Hearing there is a strong possibility that SG is going for John McGinn. Personally i would love to see him at Ibrox regardless of his Celtic connections.
Anyone any news on if this is true or no?

1.) 11 May 2018 12:51:14
I wouldn't waste £5m on him, that's a big chunk of our transfer budget

2.) 11 May 2018 13:08:21
£3m tops

3.) 11 May 2018 13:23:18
Hibs won't sell to us.

4.) 11 May 2018 15:07:36
Lennons hand has been dealt. He will be sold. that's why dummies are still getting picked up at TyneCastle. He knows whole team will be dismantled.

5.) 11 May 2018 16:52:44
Rangers don't have the money to buy mcginn wether £3-5m and they won't take instalments so think that's ambitious thinking .

6.) 11 May 2018 17:33:48
@Hibsbhoy you seem to think installments aren't standard practice. I doubt he'll go to Rangers but whoever he goes to will be paying you in instalments

7.) 11 May 2018 18:40:59
McGinn may go to rangers, talking to good hubs fan who says if he does not get move to where he wants, he will run down contract go for development fee

8.) 11 May 2018 21:26:09
Hey guys, av got a big cousin who works as an assistant to the board at hibs and overheard them talking aboit the future of certain players.
They are wiling to let join mcginn go for 3.5 million if they get hom loaned back for the season and will except 4-5 million no problem without the loan spell of course.

Whats your opinions on that?

9.) 11 May 2018 21:43:45
The boy plays for Hibs and has 1 year left on his contract. I think he’s a good player but with Docherty, McCrorie, Jack, Arfield and Dorrans in there already not to mention Windass, Pena, Holt, Halliday, Forrester and Rossiter its not a good value move at the figures being quoted.
I think he’s worth £2-3m with a normal contract but closer to £1-1.5m in current status.
If English clubs are prepared to pay upwards of £3m it’s not worth it at those figures, if that’s media hype and we get him for no more than £2m i'd be happy with that.
With HIVs unlikely to sell to us, Wee angry Ginge definitely not wanting to, McGinn a Tim and likely interest at £3m from Championship clubs I can’t see it happening

10.) 12 May 2018 12:33:21
He’ll go to Celtic for less than what we offer as per Scott Allan!

11.) 12 May 2018 15:11:45
McGinn will never play for Rangers and it shouldn't even be up for debate. He's not interested, we shouldn't be interested and anyway he wouldn't improve our team. He'd be another O'Halloran, taking a wage from an employer he despises while doing nothing to earn it.

Steven Gerrard has said yes to Rangers - and will take former Liverpool midfielder Gary McAllister with him.

Ibrox bosses have made it clear Gerrard is their No.1 choice and the man they believe can bring back the glory years.

The Kop legend is excited about the prospect of going head to head with Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, his former Reds gaffer.

Headline from the Mirror, true?

1.) 28 Apr 2018 23:20:31
Wish it would just be known one way or another, the Scottish sun are now saying Stevie g is torn 50/ 50 whether to take the job or not! Personally I think he will be the new manager come Monday morning

2.) 28 Apr 2018 23:33:41
Hell yes mate,

3.) 29 Apr 2018 00:01:33
I hope it is true I was very sceptical at first but after speaking with some friends I think this could be a great move. I think Liverpool will want Gerard to be successful and will even help him out with possibly loan signings we wouldn’t normally be able to afford add to that the buzz around the squad most of our players would never have thought they would be working with someone in the ilk of Gerard I think it’s going to create a major buzz around the whole club

4.) 29 Apr 2018 00:28:28
On Liverpool rumours page there a few saying same thing and be announced on Monday officially

5.) 29 Apr 2018 01:21:27
Stevie G stopped Brendan Rodgers winning the league once. Can he do it again?

