Thought id share this for the fellow bears, highlights from the 2008 season showing how the league and cup was won.
Some cracking goals from boyd, mendes, davis, miller and even a cheeky wee goal from davie wier.
What a difference in the quality of goals back then compared to now tho ..

Oh please bring back Chris Boid. Man for the big occasion

He's a fine footballer but no where NEAR physical enough for the EPL. He'd be marked out of the game here. Muzz

A would have boyd over jelly if it ment paying the crown any one agree. even if he is a bit podgy he is prob the best whyte knight could get!
Agree0

His record against the "lesser" teams was fantastic, although we did dominate in terms of possession and territorial advantage in those days, which is not quite the case these days. But, if he's going cheep, and cheep is all we can afford, I would definitely take a punt on him short term at least. sm

Rangers are hot favorites to sign Dundee Utd midfielder Allan.

Why ? Even someone on here even said there's no YouTube videos of him or nothing ? All I know is he's played 2 & a half games & wants more money ? So far all a see is a greedy player who's 20

The papers also said we were favourites for goodwillie and look what happened with that deal ?
Agree0

Rangers only have a chance of signing him if Celtic don't want him
Snudge
Agree0

Snudge ur dreaming pal, why would he go to a club that celebrate second place. I only posted what the paper said. Why does a player have to play first team football before being considered as a good signing. Look at Fabrigas. Never played for Barca first time around and the scouting network at Arsenal didn't seem to mind We must have a decent scouting network who have spotted this young guy!

Billy sharp has buy out clause 1.75 mill !

Surprise surprise, kris boyd unable to cut it in the championship and in turkey. he has to be one of the worst players i have ever witnessed in a rangers jersey and there's been some bad ones past and present. please dont come on and talk about his goals ratio in spl. he couldnt score in europe and hardly ever scored in big games. if rangers resign him and over edu a new contract then my team are an embarrassment!
Agree0
Disagree0
So your telling us that you never celebrated Boyds goals every week when he played. Its not all about the big games or Europe mate as if you pop in to Ibrox (which im sure you have not done in a while to be coming out with comments like that) its about beating StMirren, hearts and St Jonstone at home in which we have lost 6 points so far this season as we struggled to score!!
Agree0
Disagree0
You are one of these supporters who blinded by the obvious. at rangers and celtic you'll score goals against the likes of st mirren with the chances we create. the very fact we are even debating mr boyd just sums up the state of rangers and scottish football in general. a rank rotten footballer who couldnt keep a balloon up in a phone box!

He already has a coaching role

Agree0
Disagree0
Davy weir has been a wonderful servant to rangers someone calling him a leech tells me how critical a spirit they have
Agree0

As a Celtic fan I am astounded that any Rangers fan would call Davy Weir a leech . The big guy was a stalwart in the last few seasons helping you achieve 3 league titles .
CelticMatt
Agree0

I think davy weir has just about milked rangers stupid is it not time to let him go he's only going to hold us back? Mean wot has he really done for us except embarrass us for the last couple of seasons!
Agree0

Cant believe some of my fellow bears are taking the bait regarding the negative Weir posts. The guy saying he had embarrassed us the past few seasons is obviously a bitter timmy!
GCUK
Agree0

There are plenty players that will milk you dry but hes not one . Maybe its time to let him go but there are plenty of mercenaries out there who wont give you a tenth of what he has mate .
CelticMatt
Agree0

Having spoken to big davie on many occasions if the opportunity came up for a coaching role then he would bite ur hand off. however he feels he still has more to offer as a player and isnt ready to hang up his boots just yet.

He is milking the club and he would keep taking 1 year contracts till he was 50 if he could get away with it .away back to cheshire davie.

