It would interest me greatly approximate cost of teams to renew pitches to grass. If approximate cost was known and could be levied against player injuries it might be point to take to Scottish Office to lobby against. These are professional football teams for Chrissake.

The cost of laying turf isn't great, it's the revenue these teams make from plastic pitches that's the issue. They are used by all sorts of teams, clubs and for general training facilities and bring in cash to help keep teams afloat. Like it or lump it (and I hate them, having both played and coached on them) they are probably here to stay.

What we should be insisting on is that the SFA should help clubs to lay the best quality material available and renew it every couple of seasons. The one at Hamilton is disgraceful, with pieces of rubber flying up everywhere, a heavy and dangerous surface that really has no place in senior football.

I know there are some matches that are not a great watch on grass, but i don't think I've seen a decent game on artificial, tbh. Surely, apart from injury risks, the fact that the matches are nowhere near entertaining never mind being a spectacle, should also be of concern to football authorities?
