dunbar blue- if you are out there, have you seen the eight academy players being released? It kind of backs my theory and quite honestly worries me a bit. We don't appear to be the best at bringing them up, does this mean our academy coaching is rank rotten? I'm beginning to wonder. If the boy Knox is looking on, I can't see him being overly impressed? what's your thinking on it?

Agree0 Disagree1

It seems every season we release more and more young players. Lang and McLeod were expected to do big things with the club and I thought Gasperatto was worth a chance. Our youth team didn't perform well in the league last year and you wonder what the future holds for players like Walsh, Murdoch and Hardie.

Yes wee bill I'm disappointed for the laddies too. I can only assume that although they are good players they are not at or expected to reach the standard Mr Warburton needs. I have stated previously that I was surprised that even with some players out on loan that our 20's seemed to lose a lot of games. Hopefully all the boys go on to play at a good level and the next batch of boys through get to a higher level where we can also sell players on and not just release them. I get your drift though wee bill.

I would be more inclined to look at the talent we are keeping, young Zak Rudden springs to mind. Let's be more positive lads.

I honestly think Warburton and Davie want their own breed of players in tbh, at a standard they think they will be able to push for a future place in the 1st team, i think our 20's next season will have a much better squad than the squad this season.

It happens every year at every club.

I think the under 20 side will be full of guys around the age of 17 and anyone older will be put out on loan. Tbh by the time your 18 or 19 the development league is a waste of time as u need to be playing against older players in a more competitive league only by doing that will you see of any of them are good enough for the first team.

You can't expect every youth player to make it, of course we have to let boys go to be replaced by better prospects .
If we can get one or two gems a season coming through we will be doing very well, also please remember most of our under 20s side are probably the youngest team in that league .

What's the saying about eggs to make an omelette?

I agree with Brian-p, not every player In the youth set up will be good enough to come through.

If the poor ones made it to first team people would highly criticise the management.

We let a load go and the youth set up gets criticism, it is six of one and half a dozen the other.

Rangers had no effective youth policy for almost four years and many young players recommended to the club were ignored, at least two Rangers die-hard fantastic prospects were snapped up by the other half. Letting young players go is a very common occurrence for all clubs. If eight players are going out maybe Rangers have replacements in mind for the start of next season.
