I reckon Alex is a good coach and would take him to the end of the season. His signings on the other hand are very poor. I think he'd be ideal working with a DOF but would be terrible as a DOF.

Walter smith had some terrible signings as did advocaat. And even alex ferguson had some disasters in the transfer market.

A DoF doesn't necessarily decide what players are coming to the club. The manager passes over their list and then the rest of the team go to work and secure the players with whatever package.

So in that instance Mcleish would be fine. However not sure I would want him in that role, I would prefer someone younger and proven.

Celtic showed their intent by signing a well respected EPL Manager with a good record. He was a top ten team, manager. Rangers need to make a statement and give notice of intent by bringing in a manger of at least the same status, and they need to back him with serious investment.

If they don't then we can take it that the Board hasn't the ambition to get us back to the top spot.

Like most supporters I would take a punt on Frank DeBoer or the Laudrup brothers if these guys were interested.

hooley seriously don't mention those guys in the same breath i mean seriously mcleish. ferguson smith advocat are far far far superior

I don't get your point james. What I was saying is that every manager has success and failure in transfer market. Nowhere in my post did I compare any of the above managers with each other
