Sick to death of the same people on here slating the team time and time again it unreal you think the way the defence is slated that we didn't win the league last year. Yes this season is a step up but give the team a chance 48 competitive games play 41 goals conceded working out to 0.85 conceded a game. Rob kiernan getting slated on here constantly too he can't be that bad or MW wouldn't have him near the team let alone have made him captain the other week. Tav can't defend either sick hearing people say that and cash in on him. Why? Then when he's banging goals in its aw how great a player is he now make your minds up honestly. Kiernan and Wilson may get exposed because tav and Wallace bomb up and leave them slightly exposed at times but that's our style of football we attack and attack and attack. Would be a different story if we were playing shite football and getting beat but we aren't just wish some fans would just get behind this talented you squad and unite for the cause which is getting our amazing club back to where we belong.

Agree with some of your post apart from Kiernan and Wilson get exposed because fullbacks bomb forward . they get exposed because their not good defenders that's why we're trying to get centre like lescott maybe sendeross in.

how are they not good defenders? did it happen overnight? Wilson certainly wasn't a bad defender when hearts skelped us and hibs to the championship. since wallace signed he's barely made a tackle and yet he's treated like a God.

Sorry mate you must be deluded if u think they 2 together are the answer one of them with decent centre half. wallace is a bit suspect defending sometime maybe be better with decent centre half and covering midfield player. Their suspect with crosses can't win hardly anything in air good on deck. first time I seen Rangers score from a corner in ages clint hill scored 2 because they usually play it short no presence direct from corners.

Wallace is had made some superb tackles. DW and RK are good defenders. The OP obviously knows football and watches every game very closely like I do. The CHs are exposed due to Tav and Wallace bombing forward. They move to cover and it stretches them. Tav leaves them more exposed than Wallace probably because other teams use this flank to counter as they would rather have Tav tracking them than Wallace. However, I do feel Tav does lack defensively. His major problem is not knowing when to bomb forward. I have seen him many times in a game bombing forward on to lost causes and loose passes. But he is improving. Give him out support and let's see how he gets on.

Cee- nail on head there mate. It is beyond obvious that it is the wingbacks who leave us short which was why we so desperately needed an experienced CDM who could cover their runs up the field. Personally I don't see how in 7 games we have conceded 2 goals and that makes Kiernan/ Wilson or Hill for the matter, bad defenders. We play the same set up ad Spurs and Munich. They only reason they aren't caught as often as us on the counter is they have 2 world class sweeper keepers behind them!

Kiernan is a poor defender and it's not just his defending that's poor his distribution is poor also. stokes first goal in the Scottish cup final was an example of just how poor Kiernan is. Almost everyone on here recognises the need for another centre half and that's because the Kiernan/ Wilson partnership doesn't work. I don't see anything wrong with coming on sites like this and putting your opinion across and if the original poster is sick to death of it then don't come on the site. All fans and every team criticise their players and as long as it's not personal abuse I don't see an issue with it.

Biffo - The example you use is perfect for our conversation - Because Kiernan was only caught out as he was filling in at RB because someone was posted missing. Tavs was nowhere to be seen when Stokes cut in from the left flank. You have invariably proved the OP's point to be correct.

I think what we have to remember is that Warbs wants to play a certain style of football. That style of football is going to leak goals, simple. For me that's the issue, Warbs only knows how to play one way and there is no plan B. Certainly that's how it looks we will have to wait and see. I think we have to realise that we will be extremely lucky to finish top 3. If that's the case then great and only at the end of the season can we make judgement. I have concerns however I'm just glad we are where we are and we should all enjoy that. Let's never forget where we were and who put us there. Rangers and the fans have a chance to put the wrongs right.

Tav didn't cover himself in glory that day BUT kiernan backed off him until he got to the 6 yard box which is unforgivable in that situation. also think big wes could have done better for that goal aswell so it was a combination of errors imo.

look danny Wilson has the potential to be a top defender and rob Kiernan has made a few howlers I've been really negative about them but in honesty it maybe the style of play and the freedom of the fullbacks that has left them exposed but with the step up I believe either one of them could play well with sum1 else (lescott for me isn't the answer but I hope i'm wrong) .
but cee u said Wallace hasn't made a challenge since he signed for us just go away mate he is our leader puts everything into the game and is our captain and leads by example aswell as being the best left back in the country!

at the end of the day they are both still young men kiernan hasn't played a lot of games in his career let's just support them and I am sure both will improve as the season goes on.

When you leave your two central defenders exposed at the back they are going to look bad- even Godin at atleti can get exposed when left one on one, they just don't let that happen too often.

You mis understand the point I make about the Stokes goal. Kiernan made no attempt to tackle him and let him run in on goal. I agree Tavernier was posted missing however what kind of defender allows the striker to run in on goal unchallenged? I remember playing football as a 5 year old and being told to tackle your opponent. It's the most basic part of defending yet Kiernan failed to do it.

Sorry but I don't think Kiernan is the answer as a defender and quite a lot of people share that view. As I said before he isn't great in the tackle, not dominant in the air and has poor distribution. If we are going to challenge for the league we need much better than him.

A lot of people on here refer to only one or two high profile matches from last year when discrediting DW or RK. I wonder if they've seen any other matches? ðŸ˜.

Ok I will put it another way. The season before Kiernan and Wilson arrived we had Moshni and McCulloch as our centre halves. Both were slaughtered for their performances with Moshni considered a joke and McCulloch booed. Last season we conceded only 5 goals less in the league than the season previous and we didn't have to contend with a strong Hearts team last season. Now to me that suggests that the defence isn't good enough and changes need to be made especially at centre back.

Like you said, we had different teams to contend with so can't really compare IMO. It would've been a lot more than five if it wasn't for the poor run towards the end of the season and everyone in the team was to blame for that. Also we had won the league so the foot came off the gas. Plus there's style of play etc. A lot of variables there so I don't think we can compare the two.
