If anybody genuinely believed Gerrard was going to come in and and blow every team out of the water in his first few months then you are delusional.

Yesterday's performance was shocking I agree, but let's look at the bigger picture here - a new manager will always take time to settle his side, even the best managers at the best clubs in the world stutter while finding their feet.

Gerrard was always going to lose games and for that reason I am shocked we are undefeated in Europe after 9 games.

There will be a few more bumps in the road but people need to give the man time, we cannot keep going through managers or we will make no long term progress.

Totally agree Bearmode, I think most are just frustrated because Celtic have been so poor but we all really need to focus on us, we have a solid foundation to build on, good players who performed poorly yesterday and who need to be consistently better but we are a least a couple of quality players short, players who can grab a game like that by the scruff of the neck and who are expensive unfortunately.

Problem is we all like being delusional After 2 big wins we all want to believe the good times are coming back. Its got a name let's call it FAN derived from fanatic. Can't help it never going to change we all want to believe and 1 terrible performance ain't going to stop me.

I agree BearMode. but I keep saying and believe we the support and the media have overhyped Stevie, and this is the reason we feel so much hurt when the team don't perform to our expectations.

@bearmode91 - that’s far too sensible a post for a Monday when you have the usual suspects on bumping their gums about Gerrards tactics, Morelos, Tav etc.
The same fans who will be creaming their pants when we horse Rapid on Thursday and the Jambos on Sunday.
This over reaction to every game does my head in!

Have to agree bearmode, he said when he signed that there would be bumps along the way, new manager, new team, it takes time, I know that a lot of fans want instant success, but two defeats in eighteen games is a steady start, I honestly think that he still doesn't know his best formation, but its a big improvement on last season as far as style of football is concerned. Its frustrating when the tic are struggling and getting bad write ups, but who could have predicted the start of the season that some of the other clubs are having? We will get there!

Excellent post. He wasn't brought in to win the league first season either, just to close the gap and build us up have us competing in europe. And he's doing that.

A few points, I have been a Fan for over fifty years and like most of us believe we should win every game. we won't no one does.
Regardless of who beats us it’s heartbreaking, this club is a big part in most of our lives
How the team bounces back and responds is the important issue, so far after a poor display response has been good
This is clearly a work in progress, though not perfect there is a good foundation to build on. Our success in Europe will help build the team next year
We are remarkably lucky to have Steve and Gary etc as the management team, they will attract a higher standard of player to help improve the team
The players we have are the players we’ve got, they are pulling on Rfc jerseys and should receive our full support while they are with the club
We have only lost two games for a new young team that is not too bad. I for one can see the signs of real progress from the past few years
We as supporters of the greatest team in the world should never condone and should do all we can to prevent the coin throwing or similar issues. This is a club with a proud past which should not be tarnished.
Rant over sorry c'mon the gers.

Surely though we should be doing better against teams like Livingston? Kelly and Halkett were considered not good enough for us but they had an easy a day and looked so comfortable. Livingston didn’t have the luxury of spending millions of pounds on players but they totally outplayed us from start to finish in fact they might be annoyed they didn’t win by more.

I totally agree that nobody should be talking about SG getting the boot, that's just silly, we have definitely improved since last season and hats off to him getting us into group stages. My problem is that he does rotate too much, of course you need to keep players fresh IF they are fatigued but we aren't even a quarter of the way through the season yet, I think he has to find what he believes is his best possible 11 and go with it for a run of games. Changing 1 or 2 here and there is alright but the only way to strike up good partnerships is having players playing together all the time, he changes 3,4,5 players at a time and that surely brings no continuity to the team. He definitely knows what he's doing but I feel he is over thinking things at times. I dare say a win on Thursday and Sunday and we will be world beaters again, worral is mince.
