What's our thoughts on team selection for the Aberdeen game?
Especially with our injury list and Aribo on International duty.
Fortunately the spine of the team is still available.
Mine would be the following. Struggling in the middle a wee bit. And Lundstram failed to shine in the Dundee Utd game at DM and was hooked after 45 minute. But it might get physical in the middle against Aberdeen.
McGregor
Tav Goldson Bassey Barisic
Kamara Lundstram
Wright Hagi Kent
Morelos
I'm going for a hard fought 2-1 victory.

Lundstram was terrible against Aberdeen at ibrox.

I think we stick to our 4-3-3 mate. I understand Aribos away and Arfield and Jack aren't quite there yet but for the midfield 3 Kamara Lundstram and if the boy Sands is fit then get him in see what he can do with Kent and Hagi off Morelos.

Be very surprised if sakala does not start.

The engine room, a crucial part of any team, seems a bit light to me.

Would take that score, but would love another clean sheet, 0-2.

Sweep I'm pretty sure we have had players having bad games against certain teams does that mean we never play them again against that team? . going to have to have a very big squad if that's the case. a different team selection for every match day.

Ger88, we don’t play a 4-3-3 with 3 out and out midfielders anymore, that was Gerrard’s formation. Gio plays a 4-2-3-1, two out and out midfielders with three ‘forwards’ behind one central striker (usually Morelos. Problem we have just now is that his preferred ‘midfield two’ are Kamara, who sits deep and starts moves off and Arfield, who bursts forward and joins the attack creating an extra man and being the player breaking lines. With Arfield out, the question is who plays that role? Lundstrum hasn’t shown he can do it, Jack’s still out and from what I understand Sands is more in the mould of Kamara and more of a sitting/ defensive mid.

Don't think we should throw Sands in against Aberdeen, wouldn't imagine he is familiar with the physicality and speed yet of our game and game could possibly pass him by, easier games for him to come in and settle. only my opinion.

@John25 he's become a stupid scapegoat now. A fine player in the 6 position, but being blamed for a lot of Rangers' ills under SG earlier in the season. Everyone was poor v Aberdeen, that's why we could only draw.

Not a game to throw young Sands in. Lundstrum for me. No Davis. Lundstrum will be fine .

Rfcrb1872, a scapegoat for what? We are top of the league and just because some people don't think Lundstram is suited to our style of play doesn't mean he's a scapegoat for anything.

I think Lundstrum upset the balance in our under Gerrard. Not sure if Gio can find a spot for him. I prefer the 4-2-3-1 as well. It's not far off the 4-3-3 but pushes Alfie and Aribo further up. that's my take on it anyway.
