Not great to be honest but a free if Davis or arfield leaving is meh acceptable but I fear our policy it should be every signing we make shod be to be first 11 that's how you improve if you buy squad players just for numbers you will always go back the way.

I would be disappointed if that's the level we are looking at. If he was coming in to replaces Davis and Arfield I personally don't think he is better than either.

TrueBlue I don't think John is trying to be awkward but merely putting the realistic context to the question.
We can say McLean isn't what we want/ need. In an ideal world I wouldn't sign him but given that you need an amount of Scottish players in your squad (as per UEFA) then all of a sudden it's a different proposition.
As we will need some Scots academy raised players in the team and we are likely to lose players like Arfield and maybe Jack then we the question isn't should we sign McLean? The real question is - if not McLean which Scots raised players do we sign?
