Was big mistake not selling some of these players. Too many like SG felt the job was done and clearly don't want to be here. Gerrard allowed a serious attitude of complacency to develop. Unfortunately value of most of the team has plummeted. Last season talk of £15-20m players. Can't see getting more than £5m for anyone.

McGregor - I think needs to be dropped and no new contract. If nothing else need to start planning for next season.
McLaughlin - I would keep
Firth - replace with younger player
Goldston - sell in Jan if we can bring in a replacement
Arfield - I like but getting on a bit for a squad player
Defoe - assume may stay as a coach?
Kent - we need someone like Kent as have a lack of pace and skill in the team but would sell for right money.

I think more changes will happen in January now with the new manager as he will want his own players and bed in before next season.

John25 ; am I wrong in thinking I read that Goldson and Barasic don’t get in and don’t speak or am I barking up the wrong tree, I’ve been saying for a long time the signing policy this summer was terrible none of the players signed have gone on to be nailed on starters, we should have strengthened from a position of strength but the team has stagnated, we are a shadow of the team we were, I found what Goldson said is very telling if your vice captain thinks you can’t score twice in 50 mins we have a problem, I think we have a very hard few months ahead, you can see there isn’t the togetherness in the team that’s needed I really fear for us unless Gio can work wonders.

Twacoos, it was I who wrote about this, barisic had massive fallout with Goldston allegedly over him putting boot into katic, at the time tav backed Goldston.
There is lots of friction in dressing room, and many cliques, same as lots off teams.
Imo this is affecting the team , gerrard was too weak to sort it out.

I do know we watched doehki and veerman this weekend, rangers seem to follow a player for months, watching regular, same we did with roofe, Lundstrum sakala alegria.
Bgate I suppose depends who comes in, Gerrard wanted top heavy squad because of C.V. hence Mccrorie Kelly Simpson arfield not on loan and Defoe retained as a player despite wanting to concentrate on coaching.

Hope it’s true John Kent will be sold January I think don’t think giving Davis another deal is good business again like McGregor he’s been great although Davis is not by like McGregor a don’t think he has another season in him at the level he has been playing sadly.

I’d be trying to move on both Tav and Barasic in Jan as we have ready made replacements. If we can get a fee in Jan and Doehki in then Goldson can go, he’s already away at end of contract. I’m lead to believe that Kamara signing deal was to increase his sell on fee and I think he will be gone along with Kent who wants back down south and will probably join up with SG again. That’s a huge chunk of our first team regulars from last year potentially leaving and it’s a gamble but I think it has to be taken, with fingers crossed new guys added settle quickly.

Thanks for the info John25. You can tell there is something not right, and that usually means behind the scenes. If, as you say there are divides between players then that is not good, only way to fix that is mass clearance and let Gio start with his own squad and ideas. Do I see it happening. no. I think we are still very very poor at selling players for decent money but if we get any decent offers in for any player in January I'd take it.

Guys issues in dressing room happens at every club it’s only an issue when losing, when your winning it’s never an issue. Players fall out and players don’t renew contracts it’s how the staff handle those issues that are key.

Thanks for the info John25, fully agree with that list, indeed other than Aribo and young Patterson I would be happy if we replaced all of Gerrard's signings. They either appear to be disinterested or are simply not good enough.
I just hope that we can rake in enough money for guys like Kent, Barasic and Kamara to give GVB a decent transfer budget to bring in the players needed.

I’ve long had a suspicion both Goldson and Tav are arrogant, like they considered themselves above Scottish, or any other people, I could be wrong but Goldson oozes arrogance, and I suspect they have been allowed to carry this because Stevie allowed it, I’ve never ever been carried away with our defenders and said so many times before, I didn’t quite believe the hype of last season, but I was delighted with the end result of course, imo quite a few were past they’re sell by date in summer, and Stevie ignorance of Alf, Kent Tav, being close to useless this year is manifesting itself now, gio has a job on getting rid.

John quick question - are you saying that all players after Souttar are now out with our finances? You mention Doehki who is out of contract in the Summer and I am thinking that he would cost less in wages than Goldson. Souttar I have heard is more or less a done deal with pen to paper completed sometime between dec and jan. I have also heard that since the said falling out you mention a further 2 of our defenders are not on speaking terms. That being Tav and Goldson. So far as far as I am aware its all hear say though.
