I’ll be pretty frustrated and disappointed if we don’t push the boat out and go for Turnbull. Now that it would appear Celtic are interested we should be going in with the correct value bid and get the opportunity to speak with him first. We’ve lost out on too many good young Scottish players over the years and I would prefer not to add his name to the list.

I don't agree. We already have a couple of players that plays in a similar position in Greg Docherty and Rossiter. There is also a couple that I would expect to be pushing for a first team action from our youth. Our attacking mid options will be arfield, Stewart, Docherty and Dorrans if he stays and Hastie can play through the middle also. Yes Turnbull is a good young player but not any better than what we have imo.
So why waste 2 million plus on a position of the park that we are really strong. Imo our centre mid is the best in the country atm. 2 centre halfs, left back and target man centre forward is what we need.

I agree mate, I’m slightly worried our signing policy is going to steer towards the here and now rather than getting the best young talent for the future due to the necessity to stop 10 in a row. Think it would be a mistake, but window not even open yet and hopefully Stevie and mark have it all in hand.

I agree with Coully. We mustn't lose sight of the bigger picture with an obsession of stopping 10 in a row. When the two Mexicans were signed some of us had raised eyebrows but thought oh well they must know something we don't. No they didn't. Maybe Rossiter will prove his worth, maybe he won't and fall foul of injuries again. I'd like to see Docherty back and sign Turnbull, even if we loan him back to Motherwell for a season but I can see a Scotland midfield of Jack, Turnbull and Docherty in a season or two. Throw Souttar into the mix and be a Rangers again with the backbone of the national team and a decent fan base. Turnbull won't make the Celtic starting 11 and it would be a mistake joining them. He just might make ours and needs to be playing and not following the Scott Allan example.

Anotherhampdenwin. You really are totally obsessed with the one and only Glasgow Rangers, I'm sure you must sit with our page, open at all times even in your sleep, sorry being obsessed you probably dream about the the most famous team ever, talk to your GP he can help, and you can then rest easy and worry about your own team.

Lets not get to carried away with Docherty. He was playing for a team in English footballs third tier and for a team who were fighting against relegation. Ian Black played for the same team a couple of years ago and now he is playing junior football.

Sir Rock, who are these 'too many good young Scottish players'? And why the obsession with a 'Scotland' midfield, kfraser? As for signing Turnbull then loaning him back, that's the most absurd idea of the season and it's not even started yet! And why on earth would we want to sign a player who wouldn't, in your words, get a game for Celtic? Then I noticed the Souttar reference and 'Scotland's backbone and realised exactly where you are coming from - unicorn land.

I think you're being a bit unfair Shaft1690, comparing greg docherty with ian black mate.

Shaft1690 ridiculous comparison. After one season at Shrewsbury Black had his contract cancelled because he was so poor and so unfit. Docherty was their shining light, their player of the year, outstanding at that level and will now be stepped up for another loan of either six months or a season.

Anotherhamdenwin don't you listen when when people give you advice, if you think the tic will spend 2.5 million on Turnbull, when they would not spend the same on McGinn you are having a laugh, more inane drivel from you, you must be a schoolboy.