If rangers ever sign a 4m player again in the next 5years I would b amazed can't see whyte payin that for Rhodes
Agree0
Disagree0
What about cuelar and who is smith
Agree0
Disagree0
Why does everyone want to release Kerkar? The lad hasn't had a chance to prove himself. Smith tried very hard to sign him there must be something there.
Agree0
Disagree0
Enjoy the thought of this, but to be honest I can't see it happening. I have been really disappointed with David Healy, I thought he would have been a top scorer in the spl. Rangers 'tilI die
Agree0
Disagree0
Rankers paying £4million for Rhodes?? ! Is this the same Rankers who had Sone Aluko pay his own transfer fee to play for you.
Craig Whyte quote:
For every £5 Celtic spend
Sone Aluko will spend £10.
Agree0
Disagree0
If rangers sign kris boyd as a replacement for jelavic
I WILL KILL MYSELF
Agree0
Disagree0
RE: Sone Aluko and the constant digs from Timothy - Aberdeen wanted compensation that they might not have been entitled to in the first place due to him joining them as a first team player.
Why would we have paid them for him when the fee could have been disputed and we would have got him for free - (if the decision went Rangers way.) Sone paid the fee so that he could join a great club quickly without it dragging out. He had enough desire to take matters into his own hands - Keeping his old club happy and proving to his new club his commitment to the cause!
Its commendable in this day & age of footballers, PS don't hear of anyone forking out their own cash to win a deal with you's? Jealousy again
Agree0
Disagree0
Sorry mate be realistic this cant happen in our current state of affairs and SANTA aint real so no new players
Agree0
Disagree0
Don't see why it's so unrealistic...
By these fees we would be bringing in £16.4m and spending just £6.8m.
This is very possible, hope it happens!
Agree0

Wot alot of rubbish!like were going 2 sell about half our team, jealavic n davis might go if the offers are good but that would be it,as for leeds paying 150k 4 healy get real we would have 2 pay them that 2 take him
Agree0
Disagree0
Re sone aluko and our great club-it show how far our great club has fallen even mentioning aluko and rangers in the same statement, nothing against the boy but::::::::::::whyte will be picking the bones soon still no accounts signed yet ,NO AGM,and still the SFA await details why mr whyte was banned from directorship (the same question that he had NO memeory of last week in court)MR WHYTE you were banned for trading while insolvent-get our head out the sand bears before it too late

More like
Jelavic - Sunderland - £4m now 3 later
Davis - Aston Villa - £1.5m
Healy - Free
Fleck - Free
Broadfoot - £250k
Kerkar - Released

Edu - Blackburn - £1m

Have you been smoking the wacky backy with this one, no way will craig whyte stump up £4mill for rhodes, he didn't even stump up the cash for goodwillie or conway, and the list goes on, lets face facts here folks we can no longer payout the big fees and wages anymore
Agree0

Well done Craig Whyte for not stumping up for goodwillie or Conway!!! They've done well since they left eh???
Agree0

Guys i was told Kris Boyd is coming back to Scotland last week but not which club....I assume it would be Rangers as he met with representitives in Amsterdam. was not sure about this so never posted it but sky sports just announced he has terminated his contract at the turkish club!!

The Fifer

The guy is a legend and ill take any legend back at rangers! He will score 20 plus goals a season and when he does i would love to see the faces of people saying oh god no to Boyd!! WATP!!
Agree0
Disagree0
Boyd? Legend?
You lot are having a laugh!
I'm proud of being a bear! I believe strongly we should work with self-respect and priciples!
This boy thought he was a ticket! As far as I understand he didn't feel the need to take on any extra training as he was good enough already?
Totally wrong attitude. You pull on our jersey and you work yourself into the ground and fight for everything.
Any less is unacceptable! Boyd is unacceptable!
Bluegenius

Fantastic post Bluegenius. Some fans forget what type of player the CHAMPIONS should be signing and what it means to play for THE GERS.Men with integrity, principles and able to conduct themselves in the correct manner befitting our GREAT CLUB.
Agree0
Disagree0
Boyd is a legend if only because he has one of the highest all time goal records for Rangers
Agree0
Disagree0
Oh and before anyone starts spouting he will score 30 a seson etc! I am not disputing his ability to put the ball in the net. Yes he will score a load. However its about the calibre of the man as a person!
Ally was a true legend and scored for fun but the reason we love him was he tried all the time! He also stood up to be counted when the chips were down!
Didnt run off down south when he wasn't getting a game under Souness. Christ he was on the bench so often they nicknamed him "The Judge". He just smiled kept fighting and scoring and went on to become the best.
Boyd lacks class, lacks loyalty and most of all lacks the kahunas to be one of us!
Bluegenius!
Bluegenius
Agree0

