If any other regime had triumphantly proclaimed they had got rid of Ashley and took the bows for it, only for us to find out later,

A) They spent £3m to get themselves out of a legal hole.

B) Ashley is far from gone. They signed a new one year deal albeit on supposedly better terms.

C) They signed up to a new deal with JD Sports

D) Their deal with Ashley includes the perpetual right to keep the deal going if they match the terms anyone else offers, and they must see details of those offers.

E) That C happened with no regard for D

They would have been lynched. however many believe king is the messiah and ashley is the one in the wrong.

wake up guys ints not outsiders doing us harm but the guys running the club.

Nobody is forcing ANY Rangers fan to buy from Ashley I'll be buying my 4 from the mega-store at Ibrox so all the money goes to us. But feel free to buy from Jd sports if you prefer and even aqnyone buying from S. D. we get a fare share of the money.

Mike Ashley kind of cut and ran, I suppose, when the going got tough. He’s disappeared, we don’t deal with Mike Ashley at all.

Dave King in 2016 after 'ripping up the contract'.

Thankfully as I've said on here before I take everything he says with a pinch of salt.

PS What was the £3M to Ashley for exactly? Serious question in light of today.

30 Jul 2018 19:31:22
The £3m got us out of the previous arrangement with sports direct. From reading the documents from court released a few weeks back, it honestly looks like all the terms of the deal were not carefully looked over by our board. Despite this the new deal that sports direct offered has to have matched JD's offer which significantly improves the money the club receives from the sales of the strip etc. It is extremely frustrating that the c**t Ashley is still around like a bad smell in spite of King proclaiming he would be gone by this point, what looks to be a poor mistake by whoever deals with the legal terms unfortunately means we have to put up with SD for the time being albeit on improved terms.

30 Jul 2018 22:31:40
Again though like others have said, don't buy from somewhere Mike Ashley owns, buy from the superstore, surely that would take care of any apprehensions people have of giving him money, no?

30 Jul 2018 23:12:48
It was the only way he would move . do you think Ashley was going to go so easy for 3 mil? I think dave has played a blinder again. Do you want him to come out in the press and explain his strategy? Ashley is nearly gone whereas at one time he had a stranglehold on our club that no one I repeat no one could see a way out. let alone a few years later practically rid . Let’s just buy our strips from anyone but him . simple.

30 Jul 2018 20:53:37
Bluepete according to reports online sports direct still get 30 % of sales from our megastore. What did the 3m to Ashley actually pay for?

31 Jul 2018 04:22:24
i believe the £3m was to stop legal action vs king and murray from sports direct ultimately and also to renegotiate the deal so that we could sell last seasons strips that had been building up.

31 Jul 2018 04:29:49
@molsgoals could you explain how king has played a blinder please. he has cost the club in the region of £3.5m BEFORE we actually see any profits and on top of that we now have a rolling 1 year contract which means SD will be our supplier until ashley decides otherwise.

on top of that how many other suppliers will negotiate with us knowing their biggest rival will gain full access to all the deals? on top of that has it been confirmed yet whether JD spsrts can or will sue for loss of earnings etc?

look at it this way to recoup the £3.5 million wasted by king we would need to sell 175k tops providing we get £20 profit a top ( man utd earn £23 with the best deal in world football )

doesnt sound much until u realsie man city only sold 325k tops between 2013-2017.

31 Jul 2018 06:21:49
Man city have a shocking support. We will easily sell double that in 4 seasons no bother.

31 Jul 2018 08:47:22
Rab . king has manag d to negotiate out of a deal that saw
Ashley rake in 99.6 % of a strip sake over five years. Which was sanctioned by his own hoods that he managed to worm into our board room ( of which king managed to rid of too I may add) . Ashleys deal was totally corrupt and unethical but the courts would not hold him in account. My god the government can’t even hold him in account for the way he treats his staff. Did you watch him at the SD inquiry
He almost stuck his two fingers up at them.
Ps who says it’s a year rolling contract?
A statement from club would help at this time to clear the air. but it always seemed a tad too easy . the guy stood to make tens of millions ( nowt to do with king ) and some folk expected him to walk with 3? It’s ashley we are talkin about . a bit to go yet with this I think.

31 Jul 2018 10:12:19
7p in the pound is 93% not 99.6 unless Ivery forgot everything I learned in school. P. s he's not played a blinder he's made a c*%the of it again.

31 Jul 2018 10:41:38
Mike Ashley owns nearly 20% of JD sports.

31 Jul 2018 11:01:01
Ok frustrated. I kn your fustrated and I exaggerated by 6.6% but go To the thread on the other rumours section and read DK17 he says it and the facts a lot better than moi. A lot of people have so short selective memories .

Dave King had wrestled everything from the badge to the car park from that scumbag and still people moan. He cane in to save us from that rat as there was no one . no one else. My biggest fear is that he is hounded out by the neighsayers and we go on the slide once again. Short selective memories for sure.

31 Jul 2018 15:43:37
Close bros own car park if we're being pedantic. Until we pay them back.

31 Jul 2018 21:40:46
Yea but we got it back from fatty.

The Retail deal was one of Kings opportunities to beat Ashley with, so he fed the hordes, SOS, Houston, Graham, etc. a load of pish, created instability at our club, encouraged and supported boycotts of our home games and SD shops, starving us of thousands of ££’s at a time when the club was precariously close to becoming insolvent again.

He then took the moral high ground, professing to have got rid of Ashley, SOS posting on their Facebook page “Stand down troops”, when infact, he’d only renegotiated a slightly better deal with him, gave him the right to match any other contractual offers, and paid him £3m for the pleasure of having Ashley **** him over.

Then we have this fiasco where King once again thinks he’s got the know how and the lawyers to rip the piss out of Ashley, until he realises st the last minute, Ashley’s lawyers have turned him over again. Admittedly, it only cost him half a mil this time.

Add this to the cash we’ll have paid Cardoso to leave, and it’s been a bad day for King, and Rangers, not tae mention the fans.

Now we’re kept waiting again for god knows how many weeks till we see what Ashley’s next move is - he’s holding all the aces again - and it could be weeks before we actually get to buying a top, and that’s if SOS say it’s okay!

Its a joke, but I’m not laughing, and neither will King be. Hopefully he’s learned his lesson today, and he has better luck on the 16th of August.
