The Hobbs deal has been put on the back burner as Lescott looks to be on his way.
He's been told he can leave for free and is well known to Davie Weir .

Wages may be a stumbling block but he wants to win a few medals which he will with us.

15 Aug 2016 23:16:37
Saw he was dropped to the reserve team at villa so could well happen.

16 Aug 2016 11:01:24
Lescott is absolutely gash! The slowest defender in history with a penchant for horrendus mistakes! Do not want him anywhere near us.

16 Aug 2016 12:00:32
Guys - watch ANY and I mean ANY Aston villa game from last year and you will see that Lescott has lost 5 yards in speed and positional sense is NIL. He's also hopeless in the air.

But free and over 30 suits us I suppose.

16 Aug 2016 12:06:26
i hope he isn't coming I would rather sum1 less sh*t.

16 Aug 2016 13:27:53
Being reported by the S*n now as I told you last night .

Anyone who thinks he wouldn't be a massive upgrade on what we already have is kidding themselves on .

16 Aug 2016 14:05:11
he's a far superior player to Hill and kiernan and 10x the player senderos ever has been.

16 Aug 2016 14:33:50
I watched him at Everton and was pleased to see him leave but I would certainly prefer him to Hill and he is as good as Kiernan and Wilson. I would still prefer Senders, if fit but perhaps we could sign them both and then let Hill concentrate 100% on coaching!

16 Aug 2016 14:38:11
Walk into our side when fully fit but should be offering these type of guys a Base wage that only increases if they make the grade! Ie in the pool every week. to many players going to clubs getting top dollar for sitting in the stand.

16 Aug 2016 15:30:59
lescott was a good player yes he is better than hill but he isn't good enough for what we want to achieve as a club which is win the title!
no pace and blunders as much as effe ambrose.

bring back bougy and bartley!

and to all those who think we shouldn't look back at old players I don't care I know their quality and one of them would have a good sell on value if he does well.

they would be the perfect answer for me.

16 Aug 2016 15:50:24
If bougherra deal was going to happen it would have ages ago (when he issued his come and get me plea via the papers) .

I liked Bartley during his loan spell but his career has stagnated since.

Senderos has been rank rotten for nearly 10 years. Yes he's played for some good clubs but he flopped at every one of them. His entire career is based on his early promise at arsenal.

Take point that lescott lost his way at villa but prior to that he was decent at man city (although not first choice) and truly outstanding for Everton. If we could get him confident and fit he could be the answer to our defensive problems. IF we can get him fit and confident.

16 Aug 2016 15:51:21
bartleys at leeds on a season long loan.

16 Aug 2016 19:29:51
Surprised there isn't a decent loan option for center back must be a better option than a 30 odd year old stop gap I know a loan is a stop gap but they sometimes lead to permanent deals.

16 Aug 2016 20:35:34
Was Davie Weir a stop gap? This forum would've probably went into meltdown the time we signed Davie Weir. Look at how that turned out. Not too shabby.

16 Aug 2016 22:05:49
Dont think bartley done much tbh when he was on loan with us. bougy and weir was the cb partnership at the time and bartley got the odd game in midfield.2 which came against that mob which we got beat and he was only interested in trying to noise up broon the dummy.

17 Aug 2016 07:39:31
David weir was a true professional and a proven leader so no i wouldn't say he was a stop gap other than being towards end of his career we still had great few years service, he was brought into steady the ship! Not so sure lesscott or senderos have the same qualities! A hungry young cb desperate to showcase his abilities is what I'd b after now that we've used what I'd imagine is our kitty to sign garner.

17 Aug 2016 15:07:21
Bartley was the Zelalem of his time. came here in a big fanfare from Arsenal but was actually dross for us. Not sure the kind of memory some guys have on here. As i've said many times, if our midfield and forwards would actually convert a better amount of the chances we create, we wouldn't need to bother so much with the odd defensive lapse. which all teams have. Our goals to chances ratio is shocking. This hurts us more than anything. Garner may be the man to sort this out.

17 Aug 2016 20:25:07
If it wasn't for Lescott we may have never signed Davie Weir. Now it could be the other way around. The beauty of football.

15 Aug 2016 18:42:53
Garner agrees to join. Medical will be completed Tuesday!

15 Aug 2016 20:50:01
hopefully he signs.

15 Aug 2016 21:16:17
Any more word on the cb from forest jack hobbs? Senderos no mug and we certainly need a cb who can clear his lines. could do wi a bit of pace too. in warbs we trust.

