maybe he's just playing games wi burnley heads. he will demand at least 15,000 a week but we need balls and he has 3 of them.

Agree1 Disagree0

I'd take Barton in a heartbeat. Yes he's reckless, yes he's trouble, but he is a cut above what we have. He will offer steel to our very talented but quite lightweight team. He was getting touted for a move to Arsenal not long ago and in my opinion he would have been a smash in that team as well. Arsenal are the same as us, very easy on the eye but lacking a bit of mettle.
One or two like Barton (experienced, hard players) to go with the young skillful players we have and I'll be more than confident of winning that league next year. I think things are shaping up nicely, Celtic haven't even got a Manager yet (and i'm not worried about who their linked with, any of them) and we could have 4 players in already 2 with EPL experience.

Very good assessment bob. Couldn't agree more. I have never really liked him but if he were to sign then I would get behind him 100% Definitely add that bit of steele to our team.

Joey Barton would be an amazing player for us plus would give experience that is needed in our midfield.

Is our new signing Rossiter not a hard midfielder, also Crooks, why is everyone pushing for a guy who will demand massive wages and is at the end of his career, come on guys .

In my opinion, Brown's legs have gone. He may have been playing unfit for the last 3 months to be fair, and hopefully with rest and a decent preseason under his belt he'll be nearer his old self, but I do think they've gone.

Brown vs Barton 3/ 4 years ago - absolutely?

Now? Both teams have more energetic midfielders and in truth, there is every chance that this hypothetical game would be all hype - and pass them both by.

Barton's past includes some diabolical behaviour and his obsession with social media is not in keeping with Ranger's standards but as a player he is top notch and would certainly do a job in the SPL. Everyone should be given the chance to change for the better. If he has seen the light, screwed the nut and wants tho play in Ranger's blue I for one would welcome him. That is of course on the basis that MW and the team sign him for then we can be sure he understands the standards required to be a Ranger and that we are getting value for money. In Warbs we trust.

Hey PP, welcome.
How's your search coming along for a new manager? Maybe there might be some more "failed" city traders around, one never knows!

14 May 2016 20:47:30
Apologies, that post was meant to be a reply to Deecee's post below re Brown vs Barton. Not sure what happened there, although it's not a huge deal given this too is a Joey Barton thread.

Pie- I couldn't tell you. I'm not on the board, nor do I have any say on the appointment. I'm pretty sure there are plenty of failed city traders around; I'm less sure as to why you've put failed in quotation marks though.

14 May 2016 16:59:06
I agree Barton would be a good signing and MW is the man. picking the players . He knows what he needs and must be confident he can manage him and bring out the best in him . I ain't got much wrong so far!

14 May 2016 22:14:54
TPP. I suspect the quotation marks are a direct response to your comment on the Celtic banter page yesterday.

14 May 2016 23:00:10
Bruisedbear-

So he's using them incorrectly?

Sidenote, if he wanted a direct response he could have just, I dunno, directly responded?

Maybe that's too simple a concept. Maybe it's better to wait a day or two later and throw it in randomly on a different post, on a different forum. I guess I won't ever truly know. Perhaps if I trawl the Manchester United forum in a few days he'll have an answer for me in a thread relating to Van Gaal.

You'll be aware that many people choose not to contribute to the rumour sites of teams that they don't support - for a variety of reasons. I'm assuming P&B saw your comment on the Celtic Banter website, got slightly irritated by it (as I did) but selected not to respond (as I did) . When you posted something on the Rangers website, P&B took the opportunity to have a dig at you for your original comment (before I did) .

And then you reverted to type became a smart-arse or came up with an interesting response - depending on how people view your posts.

Personally speaking, when a poster of another team tries to be conciliatory on this website but is known to be inflamitory on the website of his/ her own team - they lose a bit of credibility.

I do accept, however, that you are happy to debate with any poster of any team - and appear equally happy to get ripped into fans of your own team.

And sorry P&B if my assumptions are wrong.

You do miss one key point though: my response was to a Rangers' fans question. This wasn't a shady huddle in the secret corridors of the dark web. It was an open forum and I responded- just as I would have responded here. I'm neither here to pacify or insult - and your suggestion of such is contradicted by not only the rest of your post, but by the very fact this conversation is being had at all.

You can take about credibility -- and what does/ doesn't raise/ lower it -- and that's your right.

If someone is irritated or offended by something (as you were) but chooses to slink off in silence (as you did) , only to bring it up at another time in the hope of scoring points (as you have) - then their credibility is non existent to me.

Finally, call me what you want, but at least I have the courage of my convictions. If I don't agree with something I'll say it, whether I'm in the (Bears') den or not. What I won't do is run back to what I believe is a safe place, and wait for the (unarmed) offender to venture in days later before offering a pathetic diluted excuse of an attack.

No key point missed, but thanks for the response. Some things don't need a convoluted explanation. And I called you nothing - but expressed how your posts may appear to some.

Your input on these sites is often interesting - keep it up.
