxious man has shamed our great club. BB

Agree0 Disagree0

Enough is enough. Rangers should tell the SFA and the SPL to politely decline their sanctions and start again in League three. Strip us of historical titles, whatever... but with regards to further sanctions, not fair SFA.

Agree0 Disagree0

"All the chickens coming home to roost."
--

Fair enough, at least we still have our history!

Otherwise there would be nothing to strip us of!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hearts will vote for Rangers to get back in. So will Kilmarnock. Aberdeen, Hibs, Motherwell certain to say NO.

Agree0 Disagree0

The old rangers has its history not the new co! how hard is it to understand, your history is there but it cant be added to as the club is now dead. new co starts a fresh with no history i.e 0games 0 wins 0 draws 0 losses.......

Agree0 Disagree0

Hearts are owed money so may want something in return. Who knows what, though. Maybe football debts to be repaid by newco.

I think Rangers will be allowed in.

Agree0 Disagree0

"at least we still have our history"
The history is still there, it can't be taken away. There was once a team that won 54 league titles. But that history does not belong to newco. For a time that record will still stand until someone catches it. The only history "lost" will be the titles stripped for dual contracts.
Stef

Agree0 Disagree0

Oldcos history will always be there but it will end with the old company. They will strip oldco of titles as Newco has no history and has won nothing. Sad but true.

Agree0 Disagree0

The history is there and always will be, the team is still rangers, we are still rangers and we're still counting. just because our finances are passed through a company registered at companies house on a bit of paper means fcuck all.
i may be wrong but i very much doubt the company that was dissolved (rangers plc) was the original company who has always owned the team? surely it has been passed through several different holding companies throughout the years?

anyway, a team who shows up at Ibrox (or thereabouts) and plays in blue and calls themselves rangers - is rangers. That title comes with the history and prestige that went before them regardless of what "company" are currently controlling the club!

Agree0 Disagree0

Why is there so much talk about history are all dhims that infatuated about our success that they have to bang on about it being taken away every minute of the day.
The Rangers have applied to transfer the oldco share they have not applied for a new share meaning unbroken so history stands hence the SPL are now trying to apply sanction to the newco.

just a thought why does walter smith and co want to buy out green. would it not make more sense to join him and the new co. he has offered smith a top position. we are in this mess because david murray wanted the world but didnt have the money o do it on his own.i think green has the right idea. why would you want to exclude people who want to bring much needed investment to the club. with twice the investore they could give the new co as good a start as possible.
also think it would be a good ac

Believable20 Unbelievable28

I agree with above we need as much investment as possible; we need Walter, Mccoist and Green. Let’s go Div 3 as well then start new History of our great club.
Chase the money men and players who took EBT’s from the ‘oldco’ SPL don’t need us we don’t need the SPL but we will be back one day. We will be stronger for it and we will have paid our dues. JD

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it was a bit of a publicity stunt by WS to deflect some of the flack chucked in his direction regarding the mess that caused it all. If he really cared then he would get on board and do his best for the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cuz they probs want as big return as possible if Walter was doin the.best for the club he would join forces with green to ensure not one person owns the club

Agree0 Disagree0

It would never work in a million years, the huge personalities would clash and i thimk they both have different ideas of how the club should go forward.

Agree0 Disagree0

Green wants to sell the club through a shares issue, so does smith. The answer to your question simple MONEY.

Agree0 Disagree0

Walter wants to take a long term view and then in a few years hand over to true Rangers minded people to carry on and re-build the club to its former greatness.

Green and his mates only want to make a personal financial killing as quickly as possible and don't care who is left with their mess. They don't have any money to take the club forward. He only just managed to scrape up the 5.5 million with last minute intervention from ZEUS and his two mates Ahmad and Stockbridge.

These guys don't give a toss about Rangers or its history.

If Walter walks in light of yesterday's news, I wouldn't be at all surprised and Green will also walk but with a pile of personal debt.

It's odds on that he'll sell out to Walter for a small profit.

Get behind Walter and don't give Green a penny!

Agree0 Disagree0

I totally agree with you. To some people power is more important than saving the club by pulling together. We get enough thrown at us from our rivals without fighting amongst ourselves.

Agree0 Disagree0

Murry wanted the european cup and he could not buy it only the big tams win it

Agree0 Disagree0

Is that not the point to having several members on the board. Do what clubs like Barca do and appoint someone new every so often to bring in fresh ideas and stop the club going down the old road.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Walter was was that serious they wud not have put an imaginary bid at the very last second, totally agree publicity stunt, he's just as bad as the others! Green may have a million faults but he did put his money where his mouth is. Im sure this will get back to Walter so my question to you is: do u really care Walter? Do you? If so make the right decision for rangers! Not Walter ,ally or anyone else just Rangers! For the love of god pleeeese!

Anya.