15 Aug 2016 21:21:37
Don't know how some fans can slate the lad before having seen him play. Watched some of his clips on YouTube the boy knows where the goal is that's for sure. For some reason reminds me in some respects to Gary Hooper and look how he turned out for that lot. Looking forward to seeing Garner do the business in the good half.

16 Aug 2016 06:22:36
I can't see us signing another left footed cb tbh.

15 Aug 2016 17:20:38
Talksport reporting we have had a bid of 1.8mil accepted for Garner.

15 Aug 2016 17:54:00
Tav to be sold to turkey to balance the bookstore.

15 Aug 2016 18:13:09
Tav's going nowhere.

15 Aug 2016 18:21:40
1.8million what is that all about 6 goals last season sorry but naw.

15 Aug 2016 18:32:02
Scored more than Grigg and Bradshaw 2014/ 15!

15 Aug 2016 18:38:08
Grigg and bradshaw are in in there early 20s.

15 Aug 2016 19:04:11
Watch his goal scored video then make your
minds up, I can assure you the boy can play .

15 Aug 2016 19:16:08
It's 900k up front but will go up to 1.8 if all the add ons are completed. I. e games played, goals scored and champions league.

15 Aug 2016 20:37:19
Benny0812,from what I've heard the transfer fee we're paying PNE for joe garner is £1.5million minimum to be paid in two installments ie.750k this year and 750k next year, then with add ons for appearances etc the fee could rise to £1.7million in total which would be another 200k.

15 Aug 2016 20:50:44
Warb the 15th it's just what I have read. I can't see us paying anywhere near the 1.8mill that's been spoke about.

15 Aug 2016 21:03:26
U know what, i'm happy with this. A bit more experienced, a good age at 28. Finally paying realistic money doesn't look so embarrassin anymore (although its still peanuts) . Balancing out the average age. Good move i rekon.

15 Aug 2016 21:37:51
It's certainly not embarrassing paying out money we can afford and balancing the books.
Have you not been there when we went in to liquidation 😐 now that was embarrassing, getting slaughtered by other fans, no being able to sleep, worrying if we will survive.
Let's take out time and get it right.

15 Aug 2016 22:31:57
All we need now bears is a cracking cb and we're good to go 🔴⚪️🔵😘.

15 Aug 2016 22:40:02
Eezyeez paying realistic money? How do you think we managed to sign the players we signed? Do you not think we get these players without signing on fees and more importantly agent fees? I for one think we have spent quite a fair penny getting what we have Barton and Kranc being the more expensive but I do believe the bargain of the summer has got to be the lad Rossiter as this boy just oozes class and at the age of 21 if we keep him for two seasons I think we'll make a few bob on the boy! Now can we all stop the doom and gloom of " we haven't spent a dime yet " as its getting old, we probably can afford a £3mill player but it'll put us back to where we were a few seasons back ( struggling to put the lights on ) so let's just see where we are at the end of the transfer window and see what business has been done and support our beloved club no matter what!

15 Aug 2016 23:54:16
blackwood i'm not thick mate. I'm just saying its good we are in a position that we can pay 1.8mil that's all. Difference from previous seasons looking at just free players etc. No negativity in my previous comment i clearly meant we are on the up.

16 Aug 2016 08:50:01
Blackwood, just a correction Jordon Rossiter is only 19 - what a player if we can keep him for a few years, we can only wish he gets the rangers bug and wants to stay for life haha.

16 Aug 2016 09:13:59
grigg and Bradshaw were playing a league below garner.

16 Aug 2016 12:13:37
ill take garner but I hope he can convert more than last year.

15 Aug 2016 16:58:09
Jim White has just posted on Twitter.

Defender Philippe Senderos not considered key #Rangers target at this moment.

15 Aug 2016 17:32:22
MW has told our website he is training for the week and we'll see where that leads.

15 Aug 2016 17:39:44
What's his point?

15 Aug 2016 18:38:21
Whats the point? what's the point in having a look at a defender with a proven history, whilst incurring no cost to the club and in order to establish if he could provide something we don't have at present ie like stability and leadership at the back. Seems a no brainer to me RFCinfinity.

15 Aug 2016 20:38:09
Bigjack u donut, he said what's jim whites point. not what's the point lol.

15 Aug 2016 20:42:05
I said "his point" not "the point"! Big difference. I don't understand the tweet! Learn to read before jumping on my comments in future!

16 Aug 2016 13:03:43
Ooohhh!

15 Aug 2016 11:53:30
Does anyone know who the big ginger hair guy training with us just now is? He was wearing he number 78 training top in the picture i seen, training before the dundee game.