6.) 29 Apr 2018 06:35:11

Would anybody agree that Alan McGregor must take some blame for the 2nd goal against St Johnstone? He was immense all last season but i see a different keeper this year. He is very hesitant which in my opinion is due to a drop in confidence. He should have been out and punched or caught the cross which Katic failed to clear. Any ball in that area is a keepers all day, l feel he escapes a lot of the criticism due good saves he makes during a game. Saves are bread and butter to a keeper and shld be made anyway, but he hesitates too often when coming off his line and rooted to his line at corners.
Cheers.

Besty78

1.) 24 Feb 2020 19:34:40
I did think he was hesitant at one of the goals, but he has been a rock for us all season. The defending in front of him was comical at times, just not very funny.

2.) 24 Feb 2020 19:36:39
Defended him on here last week but I thought the first goal sunday he could have came n cleared. his starting position was almost edge of his box n when ball goes up in air he drops back, then thinks about coming and changes his mind again. The 2nd one was just an absolute calamity, both centre backs (katic especislly) and mcgregor didn't cover themselves in glory at 2nd.

3.) 24 Feb 2020 19:55:56
I heard that McGregors been on injections maybe that is why he’s been a bit hesitant.

4.) 24 Feb 2020 20:08:37
And he's not renowned for coming off his line, shot stopping is his speciality.

5.) 24 Feb 2020 21:44:59
Bizzymybox, he was way off his line for braga first goal, i think that was a big mistake, surprized by him, on that occasion.

6.) 25 Feb 2020 08:12:31
Got to pit that down to a great strike, no goalie would have kept that out.

07 Jun 2018 09:22:05
Apart from the open heart surgery, could anyone tell me if Goldson is a good addition to our squad? I know nothing really about the fella's ability, could he handle the pace and roughness of the SPL?

Besty78

1.) 07 Jun 2018 09:28:58
Spoke to a few Brighton fans, genuinely gutted to be losing him and they reckon 3 million is a steal for a guy who would be epl quality. 6,3 wins most things in the air, strong in a tackle and comfortable on the ball is what they're saying. Heart problem behind him and couldn't dislodge the 2 cbs last season as they never merited being dropped.

2.) 07 Jun 2018 10:05:00
The bloke is a machine 6'3" and is fast for a big guy great addition watch the vids on youtube and what his managers have to say bout him great signing real sell
On value potential

3.) 07 Jun 2018 10:26:07
guy is a machine? played 3 league games last season. 1-0 victory, 4-0 defeat and another 4-0 defeat. 15 games in last 2 year must be some machine right enough.

4.) 07 Jun 2018 10:53:31
Mind you gazza was pish tay when he barely played in two years eh

5.) 07 Jun 2018 11:18:43
The guy has had open heart surgery not a stent for smoking too many fags. His game would obviously be impacted upon until his condition was diagnosed, given that and the recovery time it's a wonder he played at all in the last 2 years. His medical will be forensic in detail if he passes we have an EPL player at a bargain basement price.

6.) 07 Jun 2018 13:41:54
Bluepete, far too much common sense in your post mate, where's the negativity? Where is the defeatism?

Don't you know the rules?

7.) 07 Jun 2018 14:32:30
skidney broon are you now comparing a guy nobody had seen or heard of until 3 weeks ago to the wonderful gazza. gazza was a world class player before and after his 2 year out. everyone saying a machine a epl top player. we shall see come December how many are still saying this.

8.) 07 Jun 2018 14:40:39
Awe bluepete! c'mon the guy isn’t Rangers class, he plays for that diddy team from dan souff! A useless reject! We’ll never win the league signing players like him. blah, blah, blah. Can you hear it? that's the nae sayers you hear. Correctamondo, you just have to listen to what the Brighton fans are saying about him. they're gutted he is being allowed to leave. Fingers crossed he passes the medical as this could be a bargain of a player.

9.) 07 Jun 2018 16:13:32
Saw the big guy once and was asking who he was. Plays like Cuellar but not as athletic (He was a Spanish distance runner at youth level) but he’s a better passer. Guys had his medical problems that have been addressed. Let’s get behind him. Top player if his engine has been fixed properly.

