If true, why would Souttar not want to sign for Rangers? is he a Celtic minded player?

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Apr 2019 15:11:15
No idea mate but I think its more Hearts not wanting to lose him.

18 Apr 2019 15:15:02
He attended “PUBLIC” schools. That’s means nothing I know. Levein is an absolute clown thou so I would pay NO attention to what he says. He certainly doesn’t speak for John Souttar.

18 Apr 2019 16:42:29
I don’t think we should care if he’s ‘Celtic Minded’, what does that actually mean anyway? If he’s good enough and wants to sign for us then that’s good enough for me.

18 Apr 2019 16:46:10
Maybe he doesn’t speak for Souttar, but that was a statement and a half and he is basically telling you where the players heart is? And it’s certainly not with us🇬🇧.

When I say Celtic minded, would Leigh Griffiths, Ever sign for Rangers? or would we ever want him, he’s Celtic minded, would Ally McCoist have ever signed for Celtic? doubt it as he’s Rangers minded, so you don’t agree, that’s ok, in the long run it’s two different options.

18 Apr 2019 18:21:27
If rangers would of wanted Leigh Griffiths before he signed for Celtic he would of signed for us! Being Celtic are rangers minded means nothing you only have to look at Neil McCann, kenny dalglish, Danny mcgrain and davie provan and even Scott brown who all supported one side of the old firm but played for the other!

18 Apr 2019 19:13:57
Ulsterman don't want piss on your post but Scott Brown was Rangers minded.

18 Apr 2019 20:27:57
Yeah this mentality of Rangers and Celtic minded is hopefully a thing of the past, we just need people who want to play for Rangers, simple as that. Yeah Griffiths would have signed for Rangers when he was at Livi and Dundee, regardless of all the nonsense relating to McGinn, he would have signed and I would have cheered every goal he scored.

18 Apr 2019 21:01:22
NNC - piss on it if you want, I don’t take these things seriously, it’s just a debate and a bit of fun. I disagree with a few posts, I don’t think Leigh Griffiths would ever have signed for Rangers, just like John Collins when Souness tried to sign him, just opinions lads not bigotry or malice, if you knew me you’d know that.

18 Apr 2019 23:03:16
Yeah sorry Ulsterman I was trying to imply you were, I think the saying has been lost in translation. We’ll never know about Griffiths or Collins but I guess we can agree that we only want people who want to play for Rangers!

Hopefully 3 or 4 good players and we’ll be back where we belong.

Guys what a load of tosh, it’s 2019, we are a modern football club and institution (as are Celtic) and we sign the best players we can. I know for a fact Scott Brown would have signed for us if we had approached him first with an acceptable offer. Modern players are family, career and money minded, pretty much like the rest of society.

19 Apr 2019 09:04:21
Bankie -You’re right up to a point, but not every player would play for a certain team, I’ve read of certain players saying they would never sign for “say” Man U, our manager was one, , but your right as is most of the posts above, most players just play for the best contract and glory . Personally if I had’ve been a player I would never ever have signed for Celtic, I could never have been happy with the fans chanting certain things or letters, but that’s not the point you’re making, that’s another question.

Yeah, three to four quality players and we can look to a good next season, the defence still worries me and a creative midfielder, hopefully Davis will come the fore, Jones will be good but he can have lazy games, Stevie G will work that out of him.

19 Apr 2019 11:22:13
Bankie, we did approach scott brown first, i can assure you pal. His pals from the hill of beath used to sit across the isle from me in the copland road stand. The deal was all agreed between martin bain and rod petrie. They shook hands on £3.9million for scott brown. However Celtic eventually offered £4.4million for him and petrie went back on his agreement with bain and rangers eventually told hibs they were not upping their already agreed offer of £3.9million.

19 Apr 2019 14:27:55
Supercoop, believe what you said is correct, he chose them not because he was “Celtic Minded” but only because he and Petrie accepted stronger financial offer.

Ulsterman, I would like to agree with you but believe most young players would select the best offer. I suspect even SG would have chosen Man U or Everton if they had offered a better contract offer than Liverpool. I can still remember when Alfie Conn, a “bluenose” signed for Celtic and more recently sure we can all remember Mo Johnston.

Well the debate was interesting.
