Question for anyone in the know. What's the chances of us looking into the free agent market over this international break. Still a few good players unattached that could improve us.

I think we might be saving up all our pennies just in case we need to find a new manager and pay off the bunch that we currently have. We need to find a DoF or a General Manager for the Football side that Beale reports into. One that has a coaching background and understands what is needed to play for and manage rangers!

Dont understand how we were so good defensively under gerrard but rubbish under beale when he was the brains apparently.
So where is the passion and the commitment that was shown by that team. Whwt has changed.
Is beale trying to do so much and it is impacting his coaching.

That is exactly the role we should have offered souness. not the ‘ambassador’ role he was offered.

4.) 04 Sep 2023

Is this why souness rejected the role he was offered, he knew what was coming.

Laudbear, the coaching staff for the defenders were better. Tav and Borna were younger and fitter and had less scar tissue. Helander was immense, that cannot be underestimated. Tom Culshaw had the team well drilled to defend set plays. The midfield done a much better job of tracking players and covering for the fullbacks. Davis, Jack and Kamara knew their roles.

Unfortunately now it doesn’t seem the coaching staff have a clue for the defenders. Set plays are awful. Tav and Borna are older. We haven’t replaced Helander. The midfield don’t track runners. And there doesn’t seem to be the same desire to keep clean sheets. I remember the game we pumped Motherwell and the team were raging when they conceded a goal late in the game. Ultimately that is the standards that were set by Gerrard. The best managers have the highest standards. Walter was the best ever.

That is the role Souness thought he was getting.

Some of the comments on here are really bizarre. So people want Beale, who has 20 years coaching experience, to report to someone else who can coach? Also, who is this person who knows what it’s about to play and manage Rangers that is going to offer Beale advice? Is it Ally McCoist the worst manager in our history? No thanks, mate.

Rangers don’t need Rangers men. We’ve had plenty of those over the last 12 years and almost all have failed this club for those with short memories. It took someone from the outside, Steven Gerrard and Beale, to come here and get the job done. What we need is people who are competent enough to do their jobs.

The past is an irrelevance, Storm. New squad of players in with a huge enclave of first team regulars gone. We might win a lot going forward. In fact, Rangers are now favourites to win the first piece of domestic silverware of this season. You seem to think that a lack of success in the past means we will have a lack of success in the future? Sport doesn’t work that way.

Gerrard didn’t win anything during his first two season. Should we have sacked him? As I said before, people like you wanted Gerrard sacked midway through the season we won 55 because we drew a game against Hibs. Others kept faith in him until he delivered. When Ange took over Celtic he was six points behind Gerrard at this stage having been eliminated from the Champions League qualifiers by Midtjylland. Should Celtic have sacked him there and then? He had also lost his first Old Firm game.

Beale has not been given enough time or opportunity to work with his new summer signings. Sometimes teams click straight away, sometimes they don't. You want instant success or a sacking but you’ll get neither so early in the season. We’re on course to win the first piece of silverware of the season, and if we do, you’ll probably STILL want the manager sacked. You’ve clearly made up your mind.

Good Morning Verdantabyss, he may have 20 years coaching experience, but that could also be interpreted a 1 years experience 20 times, he certainly appears to be showing a naivety in what we're now seeing from Rangers. I'm not a coach, but played and was coached at Amateur level until I was 27, and we always knew what was expected of us on the field. Something isn't right with the connection between Michael and the players, and that is a bad mix.

What makes any1 think we're gona with the cup? On our current form we will not get by livi. The team has been together for several games including pre season and still don't seem to know their roles. Players are being shoehorned into positions that they have no clue about, look at cifuentes, he looked lost. I really hope it comes together but I just can't even see a glimpse. We've persevered with dessert but now it's time to give the £6m guy a chance, danilo is more mobile and will shoot from anywhere. Time for them to realise who they play for and show the same passion as us fans.

Verdant,

Beale is out of his depth, it’s not even up for debate anymore. Maybe given time he could turn things around although I doubt it. I’m not saying he will get the sack though as who is going to come in and replace him? I think we are stuck with him for the season at least. We are still in the cup so let’s see if he can at least achieve that. If he falls at that hurdle then what will you have to say?

Give him another year?

15.) 04 Sep 2023

I do not feel the league is over and no, i don't want Beale sacked (yet) but he does need to improve his team selection and tactics (if he's actually using any) . And to be fair the Ref/ VAR got 2 big decisions wrong. (maybe the conspiracies have transferred from green to blue LOL)

But people still talk about players gelling and settling in.

