Many people, myself included have an impression that if we were to sign shankland, he could be another Nicky Clarke. But what if he turned out to be the next Andy Robertson? (Different position I know, but in the sense of potential)

Agreed MarcoC - some people on here seem to be too quick to use the Nicky Clarke angle about Shankland plus he failed with the sheep- he is still young and improving and in my opinion can only improve further with coaching and being amongst a better standard of player- with a shortage of natural strikers around young Shankland surely has to be of interest to us -.

Defo a cheaper option.

You’re right on the money he’s excactly like Nicky Clark. prolific at a mediocre level! C'mon chaps aim a little higher for **** sake🙈.

Agreed
The risk that comes with a lot of signings wouldn’t be there if we signed him
Definitely worth a go.

just think if everybody had said the same about jamie vardy when he was at the conference how can anybody say that he's going to be the next nicky clark nobody can tell unless you give him a chance and also the boy is breaking goalscoring records in the championship can't remember saying the same about nicky clark.

The Leicester city fans likely said the same when they heard they were signing a non league striker from Fleetwood for 1m. look how that turned out.

bit unsure about shankland tbh he cld make it or might not

i’d only being him in if he’s better than what we have - hardie has scored vs hearts and hivs recently but folk
still maintain he’s not good enough. think the lad got a few starts tops that just ain’t enough for a young player to then say he ain’t good enough

also for those saying shankland is prolific at mediocre level and that’s it davie cooper came from clydebank and super ally came from st johnstone via sunderland both legends

that’s no guarantee players from lesser clubs won’t be good enough but i also accept the nicky clarke argument

i’d still sign davis maybe recall doc and i heard we are talking to solanke reps.

Don't think it will matter what striker we sign unless we start playing with two up front, 442? - that worked a bit better when laff came on today and we started playing a more direct game. All the opposition have sussed our one up front system and if they snuff el buffalo we are toothless in attack.

For the money it would cost to bring him in. It makes more sense to sign him than let him go somewhere else. He may very well not turn out great but he is showing promise and you can only beat what’s put in front of you and he is doing that with ease. Maybe we can take him to the next level.

Lads obviously still young and has potential. Knows where the goal is. We don’t create enough chances at the moment for him to flourish. Hopefully that changes going in to the second half of the season. Would be decent back up for Fredo and wouldn’t cost a lot.

I'd take the lad in a heartbeat. its zero risk for us. For all we know he could become the next Vardy. I doubt we'll have a lot of money to spend in January so it's a wise move for me.

Young and has potential? He's a year older than Morelos with about a tenth of the ability. Has anyone actually watched him?

I've not looked it up but isn't Shankland breaking records Clarke set in the championship?

Alba, he is top league scorer, but is behind Steven Dobbie in goals so far this season.

People keep banging on about Nicky Clark but all his goals for QOTS were in the first division no the championship. Also Clark may have been more successful with some decent players around him. Shankland worth a punt as cover imo.

To be honest I’ve never watched the boy play other than against us where he barely got a sniff. But plenty ex players/ pundits have spoken about his work ethic, clever runs and ability to be in the right place at the right time and then put the ball in the back of the net, which sets him apart from Nicky Clark. If Gerrard goes for him, it’s good enough for me.
