Neil McCann made a great observation at half time yesterday regarding our goal. The movement of Miller and Garner was that of a strike pairing. He was absolutly spot on. Miller peeled off back stick, cushioned a header into a dangerous position and there's Garner with something to throw himself at. Really good goal.

General question to you all, is the 4-4-2 totally dead in football now?

McCoist/ Hately, Shearer/ Sutton, Cole/ Yorke. all excellent partnerships in the past. Nowadays there's no partnerships around with 2 recognised centre forwards, it's a shame as I'd love to see the return of a 4-4-2 with 2 out and out goalscorers working off each other, 2 wide men hitting the by line on a regular basis and a couple of good ball playing centre mids dictating our play. A 4-4-2 also gives a team more variety, something we lack and something Strachan picked up on post match. The one time we get a good delivery into the box we score.

I reckon that with the appropriate quality it would still work but for us just now with Miller past his best and no other striker of quality to play alongside Garner not to mention our excuse for a defence we might struggle!

leicester won the epl playing 442 bud, still a lot of teams use it, we have used it a few times this season.

We can thank pep Guardiola for the 442 demise! With his boring brand of keep ball! Fergies 442 system was always great to watch, nothing better than 2 main strikers working off each other. I will add another few partnerships in there

Cantona/ Hughes
Sheringham/ Cole
Shearer / ferdinand
Quinn / Phillips

All superb to watch.

Bhoywonder, Leicester never played with a conventional 4-4-2, Mahrez was closest to Vardy but no alongside him. Rarely, if ever, would they go with say Ulloa partnering Vardy. I'd say 4-4-2 suits Celtic right now with the obvious talent Dembele has and the goals Griffiths contributes and in Forrest and Roberts they have 2 natural wide men, albeit Forrest's delivery is questionable at times. Also, Rogic is a player and has all the attributes IMO to play centre mid in that system (the sooner he gets sold the better)

Scotty, totally agree with the Guardiola comment. The tiki taka or whatever style it's labelled as doesn't do it for me. I've always hated it, thank god for the Germans eh. Bayern sussed Barcelona out I'm the CL and showed the world how to play against it. hence Spains poor world cup in 2014. All the top teams now seem to have that 1 lone striker, there's Chelsea signed the Belgium lad in the summer for £30+m but I bet he and Costa rarely start a game together this season. that's just one example of many. I'm with you mate, BRIMG BACK THE 4-4-2!

The goal was offside watch it.
Garner didn't need to touch the ball it was going in from Kenny header.
