Halliday is the new bert konterman. Not a huge talent, might not play every week, don't necessarily want him to play every week but gives his all and might end up a wee fans favourite.

Halliday couldn't lace kontermans boots. Konterman was a great player for us and we could use someone like him now.

I don't understand the comparison with Halliday and Konterman, please explain. I do remember Kontermans winning screamer against Celtic though.

I don't understand how you can't understand the comparison. Konterman gave his all when in midfield or defence, was a much better player than Halliday but was not a top rangers player from that era or the preceding years. Ended up a bit of a cult hero because of said goal. Kinda similar to Hallidays situation.

Remember Konterman getting a lot of stick saying he wasn’t good enough he was a good player but nothing special remember that goal against Celtic well but can’t understand above statement.

Thanks for clearing up the similarities. Konterman will be remembered for that wonder goal, Haliday will be remembered for? I certainly don't have anything against Halliday but there is simply no comparison .

I for one am amazed in the difference in Halliday's play. He has always given his all but seemed not good enough, now under Gerrard he seems completely rejuvinated, played some lovely football today. Just shows how much confidence can change a player.

Judging by his holiday photos Andy Halliday is having the last laugh on lots people, well played yesterday although he is backup this season!

Halliday isn’t good enough if we are ever to get back challenging Celtic he isn’t the answer. Need far better in midfield than him. If you look at both teams I would say we are as good as them maybe even better in defence and attack however it’s the midfield where the major difference is. Halliday wouldn’t get near their squad and is way short of any of their midfield players.

Nothing to do with being negative. That’s my opinion on Halliday he isn’t good enough and wouldn’t get near their squad. Do you think he is good enough and would get into their midfield?

We have a squad which includes central midfield players Coulibally, Arfield, Jack (probably our starting three when fit), Ejaria, Dorrans, Rossiter (all injured yesterday), McCrorie and Halliday. Basically the manager chose Halliday over McCrorie, his only other option. His choice, he has confidence in the player. The point is, we have at least eight players for these positions and yeaterday four were available. That's why we need a squad, and ayone who thinks we can have better than Halliday sitting on his backside as seventh choice out of eight and be happy with that, is clearly not thinking properly. Who is Smeltic's seventh choice midfielder? Who is Hearts' seventh choice midfielder? Dear oh dear.
