Worth a read bears .
From a friend.
As you know, last night, I attended a Q&A with Dave King arranged by Club1872 at the Village Hotel in Govan. It was very interesting and he spoke frankly and openly, perhaps more than I thought he would. There were a wide range of discussion topics and he commented on the following:
He considers the current board unfit for purpose and following offering Douglas Park, as chairman, some advice, there has been a disengaged relationship between them. While Park remains as chairman, Dave King will not return. DK is against resolution 8 at the upcoming AGM as this would allow the board to exclude any investors, including him, and issue shares only in the Board's favour. He spoke about how some fan social media had made wildly inaccurate allegations about him and how the board seem to want to engage with such spin doctors. (See Follow Follow) He feels the club have let their values slip, specifically in how they have treated former players, the appointment of David Graham as press liaison (who has a track record of inappropriate actions, including bigotry) and he was highly positive and complimentary about James Traynor and his role as media and communications person. Dave also spoke highly of Ross Wilson, though he expressed concerns that he may be operating with his hands tied behind his back. He further stated that any director opposing the Park's, would be removed, and used Barry Scott as an example, someone DK personally rated.

He was convinced Steven Gerrard would have won 56 immediately after 55 and set us off on a run to 10 or more, but, as opposed to being guilty of desertion, the board highlighted the Aston Villa job as being something he should consider especially as the Board were unwilling to fulfil promises made to Gerrard. He added that GVB had been similarly let down and based on the Europa League and CL money plus the fees for Patterson, Aribo and Bassey, the club is on a good financial footing but the current board do not have the personal wealth to increase their investment and improve all aspects of the club. He did charge interest on a £5m loan which the board asked him to suspend which would have put him in breach of South African FRS rules, but instead offered to give a further loan as soon as the initial loan was repaid and to follow any other course of action could have ended with us going into administration again and him going to jail. He has met the US Financier, Kyle Fox, for forty minutes and was impressed not only by her, but how much information she had gathered and some of the potential investors identified, and while urging caution, felt something like this opportunity would allow the club to grow. He feels the current board see us as customers, not fans, and therefore try to get money from us at every opportunity. He believes Club1872 to be the vehicle to give the fans a greater voice, as it should be and he explained why he had remained as the club director on our commercial operations, building an 'understanding' of Sports Direct and Ashley and he believed he could get out of their clutches for £2m, and as per our current accounts, it cost £7m+ due to the Board's mismanagement and lack of 'understanding '.
He had no opinion as to who the new manager would be but felt paying compensation for a current manager elsewhere, when there was a considerable pool of similar talent already available, was not good business. The meeting lasted an hour and I asked him 2 questions:

What can the rank and file supporters of our club do to bring pressure on the current board, without causing excessive ill feeling or disharmony, in a concerted and united manner to move the club forward at this time?

In what ways would he like to see the structure and infrastructure of the club and its management and direction changed, while limiting the possible damage and poor publicity that such changes may cause?
His response to my first question was 'very little' other than encourage people to join Club1872
and to my second question, this is where he made comments regarding the current chairman and board as previously noted.

So we win the league once and Dave king thinks we could of got 10 or more leagues. He seems to be in dream land like Celtic would even sit back and no put up a fight for us to win the league for so many years. Only reason they got 9 was because we went bust.

2.) 22 Nov 2022 21:07:31
Very interesting budj to all of your post its odvious were all just customers in a china shop.

3.) 22 Nov 2022 21:15:23
Not the first time that I have heard that the Parks family is a problem. Seem to think that they own the Club! pretty much agree on Graham he was a total embarrassment.
Interesting that King rates Wilson, perhaps I have been unfairly critical of him and it is Parks and Co that are holding the DoF back from making quality signings, hence us ending up with 3rd rate signings!
As for Kyle Fox, I have found it very difficult to learn much about her Client base from my contacts in Florida, (where my Chairman and Company President lived during my Insurance Days) . All I am able to find out is that she has a substantial Client Base of wealthy individuals and Corporates and has an excellent track record of 'making deals happen'. No suggestion that Ashley was one of her Clients but then they didn't know who Ashley was as the do not follow British Soccer.

