All the talk we haven't invested in youth are people being serious look at the age of our first team squad the now doesn't have to be 16 year olds we bring in a lot of negative comments on here constantly we are in the second year of a 5 year plan need to give it time and a chance.

Agree7 Disagree2

Can you explain what this 5 year plan actually is?

29 Nov 2016 15:43:31
Well king and co are working hard off the field to stabilise the club financially warburton is trying to rebuild our team ok he had a full season but we were never going to attract better players when we played in the championship this is our first 6 months in the premier league need to give us time and see if we get european football next year then our transfer targets will be of a higher calibre all these things take time ie the 5 year plan.

I know what your meaning however I just feel plans like that are unrealistic especially on the park. The reason being that you can't properly predict what your rivals will do. After the cup defeat they have went out got a good manager and signed a few quality players. We are now further behind them than before and it's certain they will continue to strengthen so to talk about 5 year plans is pointless. I can see the logic in a 5 year plan for off field but not for on the field.

some people like biffo are negative by nature mate.
they have irritated me time and time again.

I just try not read certain peoples coments on here because they are their opinion but in my opinion they are ridiculous opinions.

patience has never been a part of our club culture but some people want miracles.

warbs has done a great job with practically no money.
players have underperformed and the buck stops with him.
but to want a new manager after 14 games into the new season is beyond dumb. it would do nothing but hurt the clubs progress and also cost them money .
but to some this is the only way forward because everything is either black or white.

I'll explain what the 5 year plan is if you'd care to read and take it in, biffo. When warburton was appointed our manager he said he'd need to completely restructure our youth academy from top to bottom. This takes time. He's already identified that a lot of our young players aren't good enough, to which they've now left the club. He's changed some of the coaches within our academy and replaced them also.

He's signed a good few young players that he thinks can be developed into good rangers first team players for the future, which again takes time. He also has put down from our grass roots level, all the way through to the first team, that all our academy teams play the same way, so that its not alien to them when they reach our first team, again it takes time.

He said it would take 5 years to see the fundamental changes that were made when he came in, coming to fruition! We will be relying heavily on developing and rearing our own, which yes biffo, you've guessed it, takes time.

Hope i've explained our manager's 5 year plan to you! The first team should benefit from all this groundwork in around 5 years time mate!

29 Nov 2016 17:47:45
Totally back you james stirling, regarding Mr. negative (biffo), i truly think he's in the wrong movie regarding supporting and getting behind glasgow rangers! that's my opinion!

29 Nov 2016 18:42:26
Supercooper

I just not delusional like you and mr Stirling and can see just how poor the manager is. You may be fooled by him but more and more of the suppprters are realising just how limited he is. Your explanation although good is completely unrealistic for an old firm manager and there is no way Warburton on any manager of the old firm would be given 5 years up exceute a plan like that without having some success and in success I mean league titles. As usual you trott out the your not a fan line which is typical of people like you. You also don't like people having a different opinion to your own and it seems if they don't agree with you then they aren't proper fans. You are as predictable as the managers tactics. Maybe you enjoy the boring style of football being played some of us would like to see better.

29 Nov 2016 18:48:45
Supercooper, you said, 'He also has put down from our grass roots level, all the way through to the first team, that all our academy teams play the same way, so that its not alien to them when they reach our first team'
That is actually one of the problems! Did it never occur to him that his way could be the wrong way? That young players need to be taught different formations, styles, attacking moves, defensive layouts etc? Does it not occur to anybody how much the game might change in the next five years when he expects his 'plan' to come to fruition? If we are going to see us playing in exactly this way four years or so from now, then all is lost.

Great post mate but wasted on people like supercooper.

That's another reason why plans like that are unrealistic.

Biffo, as w all know football is a game of opinions and great that it is. My view is that I really want to support MW do well and lead us through a successful period of our history and back to where we belong. I consider myself a realist and would not underestimate the challenges we face on and off the park. Despite my support for MW i am frustrated by some of his decisions and sometimes his lack of realism and flexibility. He is not your normal manager and sometimes his lack of knowledge of playing the game. This should actually be his strength and result in fresh ideas, innovation etc. He is under pressure now and needs all of us to support him and the team. We are in second place although have dropped about 8-10 points that should have been picked up. Nothing we can do about that now and MW needs to prepare and fire the team up for tomorrow night and the run up to the winter shutdown. 2 games against Hearts then Aberdeen and Celtic could make or break our season. I am optimistic that MW and DW will get a grip and success. We are rangers and these times as difficult as they are will make us stronger and victorious.

