I don't see the logic in Ashley investing now? apparently he is willing to put in 30m to takeover, plus bankroll transfers etc. Why now, when he wouldn't have had to put in anywhere near 30m to be majority shareholder a few years ago?

Perhaps to avoid damaging court cases

Now we are likely to be in Europe, he is being starved of income from the merchandise deal, there will be a blue moon in the sky before he sees Newcastle United in Europe and the stock price of Sports Direct is down.
He has a Board of Directors to appease. An investment of £30m to buy the club + an additional £30m for players is a lot less than it would cost him to market Sports Direct in Europe and further afield.

It all seems very strange camoo, I'm thinking he is playing mind games with king trying to force him to come out and tell us what exactly is going on like whether king has the money or not, because let's face it £30 million to a billionaire is not a lot of money really whereas it's forcing kings hand to respond.

Oh, dear. Ashley CANNOT invest in Rangers without selling Newcastle first and nobody wants to buy them. It's a malicious story from a hostile source and is already doing what it was designed to do - cause arguments and dissent. Anyone who thinks for a second that Ashley would be good for Rangers is living in cloud cuckoo land. He'd milk us dry then 'Ken Bates' us!

Just for the record, I think if he is genuine, we should take time to consider the offer then politely tell him to shuv it up his oversized bottom :-) :-) .

The only intention he has shown so far is ripping us off, and I am for once grateful to the SFA for not giving him their backing to increase his % in the club.

Yeah he has the cash to own us right out and bankroll us. But to play in eu comps, we would need to be within fair play rules and as a result probably playing in the Sports Direct Arena, with Sports Direct strip sponsors and consuming Sports Direct pies, burgers and cokes lol.

Everything we get we would also have to give back at interest.

Wee_ecky, Ashley can have Rangers and Newcastle. 2 different assosiations no conflict unless both qualify for same european competition.

Johnnymac: The Football League allows ownership of up to 10 per cent of other clubs, including those in Scotland, provided they are “held purely for investment purposes only”. Ashley's 9% is already close to what is considered to be a 'casual' shareholding and he can't go above that, Europe or no Europe.