02 Jun 2018 09:26:10
SG saying he's not wanting to encourage bids for Tav and Windas, anybody think this is true or just a smoke screen to encourage higher bids?
Personally i would not mind if either or both went.

Besty78

1.) 02 Jun 2018 10:55:52
I think Tav played really well against hibs but bottom line is he leaks goals at the back which costs games so wouldn’t bother me if he went but I think SG will keep him. Windass should go and stay with his dad down south. He’s too inconsistent and doesn’t play in big games

2.) 02 Jun 2018 11:11:08
Why don’t we play him further up the pitch and buy a right back that just defends? . Tav

3.) 02 Jun 2018 12:34:10
We can't get rid of the whole team, tavernier was probably one of the better players over the season and i think he will get better with better players around him, windass is extremely frustrating as there is a player in there but consistency has been his problem, hopefully stevie g can get there confidence sky high and we can get the best out of them.

4.) 02 Jun 2018 12:49:27
Ryan Jack started his career at right back. I would play him there

5.) 02 Jun 2018 12:56:52
I think you will find Tav is the highest performing full back in the league, left side or right. (Queue the obsessed mouth foam) . The stats do not lie.

He has improved defensively this season also, the CB's and our midfield which is soft as sh*te is the reason why we have lost so many goals. Tav is one of our best players, a complete clear out is not the way forward, keep the good players and add better quality to replace the ones that are good enough.

6.) 02 Jun 2018 15:00:19
Tav is much better when mcorrie played in midfield as ross, s natural instinct is to defend so he would natuarally cover . tav cannot be counted in a defensive line or role but has still great value to offer in the team . windass too . asked to do to much . I would keep windass as an impact player and try him for 30 mins second half for a spell

7.) 02 Jun 2018 15:58:46
Maybe not rangers class but there would be 7 or 8 out the door before them

8.) 02 Jun 2018 16:57:57
Id definitely give tav ago futher forward or in midfield the way we changed ricksen as he's definitely a threat running with ball and good engine but defensive positioning let's him down

9.) 02 Jun 2018 16:59:30
Have read and enjoyed posts here for a long time but this is my first post so go easy guys if you disagree. I’m with MOLS suggestion. I’m old enough to remember Sandy Jardine come into the first team. He was almost a general use player but mainly midfield then some time as centre forward, always hard working but not fast. When by necessity he was moved to right back he was totally transformed and was widely thought of as one of the best full backs In the world. I’m not say Ryan Jack would reach that level but why not? Nobody thought it of Jardine. MM played him there for Scotland and I thought apart from one mistake he had a really good solid game. Tav has just not got the concentration to be counted on when needed in defence but in front of a competent full back I think he’d excel, he’s good going forward. With Candias as back up we’d be well covered RM. just my thought guys.

10.) 02 Jun 2018 19:58:25
Jon bear
Jardine is the best right back the club has ever had

11.) 02 Jun 2018 22:46:11
Shows he don't know are league going on the hype of windass from down south probably

12.) 02 Jun 2018 23:19:57
100% agree Arthur he was recognised far beyond our shores as world class. Was privileged to watch him.

13.) 03 Jun 2018 01:30:47
I'd keep both unless an offer of crazy money came in. Not going to have a lot of time to find quality replacements before the 12th July and despite what many (including myself) have thought of both at time's the amount of goals they were both involved with can't be taken for granted.

13 May 2018 06:56:32
I see Lennon's assistant is claiming it would take 6m to land McGinn from Hibs, i know its no chance of happening but think he's every penny if Brown cost 4m 10 yrs ago, i think he's a great player but will eventually land up at Parkhead within 2-3 yrs.

