Afternoon bears and bearettes, this is my first post on the site after many months spent as a very active visitor.

News out of Turkish media today is that we're being linked with Costa Rican international 'keeper Esteban Alvarado, who plays with Trabzonspor. The guy is 6'3, 27 years of age and (if my memorys serves me correctly) spent a long time in Holland with AZ Alkmaar, where he became a bit of a cult hero following an incident involving him kicking an Ajax fan who had ran onto the pitch in 2011.

Article below is in Turkish and the translated version isn't the most accurate, but it seems Trabzonspor are wanting rid of their big name players.

We need a dependable no.1 for sure although know nothing about this guy.

I still think wes has done well over the course of the season and deserves his chance in the premises, another keeper to challenge fair enough but to replace him would b harsh.

He's a great shot stopper but he can be a bomb scare at the back. Good keeper not great. Think we need a better standard for the prem than Wes.

For me it seems Alvarado would be an improvement on Wes. Fair enough Wes has had a good season in the grand scheme of things, but my heart is in my mouth every time the ball is played back to him.

We would be bringing in a GK who has international experience and (from the video below) has shown he can produce top quality saves vs strikers from Ajax/ PSV and other Dutch teams in a league far with far higher standards than our own top division. At 27 too he would likely have a more than decent resale value if things didn't work out/ we for whatever reason decided to sell him.

Few top saves in here from his AZ Alkmaar days:

Some remarkable stops in this one too for Trazbonspor, just 3 months ago:
