Don’t think we can get GVB but tbh I don’t want him anyway.

Same with Frank De Boer. I’m not interested in expansive, playing the ball out from the back.

Not saying I want to see boring football, but I want a manger that knows how to change his style to suit the opponent or the flow of a game.

Might just be me buying into the hype but I honestly cannot see past Steve Clarke just now. It is not just because his recent form, he’s had experience at the top level with some of the best managers around, plenty contacts to mix in well with Mark Allen (I mean he managed to get Mulumbu to sign for Kilmarnock fs) .

Did nobody on here think to themselves when Kilmarnock signed Clarke ‘that’s some signing for Kilmarnock’? I did anyway.

I’m forever grateful for what the current board have done to settle the storm left by Green and Ashley etc, but it’s kind of worrying they didn’t know somebody like Clarke was available when they looked to appoint Pedro. Hopefully they get the next appointment right.

If it’s Murty i’ll be right behind him as I do any manager who comes in.

Clarke has already stated he wasn’t interested in rangers job unless goalposts have moved I don't think he will change his mind

Couldn't agree more BearMode91,in your frank and honest assessment, of how good a manager/ head coach, stevie clarke is! I have openly said on here on numerous occasions, that i want graeme murty to be given the rangers manager's job permanently, at the end of the season, on a 12 month rolling contract! I honestly don't see that being a massive gamble at all! In one transfer window murty and allen have shown good signs, in the signings they've made! I know murty is still green (pardon the pun), as the rangers permanent manager at the minute, but i honestly only see murty getting better and better with the experience of being in the top job! Of course his right hand man, jimmy nicholl will help him greatly, coupled by the 3rd member of our management team, jonathan johansson! Having said my piece on murty i have to say, that if the directors don't give murty the gig, then imo they must make a move, to appoint kilmarnock manager,
stevie clarke, as the next rangers manager! At the very least, sound clarke out first, to see if he would be interested, before approaching kilmarnock, for permission to speak to him and the likelihood hood of compensation being agreed! I know clarke is allegedly celtic orientated as a youth, but i honestly still couldn't see him turning down the rangers manager's job, if offered it! I agree with BearMode91,regarding going for stevie clarke before either frank de boer or gio van bronckhorst, who i also rate and like (both)! I think clarke would be the better fit, with his extensive experience and knowledge, of the british game especially! Not to mention the fantastic contacts he also has, within the game!

Clarke didn't exactly set the heather on fire in his two managerial stints as the outright manager - with Reading and West Brom. Being an assistant manager or coach is one thing, but managing the mighty Glasgow Rangers is another. Forget about Clarke, give Murty a few more games until the end of the season then see. If we don't finish 2nd or win the Scottish Cup then I think Murty should go back to the youth team and get someone else in. Who? I have no idea!

What do you think Stevie Clark will see that McInnes didn't? Boarddoom chaos with chairman fighting an ego battle he can't win in the courts. Club propped up by loans year on year. More and more reliance on short term loan deals on the park. Huge pressure to win despite all of the above structural problems. Clark might be tempted to think he has a better sprinboard by punching above their weight at Kilmarnock, rather than being seen to fail at Rangers for reasons he can't control. That's the reality. Poisoned chalice.

Every time another manager does well in the leuge we are been linked with them first mcciniss tommy wright now clark they all may be decent managers but they are all doing it for lesser clubs with no pressure on them.
For me i think we need aim for a better standard of manager to challenge celtic and progress in europa leauge.

Snell some of you guys on here are needing to read and digest my posts properly mate! I never once said that i want michel preud'homme! I got info from a good source saying that he was under consideration! I did say before that the guy has an impressive CV! But so do a helluva lot of other managers! If you have continued to read my posts i've stated very clearly that i'd like murty to get the chance on a 12 month rolling contract! Hope that clears that up for you!

yep i totally understand you want Murty mate! very clear, as is the very specific 12 month rolling contract detail. think i interpreted "if the board decide to change, they should look at him" as an endorsement from you. my mistake mate. look forward to seeing who you fancy for it tomorrow 😉

At the end of the day the board should have an idea or be drawing up a shortlist and doing their due diligence on potential new managers if it's not to be Murty, I worry that if the board leave all of this until after the cup sf or worse the end of the season we could miss out on targets as other clubs aren't going to hang about. I'm putting faith in the board that whomever is in the job gets financial backing as we are still some way behind the other lot but I will back them all the way.

Tryanikian, Clarke and his family are Kilmarnock fans. Google it and you’ll see.

Clarke would definitely bring more experience and knowledge of managing a club than Murty but if he was that good why is he at Kilmarnock? The more I think about it, I'm wondering if poor agent or nobody down south at bigger clubs thought he was any good after West Brom and Reading sackings. Owen Coyle in same boat but he didn't work out. Will kilmarnock job lead to a better job in England I'm not so sure.
Murty wants the job and its his to lose in my eye. If he lifts cup and finishes 2 nd he's hit his targets for the season. Job will be his. Onwards

Murty can’t be given the job it’s far too big for him. He is the u20 coach and needs to go back to that.

Well I am confused we brought Jimmy nic in as assistant manager to murty Supposedly because he had been a reasonably successful manager in his own right and a rangers man but he seems to be giving Murty no help whatsoever as his tactics are still as naive as they were before Jimmy turned up maybe Jimmy is priming himself for the job.

16.) 20 Mar 2018
20 Mar 2018 17:29:09
is Jimmy Nic's managerial record that good? Genuine question, i don't know. I think JN was brought in to show the squad the traditions and values of the club and what it means to be a Glasgow Ranger. in terms of tactics, he may well be offering his opinion but currently the buck stops with Murty and maybe he is deciding to not make use of the advice and do things his way?

I agree, Snell, Jimmy Nic was going to be the man to instil some steel into the players and a proper understanding of what the club was about to both players and Murty. If you watch during games, all you see is Murty and JJ whispering to each other while Nic just sits there. I feel he is not getting his place and that all might not be well within the background team.

I'm not even convinced he was Murty's appointment because at the time the manager said There is a school of thought that everyone should be singing from the same hymn sheet and obviously I was tempted to go for a younger person, a bit like myself. But when you balance the management team up, we needed someone with a cooler head. Hopefully this is the right blend to take us forward. '
Doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement, does it?
