I don't think there is anything wrong with an individual or a group of people pouring millions into a football club, as long as it is their money and not putting the club in debt. You should be able to do what you like with your own money. i also know that is against the rules but I think the rules are gash.

I have mixed feelings about it. I don't think the rules are going to do anything enforceable.

I also don't mind millionaires throwing away their money but what I do mind is when they spit the dummy and try to strip every dollar they can out of the club when they walk out the door.

Our own club was a mess when Murray dumped it for a pound. And our new owners were worse.

I think if an owner buys in he has to front the first and last years operating costs in order for a smooth transition. If the owner wants to drop 100 million on Mbappe then he gives it to the club, don't expect returns on the investment, that money belongs with the club. the only way an owner should make money is on the sale of the ownership and that is it! Ultimately even the big clubs should follow stable financial behavior regardless of the private contributions (donations)

The clubs do represent our communities and owners do have a morale duty to uphold that relationship with responsible stewardship.

That’s fine until is small number of clubs overtake and there’s zero competition. They wreck the transfer market and salary markets for everyone else, leaving the likes of us to pay for it to try keep up.

In the other hand, Man City types are only doing what premier league types are doing. Just not by using money earned in that area. Brighton are selling players for figures that would take us years to spend and that ain’t driven by Man City types.

My view would be to allow owners to invest but still limit that amount. Like they do now but increase it. The limited debt argument Is tricky. Is it for Football associations to dictate how clubs should be run, ie debt or equity. Not sure it is. Sometimes, clubs are run poorly like companies. We all know exactly how that feels.

All good points Sollof19.

I wish the money hadn't overrun sports ( I remember a time when it wasn't so ridiculous) . All have ever wanted is a competitive team to watch game in and game out. European stuff is nice when we play in it. I don't even watch it when we are out.

I was actually hoping the super league would form, then those big teams can foff with their money but they shouldn't get to play in their national leagues. If they want to be in the big leagues then off you go. I might have watched a game or two just for the skill level but if Rangers isn't there I wouldn't be bothered to pay for the viewing pleasure.

Teams could survive bad management if the wage structure/ tv rights weren't so out of balance. But nowadays one bad year could mean relegation and bankruptcy.
