Few folk saying they are underwhelmed by the jones signing. I'm not, what if we cannot secure Kent on a permanent deal? Big gap on the left hand side, yes we have Middleton but every place needs competition. Yesterday Liverpool sold Solanke, a striker who is nowhere near the first 11 for 19 million. How much would they sell Kent for? A figure of 2 mill was banded about but who by? Think jones will do well for us. In SG we trust.

I agree with you James, I’ve seen this guy turn it on for NI and was impressed, Kent is an enigma as well as Jones, bad games good games, and to get him for free is a big bonas, Rangers will always make money on him, Stevie G. Has a shrewd eye it seems? So wait and see.

i think he will be a good signing. he can play at right back, he knows the league, and if everyone remembers gerrards comments at the start of the season the team was lacking in fitness. once gerrard gets him and and whatever other new signings up the same level no doubt he will be fantastic.

What you on about James. I hope Kent stays but if he can't we still have grezda Middleton Murphy can play that role you could add lafferty to that aswell imo Kent Murphy better than Jones I don't understand the Jones signing at all if I'm been honest.

Maybe we should just wait and see WHY he’s wanted Jones for such a long time, players could be leaving or moving to different positions? He’s not being bought for nothing, Stevie G must have good reason to sign him, would you not agree with that?

This site is full of Grezda bashing so I left him out of it and no one can be sure how Murphy will be when he returns. We need to build a squad of players and not just a good starting 11. Jones has been up here for a bit now and knows what full backs he can get at. Current international player on a free that knows our game. It’s a no brainer for me.

When Rangers made their offer, Kilmarnock said they wanted £750,000 to 1 million, no way was Rangers going to pay that with the guy just over a year of his contract left, it was a good bit of business, instead of a large fee he is coming free. The guy is a talented player and is worth the contract in my humble view.

Ulsterman I take your point there but 1 mill is obviously less than 2 mill so why not just pay for Jones in the first place instead of paying 2 mill for a guy that nobody had ever heard of? He may or nay not come good but at least with Jones he knew exactly what he was getting, so at this stage having not played a lot and not showed a lot, Grezda looks like he could have been a waste of 2 mill, as I say he may not be but has to start showing something.

Am I missing something here gents. When we bid for jones SG wasn’t the manager. Now he has been for a good few months maybe he has seen what jones has to offer the club as said before we need a strong squad and not just a good 11.