Please please ally from the majority of rangers fans do not resign boyd . he is a fat lazy arrogant t**t with a very bad attitude.
Agree0
Disagree0
Please let it be true he signing back for rankers. Lazy, stupid with a poor attitude and his record against Celtic is woeful.
Agree0
Disagree0
If he does come back to us, will the fans who are slagging him now over principles etc hand in their season tickets?,,,,,...............or, will they get behind the team if he does play for us again? Principles? lol in football?
Agree0
Disagree0
So all you lot going on about principles, would you stay in your job if got offered double to do the same? exactly, money talks so get over it. the guy left and has now realised the grass is not greener on the other side and would come back on a fraction of the wages we offered him 18months ago! but NOT as a replacement for Jela
Agree0
Disagree0
A get what bluegenius is saying but at the end of the day boyd will score a sh1t load in this league. For the 1's slagging him, hes a free transfer! Tell me a better finisher than boyd who we will get for nothing :L ? And to the tic fan - he beat your hero larssons record sunshine ;)
Agree0
Disagree0
Only up here to use the clubs training facilities while visiting family etc. he is not signing. wage demands at too much. he has had no game time and has hardly scored a goal. rangers can do better without him hoovering up what available money there is.
Agree0
Disagree0
No-one has mentioned the fact that his spells at boro and in turkey have both gone sour and that this has surely changed his attitude to what he had at rangers, we will have a proven goalscorer in this league on a free on less money than before with a better attitude. Who cares about the past if he scores 15-20 in the second half of the season will u lot being moaning about his class as a man or the fact his goals won us 4 in a row. Answers on a postcard please!
Agree0
Disagree0
Please god nooooo!!
useless lazy lump
Agree0
Disagree0
Confused by all this lazy talk. don't see jela chasing down defenders or constantly running around. that make hime useless and lazy?
Agree0
Disagree0
Whats wrong with having principles in football?
Im not saying we should not sign him back because he left for more cash! That would be stupid. It was his attitude whilst he was here is my issue!
Would I leave my job for double money? Of course!
Do I work my ass off where I am out of principle and passion for what I do? Yes!
All I ask of any player is that they do everything they can whilst representing my team.
Will i be giving up my spot at Ibrox - no! If we signed him, would I support him? - Yes because I will ALWAYS do my bit! I hated the fact that we signed a wee pleb like Diouf but I still supported him every time he walked on the park.
Bluegenius!
Agree0
Disagree0
If anyone has bothered trying to see him recently he has lost a lot of weight and put on muscle and he seems much fitter, I'd have him back no bother!
EKger
Agree0
Disagree0
Bluegenius i respect your posts mate but with all due respect, principles dont win you titles... Goals do! Everyone makes mistakes in life which Boyd has no doubt done but if he is learning then surely we can accept him back. We have dropped 6 points at home this season with 3 draws and the reason is that we dont score enough goals. Boyd is the answer as he knows what its all about in this country, league and our great club plus the full coaching staff know exactly what they are getting for free!!
Agree0
Disagree0
I also respect your post and opinion. However I disagree that priciples dont win you titles. I firmly believe that when Walter returned it was his principles of teamwork, a strong work ethic and fighting for the cause that have handed us our past three titles.
If Boyd were to acknowledge he had a bad attitude at the time and apologised with a promise to work harder etc then yes I would be willing to hail his return. However it is only his supporters on here who have acknowledged his "mistakes".
Bluegenius.
Agree0
Disagree0
No1 here is hailing his return bluegenius. all we are saying is that with the resources available at present who else has a better goalscoring record and would fit as easily into the team? its a good bit of business but hardly the return of the prodigal son

Kris Boyd is the worst player to ever pull on a Rangers shirt, please please do not re sign him.
Agree0