4.) 22 Nov 2022 21:16:13
Bud very interesting, off course he wants us to join 1872, May help him get the money he wants for his shares.

Also it was under his chair that the club introduced what is now resolution 8 to allow him and the board to control who shares are sold to

The last two agm king has voted in favour off all directors including park junior

Excellent update thanks
Will be interesting how he votes at agm.

5.) 22 Nov 2022 22:00:25
John from previous posts you don't particularly like King but do Park. Why? Or am I wrong I only ask as value your input and knowledge.

6.) 22 Nov 2022 22:17:23
Parks out. Before you say it John27. No idea how. Let's start with fan protests etc ?.

7.) 22 Nov 2022 22:32:07
One Walter to the absolute contary I really rate Dave king. I have sat in his company many times. I see what he is doing and not sure re his motives.

Park senior helped save our club, his son is an imposter.

8.) 22 Nov 2022 22:33:51
Good info there Berkshire.

9.) 22 Nov 2022 23:02:45
That was very informative reading
thanks for posting
And look forward to more posts ?.

10.) 22 Nov 2022 23:22:33
Otters I don’t want park out, I worry very much about faceless investors,

11.) 23 Nov 2022 07:59:48
Very interesting post and makes complete sense that both managers were let down on promises. Tbh Gio had to go but he also was doing the job with one hand tied behind his back. Perhaps his 'we can't compete ' message was directed towards the board Alex Ferguson style? Still backfired with the msg it sent to the players though.

Wee rumour going around GVB has turned us down . Hope it’s a load of bull but wonder if anyones heard anything?

1.) 14 Nov 2021 15:40:01
Going round where exactly?

2.) 14 Nov 2021 16:03:38
Going round in every tims heid.

3.) 14 Nov 2021 16:29:37
Same way that bookies got it right with SG I'd imagine they've got it right with gio.

4.) 14 Nov 2021 17:16:45
55 for everyone they got right there is a few they got wrong.

5.) 14 Nov 2021 17:19:20
I have just heard same from a well connected guy who was hoping for GvB.
He says they are keen on Koemans now.

6.) 14 Nov 2021 17:21:36
getting bit worried wht did he fly back home without the club saying he's taking job thought he would jump through hoops to get here maybe no cash to spend in january.

7.) 14 Nov 2021 17:21:44
GvB maybe shocked at the difference in the finances between then and now.

8.) 14 Nov 2021 17:39:09
I personally don't see any problem that GVB flew back home yesterday especially as there was allegedly another zoom call with gio today🤔
I think he'll definitely be announced as our new manager quite possibly tomorrow and no later than tuesday👍.

9.) 14 Nov 2021 17:49:33
Metro newspaper, Gerrards first signing will be Ryan Kent.

10.) 14 Nov 2021 18:42:38
I hope not Brexit Jam 🙏.

11.) 14 Nov 2021 19:11:02
How would Gio know what the club's finances used to be like? Thought he was a player then, not a board member. And coop every time you say definitely the opposite happens please don't jinx this one too 😂.

12.) 14 Nov 2021 19:45:41
BBB he flew back home because he wasn’t the only one interviewed and he wouldn’t have knowing if he got the job there and then do you want him just to hang about London for a few days? When he can be back with his family? What a strange comment.

13.) 14 Nov 2021 19:46:18
Brexit jam he may well be but the metro is a joke.

14.) 14 Nov 2021 20:34:17
Get a grip Ger88,what will be will be nothing to do with your superstitious jinks🤔.

15.) 14 Nov 2021 20:49:29
Just my thoughts, you go for a job interview, you never get told that you have the job at the interview, so what is the panic, Gio’s coming home.

