I feel a bit aggrieved at the prospect of Gilmour leaving but I don't get the people saying Rangers or our management team aren't doing enough to keep him.

We CANNOT match Chelsea financially.

Therefore we have to offer a clearer road to success.

With Chelsea he can play for the reserves (alongside and against and other talented players), Go on loan to top championship clubs or euro clubs that are good at development.
With Rangers (in the current set up) play in our reserves against Scottish development teams or going onn lan to queen of the South. Not ideal!

I get what you're saying, but there's no guarantee he'll be loaned out to a team that are "good at development". What we need to do is prove that we are! If he has the potential that is hyped, he SHOULD be able and allowed to break into the first team at Ibrox in the next couple of seasons. That's what should persuade him to stay.

This lad will be sold to Chelsea and loaned back to us for development.

Good observation Robbie. We could do a lot worse than cultivate a relationship with Chelsea and we've got to bear in mind the boy's not 16 yet and nowhere near ready for first team action. He'll get better coaching and will play against and with some of the best of his age group in Europe and will benefit from that. I'm a bit biased in that Chelsea are my second team but he and his family have made the right decision and hopefully he'll be loaned as Robbie suggests. Time will tell.

BlueIsTheColour - yeah I agree we need to prove we are best for his development. My issue is that in the time between being a developing young 15 year old and being of a physical stature to cope with first team physicality of Scottish game there is no real platform for that development.
Development league is poor and lower divisions are worse.
Ideally we could work with a smaller team in a country with a decent development history (Eerste Div in Netherlands for example) like Chelsea/ Vitesse do.

It's a hard choice he can to Chelsea earn a fortune but maybe not succeed and end up in like feruz but he may succeed and end up far better than he would here. You never know.

500k for a wee boy I'll take that, be lucky if we get that for any of warburton players.

If the boy Gilmore goes to Chelsea if would be good to try and strike some loan deals off them! Tammy Abraham, Atsu, maizga and Brown are top talented players who would only benefit from playing with Rangers!

Caixinha wants Billy Gilmour to remain at Rangers so hopefully he does and goes on to be a first team regular.
If he fullfills his potential then he might command a substantial transfer fee for the club in later years.
We as a club need to keep our best young players at Ibrox.

If we really truly want to keep him, put a ridiculous amount on him say about £2 million.