Worst player?? The worst player is playing right back on 25 grand a week. Boyd scored for fun and although he may not fit our current team. I would love somebody with his goal scoring record at Ibrox.
Agree0
Disagree0
Boyd would be a great player to have on the bench and we need somebody to score more goals we arent scoring to many just now give him a deal til the end of the season
Agree0
Disagree0
Take him he's an absolute legend!
Agree0
Disagree0
I dont want him back. but unfortunately, what i can see happening, is that we sell jelavic for less than his worth on the basis that we can get a free kris boyd. i hope this doesnt happen!
Agree0
Disagree0
I cant understand how picky we are being. We have no money to spend. The boyd thing, Rangers just need to free up wages. Worst player ever? What is a striker supposed to do? set up the midfield and defenders for goals or score goals himself? Yes he only does one thing but that is the one thing he is on the park to do. I would be happy to see him back. We dont have a super sub anymore since we let novo go. Boyd would do well.
Agree0
Disagree0
...Sign Boydie and play him and Jelavic up front and with Wylde on one wing and Aluko on the other supplying the crosses we,d be a potent force up front again....4 in a row here we go..

Spl allowing standing at games. I hope rangers take this up cheap tickets plus you would end up with a good 70000 at old firm games magic
Gazza72
Believable18
Unbelievable16
Would 70,000 get in or would they restrict he number of people to the capacity we have got now?
Agree0
Disagree0
Theres no way we would get that many fans as they are olnly going to trial it and am sure if anything it would be a specific section that ye wid have for standing ie where the away fans sit or inbtween the coapland and the govan corner is where we could have it but just a guess but a dont think we would get anywhere near the 70000 yer hoping for
Agree0
Disagree0
1 seat = 1 standing so no change to capacity .
Agree0
Disagree0
I'm pretty sure that German sides have a section for standing in their stadiums. It can only be about 2000, or 3000 at the most, so the front section east enclosure would be my choice. 4 in a row

Its only certain areas of the stadiums that could stand... not the whole stadium!

Met with an ex director today, can't give name. He told me that we are certs to lose the tax case and that we will go into administration. The reason that we will lose is because dm sent a letter to those players in the EBT that this was not a loan and the amounts do not have to be repaid. This apparently breaks all the rules of the scheme. Mr W will put us into admin and as the only secure creditor he gets his money back. He thinks the administrator will sell the best players as they are assets and he is duty bound to do so. There is also a suggestion that murray park will be sold. The creditors will get 20p in the pound and Mr W will buy back for about £5m. A consortium at £10m is being lined up for a club with no debt and only young players left. Apparently a transfer fund of £25m will be available with another £10m per year. This will all happen by march and there will be a 10 or 12 point deduction. Two of the ex directors will be involved.
Believable17

Why would whyte buy back he will walk with the loot remember it cost him £18m but the debt to him now stand at over £30 not a bad return for 6 months, ive been told whyte not paid a penny to the tax,NI, and vat since he stepped in the door so expect another bill from hmrc

Any point deductions only come into effect at the start of next season Timmy.

Nobody can say anything until it goes to court!! and we see it black and white from the court! i will believe it when that happens!!

Points deduction effective as soon as ya go into admin and before ya go bust hunny
Agree0
Disagree0
Google rfc tax case! whyte not paid anything to keep books looking good.all smoke n mirrors.some big bills need paid in new year hence admin
Agree0
Disagree0
Of course whyte hasnt paid a bill for income tax and national insurance? Organisations dont pay it step by step they pay it at the end of the tax year.
Agree0
Disagree0
Problem I have with this is that if we go admin then is there not a transfer embargo on a club for a season??
this would leav us in the mire for few years........we are in a mess and need to wait for tax case before we all speculate.
Agree0
Disagree0
I really wish people would realise the reason we dont know what's happenin with this court case is really quite simple. It's because there's been no decision made so people who are claiming to know what's happenin r stirring up alot a nonsense n people are biting. The simple facts of the matter are if the worst thing does happen then we will stick by our club n get the club back to where it belongs which is top of the pile in Scotland but at the end of the day we will get back to the top no matter what happens
