Lots of talk of the board being at fault. My take on it is this. SG did not want players sold in the summer and wanted better replacements. We don't have that cash. It's not our model. So it was decided to bring in quantity on budget.

Defoe on a good contract wasn't playing and instead was in a studio somewhere. Davis at 37 was expected to be our driving force, Jack was still injured. Now Davis you can't sell to bring in funds but others you can. We didn't so we got Lundstrum who slows the game down. The board gave SG his wish, to keep his squad. However he bolted because he could see flaws appearing.

Certain players have now downed tools. Gio now has a team that's not his choice. SG won 1 trophy in 10 and took 3 years to get us into the position of champions. Gio needs funds to bring in players, but we have to sell. Chasing CL cash is what brought 2012 around in the first place. Long term thinking required. I would rather have King on the board though.

Here was me thinking he left because he was closer to his family and 5 million quid a year wages and the chance to manage in the EPL and a massive pot of cash to spend on players.
Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Defoe took a reduction in wages.

Gio needs to stop being so negative. His tactics were a disaster last night.

Three Cheers. Yep he bolted because of all above. If we were in the champions league and crusing in the league I think he would stayed. 🤔.

Stormtrooper. Defoe took a reduction in wages to do what. He wasn't playing, wasn't in the European squad. If Glasgow Rangers pay you, you should be playing or part of the squad. SG forgot he was in the Scottish Premier with a small budget.

Yes they were negative, but if he was going to play that way he should have had 5 across the middle and 1 up. Not the way we want to play but circumstances sometimes take over and we could have broke up there play before they could get going. No one was to know that so many players were going to have an of day. First goal came through a ruck of players and we had two guys down injured, second goal Gav let the guy get his cross in. And third Goldson turned his back on shot leaving macgreggor to se it late. This all because we gave them so much room, that’s basically where it all went wrong. In the past two year we were right in there faces and they couldn’t handle it but this time they did it to us until changes were made but by then it was to late.
