Just to touch upon the Barrie McKay topic. While I agree a dip in form and maybe a wee stint on the bench might help him I feel he is being made a scapegoat a lot of the time. As fans we are terrible for this.

Let's not forget the lad is 21 years old and I believe will have a big future but it may take a bit of time because he certainly has the ability. This is his 1st season at this level and I'm waiting on a few replies about how Ronaldo and co played at the highest level at a very young age. Not even a comparison.

Keep going on about it but as soon as Warbs brings in a natural Left Winger and let's Barry play in his suited position he will perform better. I really feel for the guy and the criticism he gets for cutting in, but he has too. Makes u think that even tho Wags is left footed he still puts McKay out there but I don't think Wags can play down the wings. Front three of McKay Garner Windass think Miller will and should play against Celtic but maybe not full 90 so giv first 45 then replace wi Garner.

We have four centre backs just now and we all want at least one to join the club in January.

But a left winger would seem to be the position MW will look to strengthen with a loan deal or ideally a permanent transfer.

Ryan Fraser has been mentioned as a winger who could add quality to the team. What are our chances of getting him?

Mckay has always played on the left so think it probably is his best position but i'd like to play him on the right. Ryan frasers a good shout for i think he's right footed too.

Huey, . McKay was played on the right when McCoist gave him a run. He flattered to deceive then, & he's still doing it in my opinion. His pace is obvious he should be flying past most of the fullbacks in the SPL, and putting dangerous balls in behind the defence. Then we will get something out of garner.
Dare I say it, like Tierney of the tic.

First off, he's a couple of months off 22. I was building houses with my bare hands and spending 15 hours a day in the coal mines at that age. He's not a wee boy and we need to stop treating him like one. Nor is he prospect anymore. He's a first team player. Secondly, I'm not scapegoating him. He's been poor all season. Doesn't matter who you are, if you're not performing then you've got to be benched and give the others a chance to prove himself. You say scapegoating but I say there's favouritism surrounding McKay. We need to stop treating this lad like a wee boy. Bench him.

I couldn't disagree more to be honest. There's no point in beating a man and getting to the bye line if there's nobody there to cross it to. He hasn't been at his best but he also hasn't been poor ALL season as some people like to say. He has played well in spells but just appears a but short on confidence at the moment and he's not the only one. The players need to start believing they are good enough for this league. They ARE good enough they need to stop doubting themselves and play with the same freedom and confidence they had last year. That's when we will really start to see results.

15 hours a day down the pits? When did u get the time to build these houses with your bare hands auld yin lol.

16 Oct 2016 16:00:37
I agree, get off the lads back. He is the best young player we have produced in recent years.

I'm of opinion that his dip in form is a combination of poor service, Wallace taking up his space, lack of options in the box for him to cross/ pass to and the over the top criticism.

Some 'fans' need to have a word with themselves. Somehow Warburton is infallible yet it's fair game to turn on the players. Other way about in my opinion, the manager is paid to manage the team and he is the one who should be man enough to take criticism. Ask BT or Barton about that one.

The players need our backing, getting on their case's during games is what the opponents are supposed to do not us!

Nearly 22? well let's look out the zimmers. Nobody is saying he's a wee boy and I think you'll find I agreed about the bench but you've obviously made your mind up about him and I've noticed you struggle to find anything positive. Building houses and working in coal mines at 15, give me strength.

16 Oct 2016 19:38:27
mckay was a striker in the youth team.

16 Oct 2016 21:41:12
Hahahahaha well it is the banter section after all. Seeing as I'm only a decade or so older than him, I pretty much don't know what coal is. Is it not that bird from Girls Aloud off the telly?

Re: McKay, your posts empathise the favouritism I'm talking about. Blaming Wallace, confidence, all players are not performing etc. The lad hasn't cut the mustard. Needs benched. Simple. No excuses. I mentioned 22 because we treat him like a prospect, he isn't. Halliday, Wilson, RK and a few others only have a few years on him and they get pelters if they underperform but yet McKay is exempt. Naw he's just another player. Get him benched until he gets the socks pulled up.

we don't have any buy to buy, maybe a loan for a championship side team.

anyway a wish barry all the best.

17 Oct 2016 08:21:52
Jmaster, totally understand where you're coming from, regarding the topic of young barrie mckay and the formation we play, in regards to the way he plays. I think you've got it spot on mate, bang on the money!

17 Oct 2016 18:26:40
Disco - you are putting his poor form down to bad service? What service? He is supposed to be the one providing that 'service'! He is quick and skillful but gets tackled way too often and has no end product 90% of the time! You can't blame others for that!

18 Oct 2016 14:26:06
Rfcinfinity, clearly you can't understand my point. Wingers need good service, anyone with a clue about football should understand- here's a clear example:

Scenario 1 - he gets a sideways pass 60 yards from goal, nobody to hit in box and the opponents defence in place. With no options and surrounded by opponents - not much he can do.

Scenario 2 - a good forward slide plass in behind full back has him in space behind defence where he can cut in and shoot or cross.

Problem is scenario 2 is usually gatecrashed by Wallace taking up the space and dragging in both their right mid and full back. Holds up play slows it down and opponent reorganised defence, chance gone

Understand now?
