For me we're getting it all wrong here. We don't need a manager. we need a coach. We have a director of football in place who takes away a lot of the responsibilities and duties of an old style football manager leaving the football side of things solely to the coach. I think we have the perfect coach right under our noses in Murty. Give the guy the gig to the end of the season. With the right scouting dept and the proper back-up team now in place also i think he could do a great job.

I agree bigjohn, I would be happy to see how things go over the next 6 weeks. If we are sitting 2nd with good results against Aberdeen then i’d give Murty a 1 year rolling contract. It’s early days but his instructions to the players have made them get the results, I expect another 2 wins to follow before the Aberdeen games then we will see where we are at.

One worry I have is that whoever gets the managers job should have the final say on any transfers IMO. The director of football should be overseeing scouting, youth development and to an extent transfers but I don’t want a situation whereby the coach is there to coach what he’s given every summer like what happens at some Prem/ European clubs.

Agreed wee bear. The manager must identify the players he wants then it is up to the director of football to broker the deal.

Murty is intelligent, speaks very well, we know he's a good coach and most importantly he has the respect and backing of the players. No brainer for me!

I wouldn't get carried away and say the next 2 games are gimmies because that's when you usually get bit on the archie