Most of the new signings do not even look as if they have played football before. No control over the ball. Constantly and needlessly fouling. can't stay onside. can't hold the ball up. can't run at a defender or take on a man. CAN NOT SHOOT OR GET A SHOT ON TARGET!

Sunday was a shambolic performance considering its a home and against a rotten Celtic team.

Fingers crossed Beale can turn this around or its going to be a hard watch the rest of the season.

17.) 04 Sep 2023
04 Sep 2023 08:59:47
Is his plan to have his signings get to know each other on the bench?

18.) 04 Sep 2023
04 Sep 2023 09:15:50
Past is irrelevant it’s you that brought the past up ?‍♂️. Beale has 20 years coaching experience Doesn’t look like it pity he hasn’t got years of experience in managing. That’s what he is now a manager not a coach.

19.) 04 Sep 2023
04 Sep 2023 09:59:34
Tactics? anyone know what they are? Oh well the messiah Lundstram will be back next game possibly on the right wing to balance things up and look less predictable, do we have a left back with no ability on either foot just for a change?

20.) 04 Sep 2023
04 Sep 2023 10:03:21
Irvger - The Rangers Review pay that annual £25k for access to the players, manager, and staff. They said Beale is a real disciplinarian and training is taken very seriously. Under GVB training had the reputation as being a bit of a joke.

We don’t know what is going on behind closed doors. However, it does seem like t Beale has the respect of the players. Even players he has formerly worked with at other clubs, or at youth level, all speak highly of him. There is nothing to suggest the players and manager are not on the same page.

Maybe what we’re seeing is a team with new players and a new system struggling to come together? Some like Matondo and Roofe have hardly kicked a ball in the last year. Maybe, if given time, we’ll see a marked improvement from this team.

21.) 04 Sep 2023
04 Sep 2023 10:13:23
“ Past is irrelevant it’s you that brought the past up ?‍♂️. Beale has 20 years coaching experience”.

Beale’s previous knowledge of coaching is relevant since people are questioning his credentials. How many trophies Rangers have won in the past has no bearing on what we will win moving forward because that’s flawed logic. It’s called ‘the hot hand fallacy’. You think because something has been happening in the past it’ll continue to happen into the future - Like Celtic fans who are so convinced they will win next years title just because they won it last year. Achievements in previous years are irrelevant became this season we have new players, so do Celtic, and most of the other teams in the league. It’s all to play for.

22.) 04 Sep 2023
04 Sep 2023 10:32:43
Verdant, Beale has had one management post, QPR and he was on the verge of getting sacked after 6 months. He has been at Rangers longer and will be sacked shortly. How you could watch that performance yesterday and attempt to defend him is unbelievable.

23.) 04 Sep 2023

When Beale was at QPR he doing such a good job at one point he was offered an EPL job with Wolves. Also, how have QPR been since Beale left? That clubs issues run deep.

The QPR fans were gutted when Beale left that's why they were all on social media foaming at the mouth. Celtic did the same thing when Rodgers left. If they genuinely wanted him gone nobody would’ve cared. They might even have been happy ?.

28.) 04 Sep 2023

VerdantAbyss . McCoist was not a good manager albeit at a difficult time but worst Rangers manager ever, really! What about mad Pedro, Le Guen, White and Murty.

31.) 04 Sep 2023
04 Sep 2023 14:30:44
McCoist is easily the worst manager we have ever had and I’ll explain why. He took over from Walter Smith and was given a title winning team. About 4 weeks into his debut season Rangers had been eliminated from 3 cup completions. The Champions League, UEFA, and League Cup to Falkirk (a division below) . Even if you write off the rest of that season because of off the pitch issues the writing was on the wall.

In the lower leagues McCoist was spending £7m/ annually on player wages to beat guys who were part-timers. The fans wanted a young exciting team playing attacking football because we were bored with the defensive stuff under Walter. We were told because McCoist was a striker we’d see more attacking stuff. But no, just long ball stuff to Kyle and Daly. No attempt to play football. McCoist would say you can’t play football then I would watch part-time teams pass us off the pitch. Buying 30+ year olds in the lower leagues who will have retired by the time we get back up, rather than build something.

McCoist put no effort in to managing Rangers at all. He spent millions to get a bunch of guys to hoof the ball. When we were sitting third in the Championship behind Hearts and Hibs those were the dark times. Despite McCoist’s absurd spending we were not getting promoted from the lower leagues. Nor could we even win the Petrograd cup in 3 attempts!