15 Aug 2016 11:59:40
David Bates - he's a 19yo CD on loan until January from Raith. Was motm when we beat them 1-0 last term. Apparently will mostly feature for U20 side but I guess if he shows up well he'll get a permanent deal and be a first team player!

15 Aug 2016 12:00:55
David Bates CB on loan from Raith he's made the bench the last 2 games .

15 Aug 2016 12:10:25
Cheers guys.

15 Aug 2016 12:34:28
Looking forward to seeing the boy get a game, must enhance and improve the current pair. The boy looks a big unit.

15 Aug 2016 12:43:29
Kiernans a big unit aswell. doesn't do him any good lol.

15 Aug 2016 13:04:17
Yes but as RFCinfinity said, the boy was motm against us last season. He is big and he can play.

16 Aug 2016 09:51:23
If Senderos is fit then he would be a perfect addition. He is not fast, (which is a problem right now), but he can tackle and he is as hard as nails. Our current pairing are scared to tackle and can't head the ball. Senderos would be perfect although which of Kiernan or Wilson you would play alongside him is the issue. Perhaps the young lad from Raith Rovers is the better option!

15 Aug 2016 11:38:46
Rangers submit offer for joe garner preston manager saying he's going to speak to player to see what he wants to do.

15 Aug 2016 11:54:44
6 goals in 43 matches last season. Doesn't sound like the answer.

Not impressed by this and flop senderos.

15 Aug 2016 12:04:12
Example. the thumb couldn't cut it at Wolves now scores for fun for them. #inwarbswetrust.

15 Aug 2016 12:05:33
Agreed mr nice, If championship/ top league one striker is our price range then there's definitely a better option out there imo but at the end of the day all back whoever the magic hat brings in

In Warbs We Trust!

15 Aug 2016 12:11:16
Watched garner as I stay in Preston . when not watching rangers I watch them. his strike partner was injured most of last season who I think he missed. he scored 25 goals year before. he's a bit like Naismith think he would do well if we sign him . gets stuck in never gives up.

15 Aug 2016 12:23:47
Did Andy little tell u he is like Naismith or did u come up with the comparison yourself? Not trying to be wide, just a coincidence.

15 Aug 2016 12:40:50
Mr Nice:

Andy Halliday - avg 3 goals per season since 2010
Scored 10 in 48 for us last season

Martyn Waghorn - avg 4 goals per season since 2010
Scored 28 in 36 for us last season

James Taverner - has scored 5 goals since 2010
Scored 15 in 50 for us last season

Compare:
Joe Garner - avg 12 goals per season since 2010 and 25+ goals in 13/ 14 and 14/ 15 seasons. If you believe he is no the answer then you are indefinitely looking for a multi millions pound striker which is out of our reach. He would be more than capable.

15 Aug 2016 12:40:54
I like how people are only focusing on last seasons performance for him. not the 27 goals the season before or the 24 the season before that.

15 Aug 2016 12:46:42
Nobody tells me what to say pal . never knew he voiced an opinion, stayed in Preston 28 years my lad plays for under 13,s . gave an opinion as this is a rumour site if he wasn't good enough I'd say . i think he is.

15 Aug 2016 12:56:06
Can we not let the guy sign and get out on the pitch before we slate him. at least wait til he's played a few games before we write him off. i can still remember striker called Ally something getting told to "get tae f@£k@" and i think he went on to score a few goals.

15 Aug 2016 13:05:44
Warbs always mentions the point about adding value on/ off the pitch - he's obviously seen something in Joe Garner that he feels merits a potential £1 million outlay.

Apart fae Gostomski it must be agreed that in terms of transfers, Warbs, DW and McParland haven't done too bad.

15 Aug 2016 15:02:36
Garner will score goals, OK so he didn't score loads last season but the previous 2 season he scored shed loads, he also scores an array of different types of goals, will b a good signing.

U will never please the doom and gloom merchants tho.

15 Aug 2016 17:12:33
My word. Watch Garner play before making judgements. There's this handy thing called YouTube, you might have heard of it. Watch some Garner videos. The boy oozes talent and class. Get him in a Rangers jersey asap please.

15 Aug 2016 17:16:19
Looking at the video posted on DR the guy has a head for goal and boy could we be doing with someone we could flight the ball into instead of constantly trying to thread it through the eye of a needle. Something different and needed.

15 Aug 2016 17:35:55
Bilbo what is this YouTube you speak of? The amount of valuable information on this site continues to leave me in a state of shock and awe. Any player can look good in a highlights reel.