Besty78

1.) 13 May 2018 07:43:03
Besty78,like you, i read hibs assistant, gary parker's comments on the daily record online page this morning! After disecting it, my take on john mcginn is this! He's a very good midfielder but nowhere near a valuation of between £5-£6million,
especially with only 1 year remaining on his current hibs contract, NO CHANCE! Then there's the part where gary parker says rangers would need to spend there FULL £6million budget, that they'll receive from the new share issue! I'll correct him and ALL the other clowns, who can't understand what dave king said, regarding the share issue! King i'll repeat, DIDN'T say that all gerrard had to spend was the £6million money from the share issue! He said he expected rangers to make a minimum of £6million, from the fresh share issue! Quite easy to understand, don't you think fellow bears? For our enemies who are wishful thinking on this sum, i can assure them, that they'll be disappointed, as gerrard's budget is a good bit more than £6million!

2.) 13 May 2018 07:58:30
Well said coop

3.) 13 May 2018 08:31:09
good shout coop, revenue comes from the likes of;

share issue
prize money finishing 2nd or 3rd SPL
season tickets sales
retail income from shirts etc
sponsorship from likes of hummel
tv money
possible european income
transfer fees for players we may sell ie fredo josh wes tav

this will give SG a fair bit more more than 6m i’d imagine

i certainly wouldn’t be spending that on a player from hibs with 1yr heft in his contract . I’ll crack the jokes!

the lads good but not that good

4.) 13 May 2018 08:50:28
Do the deluded really think that Steven Gerrard would take the Rangers job with a 6 million budget? We will make twice that in the players we shift out alone. Morelos 5/ 6 million, Windass 3/ 4 million, Tav 3/ 4 million and whatever other money we bring with offloading players. I truly believe he will get to spend 15 million minimum with 2 or 3 loans deals included.

5.) 13 May 2018 09:47:10
JGG1 I was thinking the same. 12 / 15 million. Depends on player sales as well I think. I'm happy for changes in players as current are not doing it. Think Gerrard will want some players he knows so fully expect former Liverpool players or current reserve / youth players.

6.) 13 May 2018 10:07:06
brilliant supercoop well said

7.) 13 May 2018 10:31:04
GET an orange 3rd kit selling in the 1st week of July. it will be a record breaker! Ignore the flack that will fly our way from our haters. it's a no brainer for maximising revenue. Il b astounded if we don't do it. there's hardly been a sight of a Gers strip out and about the last few years justifiably so. now is our time bears!

I don't believe this 6 million is the final transfer kitty amount. SG would not have signed unless he was guaranteed a decent amount (which 6 mill isn't! )
I think there is still more to come and why should King show his financial hand straight away? We've no even finished this season yet!
I think we need to calm it, get 2nd place and unfortunately be patient this summer. again.

Hard to believe but i'm a positive person and think there is truth in it. I think SG will be our manager and he would not sign unless good funds are available. I think King would go that extra mile to ensure the backing was there for Gerard since he has a soft spot for Liverpool and probably something on a personal level too (friend) .
I also think 25million would be more than enough to pull us out the whole we are now in. Remember Celtic took a gamble with Deila b4 pulling their finger oot and getting Rodgers, maybe its Kings turn to get the finger oot and try to compete now since the biscuit tin days obviously hasn't worked.
Maybe Rodgers will be away next year too just to make it a wee bit easier for us!

We need a big game player to play in MF every week, everyone named above would do better with less responsability, need a player ready to take the game by the scruff of the neck. Neither of the current MF carry that aura, we need a hard man!

Unfortunately i would have to disagree, he had a better season but is not quick enough. He might be fit but not quick enough. Plenty of people would like to keep him because he faired better than the rest last season but he is still not good enough for where we aim to be. If we get offered 3 mill i think we should take it. Remember we finished 3rd, squad player at very best but we could get better i think

Candyass can be really good at times but also very average at other times, tremendous workrate though and deserved his new contract IMO. A bit too inconsistent to be relied on every wk, squad player for me!