That's all very well and I applaud your confidence in the manager however I don't think he is the right man for the job and don't see how he will take us to where we want to be.

29 Nov 2016 20:08:57
Bifo, still yearning for days gone by,

Yes we are still the same wonderful club we have all supported since we were young boys, the difference is now we are skint with our merchandise revenue stream unavailable, we are gambling on cut price players or freebies to try and find the odd nugget, if we' don't produce our own we are finished . that's why we need to trust warburton, perhaps if there is no progress after 2or 3 years we can question but we need to believe and keep faith , there are no short cuts we simply cannot afford 4/ 5 million pound players .

29 Nov 2016 20:48:56
Couldntagree more with u biff, hate that if your critical of anything you're " NOT A REAL FAN". You're right more and more are starting to see through his limited ability as manager, however a few will believe in everything he says, we're improving, aye OK then. If agm goes for anything sounds like even date king is doubting him now.

29 Nov 2016 20:53:09
Biffo of course you're entitled to your opinion. You asked james stirling to explain our manager's 5 year plan which both of us have done to the best of our ability! Here's what gets me with you biffo. Firstly you NEVER have anything positive to say about rangers or the manager!

Can you and your not the only one, wait until the season is over before judging where we are as a club? That is the time to take stock and see what improvements, if any, we've made going forward as a club! This was always going to take a bit of time, especially where we've been over the last 4 years! Patience my friend!

29 Nov 2016 20:51:01
Wee ecky, has it not occurred to you mate with better players developed and coached in a way to suit his 4-3-3 system, that through time that his way of playing and the ingredients it takes for it to work, could work given time! Also with more investment better players to suit and play his favoured 4-3-3 system. Not for a minute am i saying that he shouldn't be tweaking our formation to win certain games, because he should and i do think he has to sometimes!

29 Nov 2016 21:53:20
Big blue Ayr

Spot on mate and that's what I was meaning when people talk about 5 year plans and stuff like that. It's unrealistic no manager gets 5 years at any top team to turn it around. The manager just doesn't have it and needs to be replaced. We are going nowhere under him but some people just can't see it.

29 Nov 2016 21:59:48
Of course you are a real fan and we are all entitled to hold an opinion. Just don't believe the rush to judgement, as tempting as it might seem, and changing leadership now would help. Furthermore imo it displays a lack of understanding of where we are and the challenges ahead.

Expect real battle tomorrow night.

29 Nov 2016 23:37:40
Sorry but need to agree with Biffo with most of his posts and feel he is more realistic to where the team are at the moment. Not been overly impressed with Warburton and his dealings in the summer transfer window have been very poor. If we were ever fortunate to get some serious cash which is needed to challenge Celtic then would I trust Warburton with it then the answer is no.

30 Nov 2016 04:51:56
We can theorise and talk about five year plans all we want but the facts are that we need to finish second at worst this season to secure European Football and we need to see a significantly better return for our money on the players acquired in the summer and the players to be acquired in the January transfer window. If that doesn't happen then I will be very surprised if Warburton is manager next season irrespective of whether we like it or not. King has pretty much made it clear that he is unhappy with the return we are seeing and rightly so. Senderos and Barton have been a joke, Crooks and Rossiter have barely played as a result of injury and in Rossiter's case he was known to be injury prone. Forrester looks good at times and shows commitment but does not appear to be favoured by Warburton, Hill has played well and seems to be coming onto a game but will he play instead of Wilson or Kiernan and Windass appears to be another that is injury prone. Our 1.8m striker has shown little to suggest that he will be a success although questions have been asked as to whether he is suited to Warburton's style of play, (which begs the question, if this is correct why was he signed) . Gilks would appear to be a success, hopefully Dodoo will be and Krancjar has been unlucky with his injury but will nevertheless be out for the season and could struggle to get back to full match fitness for the start of 2017 - 2018 season. All in all, not very impressive. Any players acquired, (and we need players), need to be able to hit the ground running, they need a significantly different mentality than appears to exist with most of the current lot and they need to be significantly better than what we have! In the circumstances we might be better going for pre contract agreements on quality Bosmans and hope and pray that the current bunch deliver second place!