Teddy- I can see your point but many rangers fans are saying the three player's you mention aren't good enough (not me by my he way) . What I would say is these player's are younger and have more time to develop, whereas garner is approaching 29 and is what he is. I don't debate he done well in league 1 but he hasn't performed well at a higher level throughout his career.

At end of day our problem isn't the amount of money rather the extremely narrow talent pool we are limiting ourselves to.
We should have been concentrating on foreign markets and the lower leagues of Italy, Spain and Germany- where transfer fees are far more realistic. Instead we are looking for bargains in a market we can't afford.

16 Aug 2016 10:15:56
Mr Nice, there are a few videos. Why don't you have a look. There's a little box at the top of the site that says 'Search'. Try and stick his name in there and see what happens. These are no so much "highlights" videos, they're videos of Garner banging them in left right and centre. One includes the best goal I've ever seen. The boy the score and wants to play for Rangers. He had me at Hello Hello.

P. S You're Welcome.

15 Aug 2016 10:25:16
Philippe Senderos training at Auchenhowie today.

15 Aug 2016 10:53:18
Could be a decent signing if he stays injury free. Although how long will it take to get him match fit? By that time Crooks will prob be pushing to play aswell.

15 Aug 2016 10:59:20
I wouldn't see it being to long. he is currently not injured. he was involved in the squad for Grasshopers against Basel 3 months ago, so not as bad as Niko?

15 Aug 2016 11:12:38
He's far better and more experienced at a top level than most if not all the players we could get for around a million from either a mid/ bottom of the table Championship team or a team in the first division.

That on its own should make him decent enough for this league, if he stays fit. Plus he's only 31. Surprising given how long he's been in the game.

15 Aug 2016 11:20:22
Would be a decent signing in my opinion had a great career at some top clubs kinda lost his way a bit but what better manager to get something out of him i'm sure he could do a job in SPFL.

15 Aug 2016 11:32:19
Surely this is got to be a good thing? English premier league player. Ex arsenal. Bit like toure?

15 Aug 2016 11:32:55
Amazing seeing as he doesn't seem to have aged since I first saw him play for Arsenal! Would be a great signing if he can prove his worth. I remember him having a bit of a problem with Barton though? might be wrong.

15 Aug 2016 11:40:06
Anyone who thinks this guy is a good signing hasn't watched him play very much.

His entire career was been based on the promise he showed early in his career. He has flopped at every club since.

One thing this proves is there is no money.

15 Aug 2016 11:43:28
I wouldn't be too disappointed with Senderos if he signed. Maybe not the quickest, but for the size of him, surely he is expected to win everything in the air defensively. He would be a threat at corners in attack too.

15 Aug 2016 12:26:39
Fed up with this no money brigade.

Is he going to play for free? No.
Will there be a singing on fee? Probably.

Just because we aren't paying 1 million for a player etc doesn't mean there's no value. This guy next to Wilson could be the key. Most players it's about attitude and man management, our manager seems to get the best out of players who have lost their way.

I'd assume Joe Garner would cost close to £900k-£1m.

Is that not good enough for you?

15 Aug 2016 13:52:35
There may well have been a transfer budget at the beginning of the season to spend on players, however if you spread the money out across the season instead, this will enable wages to be increased and attract a better calibre of player such as the likes of Barton and Kranjcar.

15 Aug 2016 14:16:30
I don't think he is the player we need, in my opinion I would rather toure over senderos any day of the week, think warburton could've done better and signed a better centre half, hope he doesn't sign.

15 Aug 2016 16:41:01
Senderos is absolutely brutal!

15 Aug 2016 17:17:12
Mr Nice, you usually speak a bit of sense on this but what's happening today? You on the bevvy? senderos was part of Arsenal's 'invincibles'. He had a wealth of experience and is only 31. Got socks older than that. let's not right him off just yet.

And regarding Garner, maybe you should watch him before passing judgement.

15 Aug 2016 17:42:52
Bilbo not had a drop today.

But you seem to have missed my point- senderos has been living off his early promise at arsenal his entire career. At no point has he been close to that level of performance- he was honking at Milan, honking at fulham and even worse at villa. From reports he was worse still at his last club.

Remember Warburton himself rubbished reports of us signing him around a month ago. What's changed? We have got desperate.

16 Aug 2016 10:18:15
Ageism much? How does Dado Prso fit into your analysis?

16 Aug 2016 10:19:47
Also MW is very coy and if he truly wanted to sign him, he would've put the media hounds off the scent as not to highlight an interest and attract other clubs. I. e putting his weekly wages up.

15 Aug 2016 10:18:10
Rangers have lodged an undisclosed bid for preston striker joe garner!
