Steve Davis hints he’ll be staying with Rangers next season if asked, is there opinions on this?

Ulsterman, stevie davis is now beginning to get his match fitness level and thus he's now performing a lot better for us. I've always been a massive fan of davis and i most definitely would offer him a 1 year deal with a further 1 year option.
He'll be terrific to have around our squad, into the bargain.

Definitely worth signing for a season as long as the weekly wage isn’t too large. I can’t see him playing week in and out however, he’ll be a great option to have and a great professional to have about the squad.

Said all along that Davis would come good, so many in here quick to judge a player when he comes in, every player who comes in needs to earn their place, and Davis is starting to do that now.

I think when tav leaves in the summer it will be a straight shootout between Davis and greegsy who will be captain. Personally greegsy would be class as captain but Davis edges it for me as he has been Northern Ireland captain for years.

NO, NO, NO.

Ulsterman - Davis is a class act when fit. You might know better than most, but did he not have an apparently great game for NI. He is a class above above Arfield and head and shoulders above broon.

Of the players in our first team, Morelos, Davis, Arfield, McGregor and Kent are the ones that I would like to see remain, IMO there are if's and but's for the rest, and some injured and loan that I want back, and hopefully some others stepping up from the u21's.

I honestly think that SG has the making of a very good side - need's a bit of hard work and a smidgin of good luck and we will be on our way.

NNC - I can’t ever remember Steve Davis having a bad game for NI, other NI posters on this site may have a different story, I’m probably bias but I still think the guy is a class act, I met him in a Shopping centre and he can take a banter, just a nice guy and Rangers daft, I was calling him tiny and he just laughed out loud. You seem to have a good grasp of Scottish football as most of you guys on this site do, so if you say he can cut it in your league that’s good enough for me.

Bad move signing an over the hill player with no sell on value.

19 Apr 2019 17:47:22
Sell on value doesn't HELP win league titles and cups, Arthur D!
No disrespect intended mate!

Some posters on here really do not have a grasp of what we are about - Steve Davis is back at Ibrox not to enhance his reputation and seek a big pay in the EPL - he has done that and shone like a beacon. Steve Davis is here to help his beloved Glasgow Rangers. Steve Davis is at his last club, and if EVERY PLAYER next year puts in the effort that I know and expect he will put in then I will be a happy chappy.

Steve Davis will be a big player for Gers next season, he didn't have much game time before coming home but you can see the difference in the last couple of games, he would be my captain next season, I hope we sell Morelos for a good price, he's let us down to many times with all the red cards. We need a clear out& get some class in, I think rossiter has shaken of his injury hoodoo &can be an important part of our squad next season.

Supercooper

Sorry but have to disagree about that. Getting a young player improving him then selling him for a profit allows the manager to reinvest in the squad which could lead to better quality players thus to winning titles. Davis is done and is not the answer going forward.

ArthurD
If he is done why is he playing so well for his national team? Against a better opposition that’s in the Scottish league.

19 Apr 2019 21:46:24
Arthur - that is two posts you've made about Steve Davis and imo both are totally wrong and way off the mark - next two seasons are not about making money.

19 Apr 2019 21:54:50
If Davis stays, then we must play a 442. To many wingers playing.

19 Apr 2019 22:14:53
I have to disagree with yourself Arthur D. There's two ways to skin a cat and i do understand what you're saying, but where steven davis is concerned, i think you're wrong pal,
simple as that.

Davis is far from done. If Gerrard had waited a few games before chucking him in, I think we'd all be singing his praises right now and possibly still be in the hunt for the title. He still has a lot to offer (our most naturally talented midfielder? ) , but the problem is how and when to play him. It's a difficult balance - both young and older players need game time in order to thrive.

At the moment I'd give Gerrard 7/ 10 given that he's a young manager who inherited a bit of a CF. Let's get behind him so he can finish the season strongly and push on with (hopefully) some good signings in the summer.

First time for a while but I disagree with Arthur as I think Davis has something to offer and no transfer fee. think he's shown in last couple of games he can play a big part.