Agree0 Disagree0

Walter would only be chairman of football board and still have to answer to company board (Green, Zeus etc..).
I dont think they trust the new owners.
Green & Co see Rangers as short term financial investment which can only really be gained by selling Ibrox, Murray Park & Albion car park and renting back to club.
Rangers need some TLC not asset strippers.
If Walter can get total control they can nurse Rangers back to full health then sell to fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

Green has no money left and is clearly a chnacer. Why "combine" althat would mean is putting your money into Green's pockets and letting him keep the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Because they have fundamentally different plans for the proceeds raised by the shares issue;

1. Green: Split the money between the investors and walk off into the sunset (I don't have an issue with, he has put in the work and taken the gamble)

2. Smith: Proceeds of the shares issue reinvested into the club (Should be the preferred choice of anyone with the interests of Rangers at heart)

Quite simple in my eyes unless I'm missing something fundamental.

Agree0 Disagree0

We need to get Green out asap. The only way we can hope to do this is to refuse to renew our season tickets.

Green will run out of money in 6 months. He doesn't have sufficient working capital to keep the club afloat without season ticket money. He's completely "winging" it at the moment.

Meantime, he'll sell off everything he can, including our best players. Like he did behind Nigel Spackman's back at Sheffield Utd.

Green is bad news.

Agree0 Disagree0

"Walter wants to take a long term view and then in a few years hand over to true Rangers minded people to carry on and re-build the club to its former greatness."

Walter isn't puting any money in, Walter isn't going to be involved in the club now or in the future. He's appeared at some press conferences on behalf of what's left of the Blue s**tes as they have no credibility left and needed a fresh face (now Kennedy and Murray gone to ground) to front yet another worthless approach that gets the Bear's hopes up!

RFC has been up for sale for what, six/seven years and no "Rangers minded people" have come in with an offer. Murray tried to raise funds via fans and raised only £1m of a £40m target previously, so bottom line, no one is prepared to pay/risk any more than their season ticket at Rangers never mind all the grandstanding going on. (even the RFF total was a farce).

"Rangers previous greatness" was built and reliant upon tax evasion (proved but suject to appeal) and double contracts (proved) for 10 years resulting.

Green has at least come in without history and has so far delivered exactly what he's said. So until that changes, we need to support the current owner and ignore the hangers on looking for a free directors seat at every home game.

Agree0 Disagree0

And you call yourself a Gers fan? Don't renew ticket, we don't need fans like you. The Club is bigger than any individual.

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason walter and his merry men didn't join the party sooner was that everyone knew this was the only outcome. If they thought a CVA could have been agreed they wold have done it. No Green has took the flac for liquidation they want the glory. Get the heads together and put up the cash to make Rangers a force once again, without any debt, thats the key point. Spend you own money!!

Agree0 Disagree0

This is now a totally different situation to the Sheff U one. Green has come into a club with a stadium to play in, but no league to play in, no competitive matches arranged and he can't sell off the best players as the club has no players.
I'm sure this was not the scenario he envisaged, but he still did what he said he would do when the CVA was rejected. What happens next is anyones guess.

If the SPL application on July 4th is rejected what is the time span and proceedure for admission to the SFL?

Believable8 Unbelievable6

The SFL have already said the Rangers application would not be automatically accepted and would have to go through a due dilligence against other clubs in the highland league.

SFL chairman dvid Longmuir has said absolutely no garuantees of entry will be given to Rangers and that they may even be rejected based on past issues with fudging monies and so forth.

Also, everyone has to bear in mind the SFA are still highly likely to suspend Rangers from the Scottish game for at least 1 season, meaning at the end of the suspension there will be no open places to apply for in the game.

FIFA have also stated rangers cannot transfer to another association and no permission would be given by FIFA upon application to do so.

Fans need to wake up to the real possibility that as the authorities have shifted all their responsibility away to the chairmen and essentially the fans (mob mentality), this could see Rangers completely disappear from football forever.

Agree0 Disagree0

If the SFA stick to the rules.3 yrs.

Agree0 Disagree0

& how does that go with season tickets - which have to be bought by 29th June?

bil72

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye great idea suspend us for 1 year and then when we return send us to division three.no sky money no sponsorship deals for spl no rangers fans at away games, which will result in many more clubs going to the wall the first of which will be hearts and the Scottisheague will end up a poorer version of the Irish league.

Agree0 Disagree0

No sky deal .... Wrong already confirmed Sky deal doesn't depend on Rangers , and if The Rangers do stay in the SPL , Hearts , Dundee Utd ,Aberdeen and many others will simply do the same as Rangers

Agree0 Disagree0

Sky yesterday said they wont walk away from SPL however they also added that they would have to renegotiate the terms for remainder of the contract giving the loss of 4 old firm matches a season they have also withdrawn they have also delayed the offer on the new contract. Hearts and Kilmarnock will be the first two teams to fold giving the state of their accounts.
