Atakayi, Rudden and Hardie - three forwards in our development squad. If any one of them had been given a run alongside Morelos last season I'm sure it would have made a difference. What is the point in having a development squad if the club is not going to develop them in the first team? We've signed too many has-beens over the last few years and look at the tripe that has to be cleared out yet again before the season starts properly.

It's easier said than done Old firm fans especially are impatient and want success straight away with these youngsters you can't just throw them into 1st team as it can ruin them with to much pressure on their shoulders this is why we have to calm down with the boy Middleton everybody wants him to start games but we cannot be putting that kind of pressure so soon on young lad these players need developed correctly at a good speed not to much to soon the loan system we use for Hardie especially will stand him in good stead in coming years

We done the same with Docherty and McCorrie, these guys need to play without pressure and play selective games. These guys are the future and we can’t burn them out or hammer their confidence

There is an old adage in football 'if you are good enough you are old enough'. I remember young players like Denis Law, Jim Forrest, Derek Johnstone and Colin Stein all playing at a high level while very young. Forrest scored 57 goals in a season when still only 20. How long do you keep farming these youngsters out - until they are 27 or 28? Utter tosh. McCrorie is clearly good enough to play in the first team now and so is Docherty. Looks like Middleton is too. Derek Johnstone was only 16 when he made his first team debut for Rangers. Rant over.

Doiger you answer your own question, they are not good enough yet.

That's the difference, mcrorie is good enough and has established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet, unfortunately hardie isn't (yet anyway) but obviously they want another year's loan to see how he progresses. Rudden and atakayi have bags of potential but are still raw and not ready for anything other than being involved in first team squads with occasional sub appearance if games allow. We need another striker to go with alf and sadiq. Someone with experience and the knack of scoring goals

I think we are over protective of our younger players look at the amount of late teens early 20s in the world cup Mbappe is 19!IMO it's sink or swim no point in developing the boys if the weight of the badge is too much
There have been seasoned pros can't cope

You said it yourself if you're old enough you're good enough. If they're not impressing in training to point of starting a game or getting on the bench then they're obviously not good enough at this point in time in the eyes of the management who see them everyday. The real talent will ultimately shine through in the end if it's only one youngster out of 10 then so be it.

Hardie isn’t good enough, Rudden has a long way to go I think Atakayi could get some time this year.

For me only McCrorie and Middleton have got it. I believe there’s a kid called Williamson apparently potential superstar.

Too many on here think cause their Rangers youth they should get a shout. If they’re not getting a game they’re not ready.

4 managers now in the last 5 years have deemed hardie not ready. They saw him every day we don’t. I fear the championship is his level

Yeah SharpshootersPOM, but look at who these managers were. Caixhinho, Warburton, McCoist, blah, blah. Great managers, not. Time we took a chance on youth. I'm not saying play six development squad players but goodness me surely if a couple of these players were given a decent run last season we couldn't have done any worse. You and others on here are talking as if we have had uninterrupted success over the last five years. Eh, sorry we have won f*** all! Look at the crap we've brought in, e. g. Pena, Herrera, Cummings, Forrester, Cardoso, Windass, etc, etc.

if these boys have anything about them they should thrive under pressure. that's what football is. in european leagues what we call boys ie 18-24 they call professionals

or they end up just doing a bunk as they know they have no chance. billy gilmour, charlie telfer, these players will continue to leave. PLAY THEM!

THESE IDIOTS WHO SAY PROTECT THEM. DO YOU THINK THEY WANT PROTECTED. or want an opportunity to skin an make a fool of more expierianced players to make a name for thier selves. ps colt team thing not going far enough there should be a scottish elect team that can only sign players that are eligible for scotland national team or will be eligible (youth) and no older than 23.as soon as 23 ship them out if they have a club lined up.

So why is gerrard not playing him DOIGER? He surely knows a striker when he see 1 considering who he has played with no? Dry your eyes because my opinion differs from the great football managers of our time like your good self 😏

DOIGER, totally agree mate0. Hardie could easily have been given a place on the bench for certain games in the last 2 seasons. Brought on for the last 20-25 minutes. Who knows, he could have come on in a game we were struggling in and bagged a couple of goals. If he and Atakayi, Rudden etc aren't given a chance then we'll never know if they're good enough or not. If Billy Gilmour hadn't gone to Chelsea, would we be farming him out to Livingston or Falkirk every season until he was 22 or 23? A question for those who disagree- we're a goal down, 20 mins left of the game and Hardie and Herrera are on the bench. Which one to you send on to the park? I know which one I'd choose!
