Rangers had Ayr Uniteds Lawrence Shankland at Ibrox/ Murray Park today, only 6 months left on his contract at Ayr United and already had interest from Dundee and English sides. I have no idea if an offer is coming his way but certainly he was there. don't know too much about him to be honest but has scored quite a few goals this season.

The name Nicky Clark comes to mind but it's not to say he won't go on to be a Vardy either.

2.) 16 Aug 2018 09:11:55
No chance. Having watched him for Morton and Ayr I can confidently say there is no chance he is coming to Rangers. He knocked them in in League 1, his previous seasons in the Championship were abject failures. He has started this season well but has none of the requirements to be a Rangers player.

3.) 16 Aug 2018 09:50:05
That was my point so72 Clark had a fantastic season before coming to us and failed to live up to the hype.

4.) 16 Aug 2018 09:56:10
He would be cheap as chips and a risk free gamble at his age. Easily recoup whatever outlay. no brainer if the lad is wanting to develop and not be a first XI player.

5.) 16 Aug 2018 10:00:58
Im not saying he's Rangers class, infact He didn't make the grade at Aberdeen or any of the loan clubs that he has went out to apart from Ayr over the last year and a bit - but i am close to someone who works inside the club at Ayr and that's where he was yesterday, iv no reason to doubt his information as he's told me a few players who have been signing for Ayr in advance and got them all spot on.

Im not sure why he was there, it seems obvious to assume they are in talks etc but i guess it could have been for another reason maybe.

6.) 16 Aug 2018 10:25:55
If he comes in then it is absolutely a step backwards.

7.) 16 Aug 2018 10:31:14
Youth players not making the grade at their first club doesn't mean always mean much to how they are going to turn out. Stuart Armstrong never made the grade at Inverness and now he's in the EPL as one example.

8.) 16 Aug 2018 10:31:37
Not that I know anything at all about Shankland having said that.

9.) 16 Aug 2018 10:58:44
His contract is up at the end of the season I believe so might just be giving him an option for then. Better to stick where he is and bang them in for Ayr this season.

10.) 16 Aug 2018 11:23:35
based on the not rangers class argument, we would never have signed mccoist from sunderland then based on his record then and his first season or 2 with us wasnt great, and the rest as they say. is history- ian wright was in non league with greenwich borough when he was 22.

11.) 16 Aug 2018 13:03:05
People making these arguments haven't seen Shankland play. If Warbs or Pedro made a signing like that they would get ripped to shreds. Luckily, its no happening.

12.) 16 Aug 2018 15:13:13
shankland been great for Ayr United goal machine last season and started this season the way he finished last defiantly an option and going by goals he's far better than lanky sadiq don't rate that boy much at all.

13.) 16 Aug 2018 16:25:46
Every time Shankland played against us he caused us problems with both Physical and Link up play.
Some people moan about giving youth players a chance then why not a Scottish youth player.
Going down the leagues to come back up is not a bad thing as Vardy/ Platt, etc showed.
It’s game time and experience playing against older seasoned pro’s.
Good luck to the Scottish Lad if true.

14.) 16 Aug 2018 17:32:36
Honestly, not to bang on about it, but having actually seen Shankland play - he has found his level. Would love to be wrong but he doesn't have the attributes to be a Rangers striker. He is also 23, not exactly a youth player.

15.) 17 Aug 2018 19:45:14
Guys this one is not going away and the latest from inside Ayr United is that Rangers Will sign Shankland at the beginning of next week and that he will be loaned back out to Ayr for the time being, Ayr are Glad of this as they think he can fire them to the play offs - they still get a fee as well instead of losing him at end of season for nout.

I think this game tomorrow is massive - if we win at worst we will be 2 points clear of Celtic when we face them - there are no easy games at Celtic park and while i think we can go there and get something, if we were to lose, we are only behind by one - if we win we are in front by 5 and i think our next 5 league games are all very winnable and the pressure would be right on them - let's not give them any encouragement and get 3 points tomorrow. #55 let's Go!

AyrRanger

1.) 25 Aug 2018 19:05:09
Every game is massive if we want to build momentum, nevermind about what they are doing or what their score is or if we lose that's not the right attitude! let's keep firmly focused on our own games and don't think 2 or 3 games ahead and what ifs. Tomorrow is the only game that matters, let's go a bury them and boot that hartley nobody with a mouth up and down the park👍.

2.) 25 Aug 2018 19:06:40
Ayr we are only 1pt ahead of timmy just now mate so at worst if we both win tomorrow we go to their midden still only 1pt ahead

I agree however, tomorrow is absl massive for us as we cld afford a draw in Russia and at porkheid, but anything dropped tomorrow cld be a big psychological blow going into this monster of a week for Gerrard and the famous

i’d bite yer arm off right now for a scrappy 0-1 tomorrow

Let’s Go!

3.) 25 Aug 2018 19:28:05
sorry don't know why i said 2 in front! - i know we need to focus on just one game at a time but was planning my works rota round our games and it just suddenly hit me that although we had a tough start with 3 out of 4 away from home our next 5 after we visit the disco dome do look very handy to take maximum points if we can keep up our level of performance.

4.) 26 Aug 2018 01:02:59
Wow really don’t want to tempt fate, but can’t beleive we have a chance of going in to the manky tie undeafeated. So even if we do get beat before then, we’ll done Stevie for up until now.

10-13 million? Please tell me how you arrive at that, a consistant goalscorer, Europa League level top scorer, Full Colombian international. I'm looking at the likes of Mcburnie (20 million) and he is meh at best. Solanke (19 million hasn't scored yet) . So if they got 43 for Werner I'd accept nothing short of half of that for Alfredo.

Thought we were superb 55/ 60 minutes, struggled after that but the same 11 (minus Katic) gave everything they had on Sunday and just looked jaded which is understandable. A potential European glamour tie in February - try to take that in after what we have endured over the past few years. We need to keep our focus and get to the break unbeaten now.

I don't know what we would be willing to let Tav go for, and I'd much rather he stayed. But if it's Ashley that wants him his price doubles and he agrees to sever all ties and drop all legal proceedings against us.

He was marking Morelos for long spells today and Morelos didn't give him a minutes peace (Morelos was brilliant) yet still he was very Impressive and kept his cool, this guy would be a great signing IMO.

Nicky Clarke also didn't have Kent, Tav, Hagi, Barisic, feeding him. The boy might have done better if he had.
