Looking some of the polls websites are doing regarding Joey Barton (not sure if this one has done one) but the majority are vote get rid now my answer is why get rid what has he done that's so bad he's had bad games so has half the team including Wallace he got upset because we lost to Celtic good because I for one am sick of the whole we'll learn from this to me he has been made a scapegoat and the manager and board are looking to blame someone with a bad history and it's sticking and fans are jumping one board.

Agree8 Disagree7

What are the chances of somebody ever suceeding for a team where the board definitely want him gone but can't afford to pay him off, the manager presumably wants him out and a big majority of fans want him out.

10 Oct 2016 15:51:41
Now I'm not saying I want him gone but to ask "what has he done wrong? " is really a bit naive.

He is guilty of bullying a young player - Nothing reaaly bad here but he's got previous for this and it needs nipped in the bud.

He's disrupted squad harmony.

He's broken gambling rules.

And for me most importantly! He has disrespected the boss.
Arguing with your teammates isn't great but it happens. Both he and Halliday were guilty of this but when the boss says shut it you do it. Halliday did but motormouth showed his immaturity and arrogance. At that point he not only disrespected Warbs, but also the badge and the club!

Now for my opinion - Barton can close the door on this issue with 2 steps:
1) Confirm he has made a mistake in the heat of the moment and apologise giving Warburton his rightful place.
2) Show more drive and determination to be an asset to the club. Work his socks off on the pitch and aid those players that could do with his experience instead of undermining them. (thats not to say he shouldn't call out poor performances but needs to hold his hands up and admit he was also poor) .

I don't recall Barry Ferguson getting hounded when he argued with Le Guen.

Same applies when Ambrose bullied Negri, no one called for his head.

Also don't recall an uproar when Black and Simonsen got caught gambling.

Now I totally get that you may not like Barton but jus be honest and don't hide behind lame excuses.

10 Oct 2016 18:20:20
As I have said in earlier posts - did any of these players tell the manager to f*** off - that's the difference. - That's why Barton must go - he overstepped the biggest line of them all - get rid -.

10 Oct 2016 18:28:44
Bluegenius out of interest who is the young player he has bullied?

10 Oct 2016 18:46:53
Human beings find it really hard to be impartial, if Barton had hit the ground running and he was suspended there would be an uproar. If it was any player other than Barton people would find a more of a middle ground. Since the guy isn't shy to voice what he thinks or feel (as we all are here) he displays 'arrogance' (Under estimating scottish football and over estimating his skills are different things btw) by telling everyone he is better when his career shows he is. You know what **** that Barton guy we were all ecstatic/ couldn't believe we'd lured to the club.

He now if he gets the boot he wouldn't have had a realistic chance to prove himself. Look at Kranjcar if we based his performances back when Barton was suspended, he would have been a flop too and now look how he is coming on. None of us realistically have enough information to make a solid judgement and we really should wait until more information comes out.

Firstly nobody has accused Barton of bullying anyone except bluegenius. There has been no confirmation that he did anything except have an arguement in training. Nobody official has said he told anyone to f off. Also nobody has said that the manager or the board want rid of him and he hasn't been found guilty of gambling. don't base your opinions on paper talk. Remember who many of these journalists and sources are and what their true agenda is.

10 Oct 2016 21:41:32
Huey - I'm not somebody that bases my opinions on paper talk but the fact that within days of the suspension all Rangers' go to men like DJ and Derek Ferguson came out and said they thought he had played his last game for the club told me that this is exactly what Rangers PR wanted.

That's the way these things work at Rangers and all other big clubs and while Joey Barton is nowhere as clever as he would like to think he is, he certainly knows the club want him gone.

10 Oct 2016 18:05:38
Bluegenius, if you want to take that attitude then take it with the manager also.

The managers job is to manage the players- part of that is man management and through that he is responsible for the performance and behaviour of the players.

Could very easily say the manager must go because he has failed to control his players, failed to manage conflict (like every manager in every field of operation must), failed to get the best out of employees and worst of all allowed confidential employee information to be leaked to media.

I guarantee you a manager of a supermarket or any other job would lose his job under the above circumstances.

Worse than all that - due to Way this has been handed, Barton is not only due the rest of his contract but can easily take club to a tribunal for unfair dismissal or constructive dismissal- look at acas guidelines if you doubt this (because your wrong) .

To be Crystal I'm not calling for MW to be sacked- just pointing out that many of anti Barton comments are using shaky logic.

FFS just get him back training with the development squad if that's what it takes then sell in Jan. Its ridiculous!

11 Oct 2016 09:06:08
Boss Hogg if I just don't like Barton I would say so. I'm not a man that minces his words. I'm actually indifferent toward him as a person.
As for the examples you have given you have no idea of my opinion so best you pipe down.

Garry, This whole furore came from an incident where Barton was sticking it to Josh Jeffries, one of the academy lads.

Dishco, I'm not sure what ACAS rules your on about but suspending an employee pending an investigation into actions like Bartons are exactly what any Supermarket would do.
The steps he has taken are the exact controls you have mentioned.
The expected performance of a manager would be decided by a senior manager over an extended period of time not by some external numpty on a website.
As for allowing confidential info to be leaked. This would hardly happen when wee Davie's comedown gets the better of him on a Saturday shift in Farmfoods.
And lastly saying I'm wrong by ACAS guidelines? How am I wrong? I have only stated what is wrong in Barton's actions. I have not suggested he should be sacked.
P. S if a NEW employee showed blatant disregard for his seniors, colleagues and customers whilst breaking other rules any supermarket could let them go without concern as he has been employed for less than 6 months.

to bring up barry ferguson under paul le guen is just ridiculous one of the worst managers to ever be at the the at the time and barry was a brilliant player for us and commanded our whole team the way a captain should and always stuck up for his team mates and had years of service to the club won quite a few titles.

now barton I agree should be given a chance but if he isn't better in training and in my opinion he isn't better than what we have he shouldn't get a game but if ha can improve his play then yes if it betters my team bring him back he isn't the first to make a mistake .
first thing first though he must come out an say sorry to the boss and fans for bringing bad attention to the club.

11 Oct 2016 16:18:11
Andy1872,

I think that's the most likely scenario. We can't afford to pay him off and and I can't see there being enough grounds to dismiss him. Think he will either train or be put on gardening leave then the club will be hoping to offload him in January.
