Looking at the current situation at Rangers we need to think big.
Frank de Boer would be a significant step forward. However no point bin DK and the board appointing FDB and giving him 250k to buy a goal keeper from down south as we have just done with MW.

We would need to have serious investment. We need 5 or 6 singings at a couple of million each + wages for 3-4 years this is the 30 million DK was talking about. combined with a network of contacts and scouting to pick up 2 or 3 players each couple of years that we can move on for 8 million as they have done over at London road.

I would also be keen to see a figurehead or chairman who is hands on day to day.
DK being in SA may be for tax reasons but Rangers need direction on the ground at Ibrox.

I agree and disagree with you JFGRFC. why is everyone shouting for RDB? Yeah big name but that was his football career. A manager he is still to show what he can do. But I bet if RDB came in first thing he would do is look at Ajax. It would be advocat all over all Dutch players. We need home grown good Scottish players not just for our team but our national team too.

I'd rather have Ajax players than Brentford players

1. D boer won 4 in a row as Ajax manager
2. Maybe he would finally sort the youth system
3. He would play the youth if they r good enough
4. He would have a ready made scouting network of affordable talent

As a balance to these points I recon he's out of our league I fear

De boer would be just the same as Warburton trying to implement a system which doesent work with our current players and with no transfer window open and also no funds when it does open how is he going to make the same players better in the same system it can't happen rangers need to scrap 4-3-3 IT DOESN'T WORK WITH OUR SQUAD worked last season but for FS we need a change of system whos the man to change there's a few candidates but de boer is not will its will be stubborn 4-3-3 and barking out possession stats and chances made when it doesn't work cause we don't have the squad to make it work

How many players did warbs sign to play 433 that just don't suit the formation, our 3 best players were already at the club

FDB is pretty unlikely to come to Rangers. He is waiting on a club in the English Premiership. Him and Koeman were both put forward for the Everton job by the same agent. Koeman sacked his agent because he wasn't happy that his agent put both forward but he ended up getting the job based on his previous experience in the premiership. Frank is biding his time for 'decent' club in England, that is, one who has money to invest in players.

RDB on the other hand is still at Ajax and is still assistant manager with the youth setup. He hasn't had a crack at managing yet but is interested in managing at some point. He could be interested, but again it has to be on his terms. The stopping point for him is he has a young family and his wife would not be keen on a move to Scotland.

I spoke to RDB a couple of weeks ago and I asked him about Warburtons tactics. He said that if the system isn't working that its common sense to change it. He said he liked the way MW worked but didn't understand him not changing things. So I think he would change from 433 if needed.

Giovani Van Bronkhurst on the other hand is enjoying his time managing but may be interested in a fresh challenge. I've not met him over here in Holland but again RDB said that he 'might' be interested in the Rangers job also.

I think RDB is the way forward: good system from academy up, mix of British an Dutch boys and pros.

brunkenbastard-sure glad your post is on the banter page, never heard so much claptrap in my life

12 Feb 2017 23:46:06
Why is it claptrap Trueblue? I speak to Ronald every couple of weeks as I teach his kids to swim. Most of the time his wife brings them, but he tries to get there when he can. Our kids go to the same nursery and he also lives about 400 metres from me in Amsterdam so I see him at our local park with our kids. he's in the pool with his two daughters and we often have a chat about Rangers etc as he still follows what's going on.

IT won't be de boer, to get him in the board would need to give him a proper transfer budget, and we can't do that anymore, I fancy a director of football at gers next season, someone that does the same kind of job as Craig lav at hearts, but I don't know who we will get as coach, I'm a bit gutted murthy hasn't changed formation, you wouldn't really warburton is gone.
