Why are we paying 3.5million for Connor Golden from Brighton whos hardly played last season when we could of got Johnny Evans for the same price? that's his clause cause WBA got relagated, i see he's agreed to join Leicester city we should of at least had a go at signng him as he's a much more experienced player and better than CG from Brighton, what do fellow bears think? did we let a really good deal slip through?

Evans earns silly money. He’s way above our pay scale and with EPL teams interested it would ever happen.

Because goldson will be on about 20/ 25k a week and evans will be on about 80k, well out of our budget

Honestly Alex, what goes through your head? Do you even take a moment before posting nonsense like that? Have a word!

Honestly some people shouldn’t be allowed on the internet.

Think about it Alex! Cmoan man

My only issue is we need to start off loading because we need the wage bill down so we can get decent players and wages not a problem but think things are starting to look good buzzing for the season to start 55 here we come

We couldn't afford skrtels wages, and evans is on the same if not more than skrtel but your questionin why we never went for him.? Do people actually believe the stuff they write on here?

Bargain.

If this boy is on £25k a week then I think that says bye bye to alves really. Probably sell him for a nominal fee just to free up his wages. Works for me.

Johnny Evans probably has a clause which he gets a massive signing on fee of millions, that is why he has a low transfer fee of £3-3.5 million, plus his wages will be somewhere between 80-100k per week,

08 Jun 2018 10:28:08
Any one who thinks Jonny Evans would come here on wages we could offer is deluded we're no where near competing on wages

12.) 08 Jun 2018
08 Jun 2018 10:47:39
Evans agent got him between 6-9 million signing on fee because the release clause was so low. so never even on our radar

Think you should apologise for this one Alex1972😂

14.) 08 Jun 2018
08 Jun 2018 15:32:03
Alex1972 is right, we should have put a bid in and asked him if he wants to take an 80% drop in wages. I'm sure he's sitting gutted questioning his agent as to why he never got the opportunity to take such a decline in wages .

MikeGer apologies for what for stating the obvious thatConnor Goldson is nowhere near worth 3.5million that was my main point and i mentioned Evans as to back my point that there are better players out there for the same or even less money like we could buy both Sutter and McKenna and still have a about a million and a half left off of the 3.5 we are willing to pay for CG i agree about Evans wages but Don't forget all the silly names we have been linked to and have been mentioned on here like Lucas Defoe etc etc its the same for them it was never going to happen because of there wages but Until recently with the Skertel no deal cause of wages nobody on here was saying we can't afford him or him cause of the wages, i only asked peoples opinion and was saying that CG from Brighton was nowhere near worth 3.5million so there will be no apologies for my opinion as like others i'm intieteld to.

16.) 08 Jun 2018

Hasn't McKenna now got a 2.5mil buy out clause? And souttar after last season is at least 1-2 million? I agree after the season they both had they should be our defence but they'll cost more than the 2.75 goldson is costing

17.) 08 Jun 2018
08 Jun 2018 18:40:19
3.5 million is not enough for Jonny Evans so it's a ridiculous comparison. Looking at 6-8 million signing on fee plus agent fees.

18.) 08 Jun 2018
08 Jun 2018 18:42:44
And then 80k per week is 4.1 million a year on top of that. So 3.5 million we can get evans for maybe 4 months?

19.) 08 Jun 2018
08 Jun 2018 19:49:30
That was a poor attempt at saving face Alex. Your original post suggested we should have signed Evans instead, which is silly.

20.) 09 Jun 2018
08 Jun 2018 23:58:45
MikeGer didn’t you see there was a £3m clause due to relegation, but if you tried to buy him from
Leicester then it would be silly money

Alex: Goldson is nowhere near a £3 million pound player? Okay mate, well after speaking to Brighton fans on social media they are gutted to be losing him so cheaply, they really seem to like the guy and rate him just because you've never saw him play doesn't lower his valuation. Guessing you used to watch Bougherra every week before he signed? Give the lad a chance I'm happy SG has identified the need to spend to strengthen the defence with a British based player who could have real sell on value.