McCoist should’ve walked for incompetence. The fact he demanded full pay for an entire year and not a penny less will never sit right with me. Add to that, Green gave McCoist shares in Rangers worth millions so what did they get in return? They need someone the fans would trust. McCoist said go out and buy season tickets these are good people, and they weren’t.

We had to boycott the stadium in the lower leagues to McCoist out. I know many of our fans were not a part of that period, or have blacked it out, but it was horrible and McCoist is the main reason why. Almost 4 years of agony

What did Pedro do? Took over a Rangers team that was already 20 points behind Celtic. Gets told he won’t be judged until the next season. Next season comes and he loses about 3 games and is canned. We that's nothing compared to McCoist’s failings as a coach, manager, and his obvious personal greed. At one point McCoist said he wouldn’t be able to do his job properly unless he was given a bumper new contract along with McDowall and Durrant. He rode roughshod over our club.

32.) 04 Sep 2023
04 Sep 2023 14:49:32
Verdant come on three players started that game that wasn't there before.

I'd also counter with how long has Rodgers worked with his 80% of team that started for them ?

Sorry but it's the same clutching at straws arguement as Kilmarnock game who also had around 7 new players.

33.) 04 Sep 2023
04 Sep 2023 14:50:32
Mccoist was horrendous sorry but true

Love coisty but he's no manager.

34.) 04 Sep 2023
04 Sep 2023 17:23:55
McCoist was certainly poor but the title of worst manager has to surely be LeGuen although for some of us older Rangers supporters we might argue that Davie Whyte was not too clever either. Different Eras and different scenarios but Beale is certainly in the bottom three in my book.
I'm not going to debate again his shortcomings, they are there for all to share and the vast majority of our support want him gone. We can't all be wrong.

35.) 04 Sep 2023
04 Sep 2023 19:17:57
“Beale will not win us a league title. ”

Someone said the exact same thing to me about Steven Gerrard the year we won 55. Needless to say he was quite wrong.

36.) 04 Sep 2023
04 Sep 2023 19:24:09
Gofor - Celtic only won the game because of the referee. Celtic and Rodgers were unimpressive. Their fans are ready to turn on Rodgers as soon as they get a few bad results. I’m not sitting here today blown away by how good Celtic are. Both teams seemed rather even to me. The only thing separating both sides was the referee.

If the decisions go our way is Beale a hero and Celtic fans want Rodgers sacked today? Sliding doors moments like these decide careers and it seems a bit crazy since it was incompetent officials that determined the outcome of the game.

37.) 04 Sep 2023
04 Sep 2023 19:40:21
“ Verdant it’s you that said the past has no relevance then brought up the past ?‍♂️. ”

You’re really struggling with this, Storm. Let me try again…

Past performance is no predictor of future performance. Ever heard that? It’s a basic economic principle. Just because something happened before does not guarantee it will continue to happen into the future. If I flipped a coin 10 times and it was heads every time what is the odds of it being a heads the next time? It's still 50/ 50 of course because no previous attempt has any effect of future attempts. It's the same with sport. So how Rangers did 24 months ago under a different manager and team has no bearing on this season. Your telling me Celtic won the last 6 trophies or something. Does that mean they are guaranteed to win the next 6? No. The won 9 on the bounce then we stopped them because, in sport, things change.

This is quite different from mentioning Beale’s CV as proof of his coaching experience in response to someone calling him “tactically inept”.

38.) 04 Sep 2023
04 Sep 2023 19:53:46
Berkshire league was getting good results in Europe and brought through McGregor

I at the time did not jump on the league bandwagon I said he had taken over an already dominating team in France anyone could have taken that team to title he had no respect for culture of our country should have changed things slowly.

Mccoist was worse I remember going to his first title award match day game at Ibrox in lowest division league was already won yet he played 451 long ball tactics and won 1nil I gave up on mccoist as a manager that day no youth development at all bad signings overpaying for players.

39.) 04 Sep 2023
04 Sep 2023 20:45:35
Gofor, leguen tried to sell McGregor to Dunfermline for £200k and the only reason he stayed is cause they couldn’t afford it.
Leguen didn’t rate McGregor, he signed letizi who was garbage, only reason McGregor got in was down to letizi being injured and he got a chance and performed so well after that couldn’t be dropped.

NOT.