16.) 14 Nov 2021 21:00:40
The rumour was clearly started by a Tim. There’s a text doing the rounds claiming he was offered 5k a week, told he had to sell 2 players in January and would only be allowed frees or loans and that if he didn’t win league no signings next summer either, oh and he rejected a 12 month rolling contract. Will give you one guess what team the guy who sent me it supports.

17.) 15 Nov 2021 07:19:14
GER88

This is how Gio would know the finances are different. He would look around him at how the money was spent and realise he was at wealthy club buying what it wanted OR look at the annual accounts.
Simple really.

18.) 15 Nov 2021 10:15:14
Stormtrooper, it wasn't just the metro it was in, it featured in the Big Issue and The War Cry as well ☺.
3 reputable papers all saying 20+ mil, I believe them ☺.

19.) 15 Nov 2021 10:21:50
Clearly humour has bypassed you and flew over your head today sgl, or maybe you just didn't read it correctly because you were too busy thinking about what emojis you would post. Not me who needs to get a grip "pal". 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔.

20.) 15 Nov 2021 13:57:56
Deeb - again didn't realise as a player he would have access to the club's finances.

23 Nov 2019 15:29:36
This new investment into the club I hear is definite and will be announced at AGM.
Very reliable source - I hear King will step down as chairman - investment is from Hong Kong - a connection of Julian Wooldhart -plus there’s some other big investors . perfect timing this . I know we have heard it all before but my source is usually bang on with info . I guess we will know more on Tuesday . Exciting times!

Bud J

1.) 23 Nov 2019 15:58:07
load of garbage, it will be a share issue, and why would king be standing down?

2.) 23 Nov 2019 16:33:42
That is word for word the same as what was written on Rangers news Twitter page.

3.) 23 Nov 2019 17:37:59
Bud J Speaking absolute mince! Dave King will no stand down just now Where is your source?

4.) 23 Nov 2019 18:30:28

Well to be fair messi and the boy O are getting on a bit so no point in looking in that direction.

2.) 31 Oct 2021 08:16:16
Ha ha, the boy O, Ronald O. Remember that from Only an Excuse 👍.

3.) 31 Oct 2021 10:50:03
And the boy de boer seeker. He was so good you would think there was 2 of them.

10 Jul 2021 22:19:59
I watched the game today - really disappointing performance and you could see Gerrard was seething . I know it’s about getting minutes on legs but a defeat from a second division side is woeful .
Unfortunately none of the fringe players are doing it and times nearly up on Itten .
Jones, Middleton, Barker should not be in a Rangers jersey - need shipped out ASAP .
I’m sure it will all gel in time and that’s a big wake up call yes it was pre season but I don’t want to see a performance like that again .

Bud J

1.) 11 Jul 2021 00:15:14
Agreed, unfortunately I would also put Defoe in the same bracket. He looks liken old man filling a Jersey imo, I would rather give the young guy in the youth team scoring for fun a run out. I appreciate we maybe need to 'advertise' these guys to sell them but this is not good enough. We NEED to get back quickly to NO defeats.

A lot of people on here absolutely deluded and small time - moaning about the rumours which they all are and suggesting someone like billy Davies is a good idea ? I think he's a joke and old school and Why does it have to be someone with rangers connection I think it's nonesense - name any club in the world who thinks this way - so smalll minded - if it's not a Rangers connection doesn't mean they aren't up for the job - MW didn't work it but let the board make the appointments I'm sure they will get it right this time - DOF is a good way to go -they are trying something different and should be admired especially if they get Ross Wilson or the ex Spurs chap - whoever they appoint not everyone is going to be happy but some of the reasons on here for not going for a Gary Monk or a Wagner is clueless - these are both very highly rated managers and would be a coup - the club is not what it was we need to face facts -

He's spot on then in terms of the type of manager we need .
Monk, Rowett and Wagner have been my 3 favourite choices so that would really excite me and I think the fans.
Of course Monk and Wagner wouldn't make a decision till end of the season as both in potential promotion to PL so Rowett would be the risky choice although lots of potential but less experience.
