My own thoughts are either Killie did a flier (which I doubt) signing Clarke or its Rangers euphoria which I believe on all this Clarke bluster but at the end of the day I don't think he has exactly set the Heather on fire and why is he at Killie for God's sake?

Agree5 Disagree5

He has better credentials than Murty so maybe the question is how can Kilmarnock get him and we have an u20 coach with no previous experience? What does that say about us that Kilmarnock can attract a better manager

20 Mar 2018 18:20:21
He's a Killie fan that's how. And they picked him up when he was out of work

I doubt very much that it's a question of killie being able to attract a better manager than we can, but more along the lines of Dave king scrimping and scraping, he's probably just using what he has available to him short term, whilst waiting for the season ticket renewal money coming In

They have attracted a better Manager than we have though. Even us scrimping about we should be able to attract better than Kilmarnock and King delaying an appointment just makes it even more difficult to try and close the gap on Celtic

Steve Clarke has done very well with limited resources at Kilmarnock, he clearly has an eye for a player and knows how to set a team up to be competitive. He has won zero though, ziltch and so I don’t see how he can be so touted on here so much. One thing I would say is that I was told by a close friend that a deal was done in principle for him to take over at Celtic before they pulled the plug and went with Deila. So I believe there will be added motivation for him to put one over on them regardless of whether he supported them or not growing up. My friends source on that one works at Turd Mahal. He will be a contender for the job i’m sure but let’s bare in mind he just lost a QF.

Dave king won't be there to appoint a new manager. Watch this space.

Thits say clarke did come would the fans be happy if he sat back and defended in the majority of games like he does at killie.
At our club teams sit in against us then hit on counter meaning we need to take the game to them to try break them down then they go ahead on the counter attack and defend more.
How would clark cope with that situion prob the same as murty not very well.
Our defence are shocking and our midfield lacks creativity untill this is sorted we will not challenge.

@arthurd - not one football fan of any club had Clarke on there radar to be there next manager. He's flopped everywhere else. If he hadn't he would still be in work down South.
He's had 6 good months at Killie and fans on here are nearly proclaiming him as the next Messiah of the football world.

He's not a Killie fan. His brother played for Killie but the whole family are Celtic fans. That does not mean that he wouldn't take the Rangers job tho. He's up here to prove himself and then hopefully get a decent club down south.

I take your point DS, Steve Clarke seems like an ok candidate to me but not outstanding, I just feel there’s a bit of an hysteria around him just now. It seems to me there are 2 options:

1. keep Murty and try to improve next year again using the two transfer windows.

2. Look to appoint a new man who is happy to work with Mark Allen and try to improve next year again using the two transfer windows.

For option 2 then Clarke is as good a candidate as any based in Scotland and with finances being tight he seems like a good choice.

The bottom line is we need better players and whatever manager appointed permanently will benefit from more consistent results if he gets them.

For this summer we need a centre back, a centre mid and a centre forward minimum.

Wee bear if murty does stay in charge it does worry me he can not seem to change a game when we are losing and doesn't change tactics on a game to game basis to counter opistion.

I also have reservations about clarke there will be massive pressure on him at rangers and his way of playing is more defence focused and the way other teams set up against us we need take the game to them so could he adapt and would the fans be happy with playing a more defensive game.

For me i think we need go all out to trying get the best manager possible this summer who has some experiance and someone who the majority of the fans would back and allow them time to build something at the club and the board has to back them with funds to let them build there team.
More funds could be raised with player sales if good offers receiceved
