Interesting to look at Brendan Rodgers' managerial career now that he is favourite to land the Celtic job. In his seven years in management his wiin ration was only 43% and all he won was the Championship play-off final in 2011. I'm just interested in comparing him to Warburton if they are going to be head-to-head next season. Though Liverpool came close in the Premier League race a couple of years ago, it was almost entirely down to Suarez that they were in with a chance. I'm not worried about who becomes Celtic manager just interested to see how they'll match up to Warbs. Thoughts anyone?

I think Rodgers is a very good manager and it would be a bold move by Celtic to get him, depending on who we sign it could be a cracking premier league next year, as I think if we get the players we want then it could be a cracker next year as Celtic will strengthen, plus a decent manager will get the best out of them across the city, can't wait lol.

{Ed001's Note - what makes you think he is a good manager? He has only been a manager in one instance, Liverpool, where he was a miserable failure.}

I agree doiger. I think MW approaches management of football much the same as his time in the city. That is to say, he prepares, he does his homework and he surrounds himself with what he perceives to be the best. He analyses every detail and finds a way to be better next time. He may be a newcomer to this but he doesn't look out of his depth.
Even in a different league we still managed to dispatch their 'manager, ' who knows what will happen now they have direct competition for the first time in years. Perhaps Brenda will be another name to add to their list of failures!

Doesn't matter if he is a good or bad manager it will count for nothing. Plenty of good managers have had poor experiences and ended up being sacked. As for Rodgers it will depend on how much cash he will have, how good is contacts are and how many players he can offload from a very big squad. No one can say for sure how it will go if he gets the job but it will put more of the spotlight on the Scottish game which has been sadly lacking since our demotion.

I just wonder how much the deal is actually worth?
and if they broke the bank to get him do they expect him to work magic with the current squad?
or have they been doing as some feared and waited to splash the cash they have saved for us coming up?

either way Brenda hasn't got a magic hat!

I pretty much agree with Ed here. fair enough he won the play off final. he went to Liverpool and got them to 2nd, with a big help from Suarez. when he left f Barcelona Liverpool really struggled, average manager in my opinion, wouldn't be at all worried if he was appointed as their manager. woupdnt be worried if any of the names being mentioned for them were appointed manager to be totally honest!

Just my opinion ed, I liked what he done at Swansea plus I think he did ok at Liverpool but because of the amount of money he spent he had to go, as I said it's only my opinion ed.

{Ed001's Note - it was nothing to do with money.}

James Stirling

Although I expect them to have a bigger budget than us I don't think it will be that much bigger. I'm assuming that he will get a certain amount and then more from any sales. Trouble is I'm not sure how many players he would want to sell will actually bring any significant amounts of cash.

I think Brenda is a more than decent manager, but the preS's in Glasgow would tear him apart.
